A Simple Recyclable and Fun Way to be Creative! . I am so glad that I stocked up on two of these! The kit is generously stocked with a variety of play-doh colors and crafting implements, and the canister is reusable as a storage container. I love that the set provides the materials, but that children must use their own creativity to develop the activity in a fun and imaginative way. I guess that's the "retro" part of it -- so many other crafting games overly structure children's play experiences (e.g., providing a Dora the Explorer backdrop to accompany tubs of play-doh). This item allows the child to drive the learning and exploration! Sometimes, a simple, traditional toy is the most "educational" of all!

Fun in a can! . This can of Play-Doh was a great hit with my 7 year old on Christmas. He is still playing with it almost every day. Lots of dough and lots of tools to go along with it. The can is much bigger than I expected and everything fits nicely back into it when done playing.

Great Play Doh toy . This is really cute. We loved the retro canister. The set includes all the basics that your little one needs to make some awesome creations. The canister can be a bit tricky for little ones to open which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how independant you want your child to be.

The canister set makes a great gift just because the packaging is unique with that retro feel that is popular.

Play-Doh at Its Best . The children loved this canister full of tools and Play-Doh from the momement they opened it. The tools are sturdy, the play-doh was generous and the fun has ended. A constant form of entertainment for them.

Fun never stops! . Was shockingly surprised by the size of this container. Maybe I didn't pay close attention to the sizing on it when I ordered but it was huge. I can't believe I got so much stuff for such a good price. My sons eyes lite up when he saw it. He loves it.

Take it from another mom. Kids never grow tired of play-doh when their at that age. I highly recommend getting this if you want to get a huge start to hours of fun. It has so much in it for a price you can't beat. :) Seriously!

Easy to make pottery but not too strong. . This pottery wheel is a lot of fun for my 11 year old daughter. The first time we use it, she did not add enough water to the clay, so the machine labored quite a bit. It then shut off to cool for about 10 minutes. It came back on after that. She now kneads more water into her clay before putting it on the wheel so the machine does not labor too much. She really likes it. You can purchase refill packs of the clay as well. The wheel moves at one speed that is fairly slow. The only real downside that I can see is that it is a bit loud. But it is not a nuisance to us.

Wheel didn't work . I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday and was very disappointed that it didn't work. We put in new batteries and the wheel would turn for a a minute or two at a time and then stop. We gave up after about 10 minutes and put it back in the box.

Pleasantly surprised! . I didn't have much hope for a pottery wheel/kit in this price range. But my daughter wanted one so I decided to take a chance on it. I must say, it works better than I expected. The wheel spins at a good pace and is controlled by a foot pedal that is easy to operate by my 8-year old. The instruction booklet is very thorough and has tips for making operation easy. The clay does slip off the wheel at times but if you follow the advice in the book and dry off both the wheel and the clay, it seems to work better. The only frustration is in making anything more involved than a small, shallow dish or "pinch pot". I hope with more practice she/we will be able to make the taller vase that's on the box.

Thumbler's Tumbler MP-1 . I bought this tumbler for my grandson for Christmas. I was told that Thumbler's Tumbler was a good brand and was willing to pay a little more for something more durable. I was quite disappointed when he opened it. He was pleased with it, but I am not sure that it is any better than the $39 toy tumblers. It is mostly plastic and the drum is quite small. It was advertised as having a list price of $279..I would say that the $74.99 I paid was to much.

Good Starter Kit For A Child . This was purchased as a gift for my nephew. The kit is shipped in a heavy-duty box, and the tumbler unit itself is nearly fully assembled. The only assembly required is to mount the drum and the belt. However, I wouldn't necessarily consider this assembly, as this action is required every time items are removed or added to the drum.

As for the kit contents, it comes with everything you'll need to get started. The directions are easily understood, and the kit components are separated and clearly marked.

As for performance, the unit is, as expected, noisy. As others have suggested, you'll want to run this in your garage or workshop, especially since the unit is to be run continuously. For this type of entry-level kit, the durability is what you'd expect. Since I purchased this for a nine year old, I don't expect this hobby to be anything more than a fascination. As such, in my opinion, this is the perfect, middle ground kit for his needs. The kit is reasonably priced, but not too "kid-like".

Thumbler's Tumbler MP-1 Rock Tumbler (Purchased on 08/19/2011) . I was really looking forward to polishing rocks with my daughter but we set it up per the instructions, plugged it in and within 2 hours it had overheated and shut off. Now I have a 65 dollar piece of junk.

Ok but not durable . Really needs a new motor. This thing gets hot to the touch and sounds like it will only last another week or so (and its only 2 weeks old).

Not a toy. It's a "real" tumbler. . Our 6 year old grandson is fascinated with rocks, so we thought this would be a great birthday gift. It actually replaced a cheaper model, which cost about $10 less, which we returned after it stopped working. This model is light years ahead of the toy rock tumblers. My grandson and his dad are having a great time tumbling their rock finds. You will need to buy extra grit for polishing. Rough rocks are readily available online. A great, educational gift which should last for years.

Make sure your child wants/understands this . Brought this for grandson @ age 6, he was not ready for the waiting involved for the rocks to tumble into polished stone. Grandpa loved it, but he set it up on the shelf for a few years till grandson is older.

A toy? . Lots of older person's polish rocks and don't think their hobby falls into the "toy" category. Regardless, the rock polisher worked fine.

Cons Review

Great tumbler I loved it . Just finished making my first run in it, had a great time. Produce some really nice looking rocks.

No problems running it at all. The rubber barrel makes it repetitively quiet (run it in a closet and barely hear any noise (bit like rain).

My seven year old lost interest pretty quickly (though enjoys sorting through stones and picking some finish ones for jewelery.)
But I'm loving it.

Went to ebay and bought grits for a 12# tumbler for just over $20 delivered (he through in a couple of pounds of rock as well free), so I have grits for another 6 runs...Plenty of rocks at good prices at Ebay as well (group your purchases to save on shipping as its a killer when buying a couple of pounds of rocks). My local beach has lots of quarts pebbles so no shortage of matterial for me.

Great price great deal...would recommend it over the toy little plastic barreled ones (since it only costs about $10 more) .

Playdough lasts! . Crayola Playdough is superb! Not only does it come in large containers of one color so that I have enough for the entire class, it lasts and lasts! I have had the same containers of Playdough for three years. Finally, I had to throw them away because they were getting too hard for the children to squeeze. Make sure that you put the lid on tightly when your children are finished playing and you will have soft pliable playdough for years. I have tried other playdough types. They are either too hard for the children to manipulate (the bricks) or they dry up after a year. I was very excited when I came back to school after the air conditioning being off all summer to find that my Playdough had not dried out.

Needs better instructions . I'm an adult, and I got this for myself because I wanted a relatively inexpensive loom to fiddle with, to see if I could actually make something useful from this "toy". I figured since this was a toy, it would be easier. Well, having tinkered with the thing for about ten minutes now, my initial impression is that there is no way a 7 year old could figure out how to work this thing by themselves. The directions are perplexing to say the least. There are two booklets; one of them is supposed to be a quick start guide and the other a book of projects. For the rainbow scarf, I found you have to refer back and forth (at least to start) to both booklets. It felt like someone showing you what a bike was, the pieces of it, and then you were expected to just get on and peddle yourself off into the sunset. Not so much.

I feel like this loom COULD be easy to use, and that they PROBABLY did do all the hard work already getting it so it's ready to go when you receive it, but the instructions and illustrations are so confusing that I'm just not so sure anymore. I was more certain of its ease before the directions than after, and I think that says something. For example, the extra shuttle that's in the loom, is that supposed to be there? Do I need to take it out? They don't mention this in the booklets. The section on re-threading is so unintuitive that I've decided to read it again tomorrow when I've had some coffee and a night's rest. I mean, this really shouldn't be rocket science.

Overall, I've given this thing 4 stars because I think it WILL be easy to use once I figure out how to do it (on the Internet, not through the materials they've provided), and because it seems to be built sturdy (sturdily?). I'm sure I will get hours of enjoyment out of it and hopefully a completed, usable product; however, all this is wishful thinking in light of the fact that for now I simply cannot figure out if I'm even using this "toy" correctly at all.

By the way, this is the Easy Weaver A, not B. The booklets refer to both, and the box does not seem to mention the model.

HARRISVILLE LOOM ..... IS NOT THE BEST LOOM DEAL !! . After reading the rather weak Amazon reviews for this Harrisville loom I still did ( reluctantly ) order this loom from Amazon (for grandaughter 11th birthday ).
Shortly thereafter I discovered a superior quality loom from another source, and for less money. I cancelled my Amazon order!
The loom I purchased, is called "Little Quick Weaver", and is a mom and pop product from Michigan.
If you do an internet search, or an E-Bay search, using the "Little Quick Weaver" name, you will find where/how to purchase one.
I tried to provide the ordering/purchase specifics here, but Amazon removed that review.

Toy? or Mess! . I purchased the Easy Weaver A used for myself. Expecting it to be ready for weaving, the entire loom was a tangled mess. After untangling all the yarn and figuring out how to get it going took most of a day. It was a good thing that it was not purchased for a child. I was looking for something simple to learn weaving with and thought I would buy used.

When it arrived, I was very disappointed. I believe that the seller had misrepresented the item by not declaring that someone had cut the yarn at the base creating the mess. And it was definitely a mess.

Next time I will spend the extra to buy new.

this was $20 at Toys R us . This same kit was in the big toy book last Christmas (2006). It was less than twenty five dollars. My kids loved it but the wood case hinges did break rather quickly. Shop around for a good deal.

Disappointing Case . The contents of the case are wonderful! It contains crayons, colored pencils, markers, oil markers, water colors (with one small brush), glitter, glue, scissors (no paper). I bought this for my 8 yr. old grandson who enjoys and does well in using art to express himself. The case arrived in shrink wrap. I immediately saw the handle was cracked and one edge of the case was chipped. The handle broke in two. Rather than return it and since we do woodworking, I decided we would repair the handle. We have glued it. The repair was not perfect; and I now must sand and restain. In retrospect I could have bought something equal to this case at an arts and crafts store or possibly bought each of the Crayola contents in separate packages. The contents are great; the case very disappointing. I bought the smaller art kit for my granddaughter. The colors were packed in Crayola boxes. Paper, scissors and glue included. I had to set up the kit. We have to glue in the liners of the case. When you close the lid the contents fall out.

Nice Art Set - Buy somewhere else . I saw this same art set at our local Toys 'R Us and didn't immediately buy it because I wanted to see if I could get it cheaper on Amazon (which is often the case). Toys 'R Us was selling the same item for $34.99 which is needless to say where I purchased it. Looks to be a very nice art set for my daughter.

Awesome Item for Christmas! . We got this as a Santa gift for our 6 year old daughter. She hasn't opened it yet, obviously, since it's not Christmas but it arrived on time and it wasn't broken. We did, however, buy it from Toys R Us. Just wanted to review on here, as well. I have shopped at amazon.com for YEARS and have always been pleased with their service and their competitive pricing. That being said, I can not believe that this is going for $75 now! I bought it at Toys R Us for $24.99 a few weeks ago! They are now out of stock, and maybe Crayola is discontinuing this product, which would explain the sky-high price on amazon. It's a great set, but definitely not worth paying $75 for it! Save your money and get the Crayola Super Art Coloring Kit - your child will still be thrilled and you will still be able to sleep at night! :)

The Reason for $$$$ . The complaint seems to be that this site is asking way too much money for this item. Lots or sorting and prepare to supervise your 8 year old . When the box was opened I found all of the pieces mixed together. For the next 30 minutes I sorted and counted the pieces to be sure none were missing. Everything was fine. If the pieces had already been individually packaged in plastic bags, however, a lot of sorting time would have been saved and I would have been spared the wrong initial impression that I had received a returned item. After confirming all of the pieces were there, I reviewed the instructions with my son. The toy is rated 8+ so I got it for my 8 year old son. Though he's a whiz at legos, this was a challenge for him. I'm glad I purchased the item because it gives me a project that I can work on with him. If, however, you plan on being hands-off in the creation of this castle, it might be better to wait until your child is 9 or 10 years of age.

It's play doh! . It would be nice if they had in the description which colors were in this box, but it's not that big of a deal. You can purchase 1 can of playdoh for around $1 at Walmart, so for 24 cans at $15 (or I got it for $7.50 on sale) it was a decent deal. I just wish Play-doh would do something magical to keep it from drying out all the time!

The bus=pack of 24 cans is great - you can divide it up as stocking stuffers or small gifts among all the nieces/nephews/kids/grandkids.

We <3 Play Doh! . I bought this pre-Christmas when it was $7.50 to go with the Mega Fun Factory I already bought. As it turns out, we don't play with the Fun Factory at all, but we break out the entire case of this and have entire evenings of fun. My 9 year old son, 5 year old daughter, and I make animals with cookie cutters and play zoo. We make beach scenes and all sorts of imaginative themes. My kids do not realize that manipulating the dough improves hand strength and coordination for use with fine motor activities such as writing. I thought we would throw the cardboard container away, but it is just the right size and perfect for storing the dough. I am surprised it has held up this long.

The color assortment is also nice. We already had 20 colors and this nicely filled in our selection of blues, purples, browns, greens, and pinks.

Play-Doh Fun . I bought this for my 3 almost 4 year old for Christmas. The price was too good to pass up for 24 packs of Play-Doh. It has been a HUGE hit! I got some cookie cutters from the Dollar store and she will sit and play with them for like half an hour. Very worth it in my opinion!!

Really Cool! . Ok, for the price, I did not expect 24 full sized cans of play-doh. BUT that is what I got! My girls are so excited. We got 24 different colors in full sized cans. I am not going to list the colors as I expect they probably vary from box to box, but we did get a really good mix of primarys and pastels. We even got a can of black!

I will definetly repurchase this product again!

Edit: I discovered a bunch of dried, caked in Play Doh on my tile floor last night. So I pulled out my Shark Steam Mop ProEuro-Pro Shark S3501 Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop to see if that would take it up. Within minutes all the Play Doh was up and it did not require any scrubbing or scrapping. I'm adding this edit in case someone else needs a quick clean up tip!

Keeps my toddler occupied! . My toddler loves play-doh, and this was an excellent value delivered right to our door in time for Christmas. We only gave him 3 to play with and we'll continue to open them as needed. Hopefully, they'll last a long time. Wonderful value, great fine motor skill use, and awesome help in improving pretend and imagination play.

great! . This is a great big case of play-doh for a great price. I think they have improved their formula because it doesn't seem to dry out as fast as it used to. Nice variety of colors. My kids love it.

Cons Review

Smaller than I thought . I read reviews about this product before purchasing it and I was under the impression that the containers are the regular size. They're not, they're actually about half the size. There's many different colors, some double. My kids love playdoh and I let them play with four containers at a time until they've dried up, then we take another four. I reccomend buying playdoh cut-outs or something to shape the dough with because it can get pretty boring just using playdoh alone.

Anne's review . Our 7 year old granddaughter was enchanted with the sewing machine and bead applicator. After a short session of instruction and supervision, she took off on her own and practiced with the sewing machine and the bead applicator. We made a simple doll dress and figured out that one must turn fabric around at end of seam before cutting thread and stitch back along same seam to prevent pulling out the entire row of stitches.

I would very much like to know where one can purchase more beads to use in the bead applicator.

Hello Kitty . I bought this little "sewing machine" for my granddaughters when they come to visit thinking it would be a way to get them started sewing. I was very disappointed with the machine's performance. It did not stitch at all not even a chain stitch and the needle would not stay threaded. Not at all happy with this item.

My daughter loved it... . I thought the price was a little steep for the quality of the toy, but my daughter loved it for the entire 2 weeks that she had it. And then the rabbit chewed the the power cord cable... But I would say that if you are looking for a toy machine to teach the kids to sew its worth it.

Big Mistake . This sewing machine was a BIG MISTAKE. It did not work. It would stitch for about 1" then the thread would come out of the needle. It was hard to rethread. Not fun at all. Purchase was for 8 yr. She was heart broken.

Cons Review

Un safe product . this product has a tendency to tip while sewing. I put my grandchildren on a real machine for only 10 more dollars.

I then didn't have to worry about them getting stuck with the needle when it tipped and they garbed for it. Then they also had enough power to really sew.

First Sewing Machine . When I saw it, I wanted it ...so I bought it for my 9 year old niece. For a beginner sewing machine, I was impressed that it had a foot pedal and that it was a functional (on a small level)sewing machine. It came with projects for beginners to learn basic skills. I was not expecting it to be used to make a wardrobe so, I really liked the simplicity of it and did not have much expectations. I know video games are more popular with kids and she may have initially preferred a DSi but at the end, she seems to really enjoy it and has made some small purses and small quilts. She learned a skill and doesn't realize it. I was nervous about the safety of such a toy. I recommend as a gift for an older child and supervision. Its quite sturdy and performs well. I would rather have bought it at the store and not online but it arrived before Xmas and it was in excellent condition.

Frustrating Kitty machine . This machine is very difficult to thread, and so risks frustrating and "turning" off a potential young sewer. Adults found it hard to get at the needle, removing the needle guard etc. Would not recommend this machine. I will end up teaching my grand-daughters on a regular machine. I recall a jnr. machine that I had as a child, it was user friendly, and this one is not.

Crayola Fabric Markers.... . Last year I used Crayola Fabric Markers for a VBS, t-shirt, craft project. I tested the fabric makers on an old t-shirt to see how easy they would be to use. Children from 1st grade through 6th grade were coloring in a t-shirt design. I was very pleased with these markers, they were much easier for the kids to use than fabric crayons or fabric paints.

When coloring a design on a t-shirt, the fabric must be kept tight. I put a copy of the design on a magazine, then placed the magazine, with the design on top, inside the t-shirt. (so the design could be seen through the shirt)Then stapled around the design, keeping the shirt tight. I prepared 80 t-shirts in this way.

The colors are bright & don't run. The markers should not be shaken, should be re-capped as soon as possible, and should be stored in a horizontal position.

The design must be heat set which can be done by ironing the back of the design using a back and forth motion for 4 minutes...or...the design can be placed in a dryer, using the hottest setting, for 30 minutes.

I have bleached the sample t-shirt twice, surprisingly the Crayola Fabric Marker design was not affected. It's as bright as the first day I made it.

Excellent product excellent value . I purchased this for craft projects for birthday parties for our school-aged daughters. We did iron-on transfers on canvas bags and t-shirts. The fabric markers worked very well, and were a great value when I compared prices of a similar product at our local retail craft store.

As always, I received the product quickly and in excellent condition.

Not your standard construction paper . This is not much heavier than printer paper - I haven't tried yet, but suspect it would run though the printer with no problems. It is alright for crafts that do not require a heavier weight paper. We cut it into 1/2" strips to make a paper chain for our Christmas tree.

Awesome Value!!! Great 'daily use' Construction Paper. . While this is not, as other reviewers have mentioned, the 'thick' heavy-weight construction paper, it's thicker than printer paper, and a fun colorful paper for kids. My children go through A LOT of paper, they are drawing and 'project' fiends, so this is a perfect value for us, and as it's less dense, it's better for the environment and the recycling box. I did purchase the 300-sheet pack of heavy weight for specific 'projects', and I think both packages offer value in different regards. It's a HUGE stack, about the size of 2 or 2.5 reems of Printer paper. Vibrant colors, good texture and TONS of paper, can't be beat.

It's paper. . I have to admit I've never touched the stuff, but my 4 year old's been using it for over a month now and never once complained about the weight. :)
