It DOES erase! . I've read that people have had trouble with erasing with this heart-shaped DoodlePro, the egg-shaped one, and the Christmas tree-shaped one. The way you erase it is to simply rub the "eraser" side of the pen on the BACK of the board, not on the front where you draw. I actually found this out by doing some research online, I too was frustrated to think that it doesn't erase, but a 30-second Internet search solved the problem.I like this smaller DoodlePro because it's easier to travel with. Both of my kids have a small one, and I actually keep them in the car. We have larger ones in the house.

Doesn't erase!!! . This compact version doesn't have a slider that erases or resets the board, instead you are supposed to rub the top of the pen on it. BUT IT DOESN"T EVER TOTALLY REFRESH IT. It's all gray and smudged looking. Plus, I'm a grown up, there's no way my toddler is going to be able to do it. TERRIBLE! I wanted the compact size for an airplane trip, but I guess I have to upgrade. Don't get this one, get one with the little slider switch that truly refreshed the board!

this was $20 at Toys R us . This same kit was in the big toy book last Christmas (2006). It was less than twenty five dollars. My kids loved it but the wood case hinges did break rather quickly. Shop around for a good deal.

Why so much on Amazon? . Great gift but only $32.99 at Toys R Us this year. Why such a MAJOR price difference on this site? Ridiculous!

Disappointing Case . The contents of the case are wonderful! It contains crayons, colored pencils, markers, oil markers, water colors (with one small brush), glitter, glue, scissors (no paper). I bought this for my 8 yr. old grandson who enjoys and does well in using art to express himself. The case arrived in shrink wrap. I immediately saw the handle was cracked and one edge of the case was chipped. The handle broke in two. Rather than return it and since we do woodworking, I decided we would repair the handle. We have glued it. The repair was not perfect; and I now must sand and restain. In retrospect I could have bought something equal to this case at an arts and crafts store or possibly bought each of the Crayola contents in separate packages. The contents are great; the case very disappointing. I bought the smaller art kit for my granddaughter. The colors were packed in Crayola boxes. Paper, scissors and glue included. I had to set up the kit. We have to glue in the liners of the case. When you close the lid the contents fall out.

However when it arrived--whether it was damaged prior to packaging or after----the wooden handle was broken and there was a big piece off the side of the wooden case. Nice Art Set - Buy somewhere else . I saw this same art set at our local Toys 'R Us and didn't immediately buy it because I wanted to see if I could get it cheaper on Amazon (which is often the case). Toys 'R Us was selling the same item for $34.99 which is needless to say where I purchased it. Looks to be a very nice art set for my daughter.

Awesome Item for Christmas! . We got this as a Santa gift for our 6 year old daughter. She hasn't opened it yet, obviously, since it's not Christmas but it arrived on time and it wasn't broken. We did, however, buy it from Toys R Us. Just wanted to review on here, as well. I have shopped at amazon.com for YEARS and have always been pleased with their service and their competitive pricing. That being said, I can not believe that this is going for $75 now! I bought it at Toys R Us for $24.99 a few weeks ago! They are now out of stock, and maybe Crayola is discontinuing this product, which would explain the sky-high price on amazon. It's a great set, but definitely not worth paying $75 for it! Save your money and get the Crayola Super Art Coloring Kit - your child will still be thrilled and you will still be able to sleep at night! :)

Creative & Fun . How do you play this toy?
You place the dots by following a design pattern, spray with water, wait for several minutes, and then remove from the tray with the dots all fused together.

My 5-yr old son loves this this toy. He actually loves every step from placing the dots into the pen to the final water spraying. It comes with a pen with 4 chambers to separate different colors. The red dome top part serves as a little funnel when you attach it upside down to make it easier to put the dots into the pen. There is a small attachment with a green jelly like nib to pick up individual dots if they mess up. You have two design trays and three double sided templates. May I remind you that the 2 trays are for different patterns, so if the template does not coincide with the tray holes then it is designed for the other tray. To place each dot, you have to press a button on the side of the pen. To choose a different color, you twist the pen to open up a different color chamber.

The next step after placing all the dots into its corresponding hole is to spray the pattern with water. You have to wait approximately 20 minutes before you can take it out from the tray. Actually, you just need to check the dots and the tray if they are completely dry. It may take only 15 minutes or more depending how soaked they are. Removing the pattern can be a tricky part. You have to be careful or they may break apart. What we do is scrape it carefully with the template.

My son need to be guided in the beginning. He gets frustrated when he accidentally nudged the tray and most of the dots were thrown out of place. After a few more tries he was able to be more careful and he can do the whole process from A to Z.

This is a nice creative toy. It is guaranteed to engage them at least half an hour or more of constructive and productive time play. It is a little expensive, which is my only gripe. Refills are also not cheap and does not give you a lot of dots.

This did not work . This toy didn't work well at all. First off, it doesn't make the classic button that you might be thinking it does. Secondly, everything about it is made out of the cheapest stuff possible. Even the part of the button that should poke through fabric is made out of flimsy plastic, and I dont think it would be able to poke through anything. Thirdly, it is very hard to use. You have to assemble the poker to the back of the button and it took my husband and I a long time to be able to get it in right. The device that is supposed to pop out the button didnt work at all- it was be easier to squeaze the cap onto your button with your fingers.

unpleased . I got the EZPop button maker for my grand daughter for christmas. She loved it and used up all the buttons in a hurry. The box indicts that you can get refills, but when I went to order them I was told by their customer service that refills were not available. Not only were they not available NOW, they have not ever been available. I told them this was simply not acceptable and it was false advertising, but I have not had any satisfaction from this company as to date.

Fun button maker toy . My daughter took the EZ pop button maker to camp so she could make buttons for friends. It was a big hit. I will get more supplies for next year and we'll send markers so she can make her own buttons. The buttons were really easy to make (she's 12 and my 9 year old made some too) and its a super cute idea. It would make a fun craft with friends or fun "game" at a childs party. This is a childs toy so keep that in mind - these are not professional buttons. The quality is still good and the buttons have lasted for a couple of months. They are sharp too as I stuck myself really well the first time I dug my fingers into the button-backs bag. Ouch.

I love it!!!!!!! . I just got this for Christmas and I love it! It was hard to figure out how to put the pins in the back though. I had fun making lots of buttons!

Really awesome idea poorly mounted stamps... . Since I own hundreds of rubber stamps,I think that's the only reason I have anything negative to say about these stamps. Basically the stamps are really unique and who can resist the Emily the Strange design? However, the stamps are pretty hard to use. It starts with the idea that the wood itself is too lightweight--if you have ever bought, owned or used stamps from the brand Anita's you understand what that means. When applying pressure, the stamp rocks back and forth because the wood is too light. The second thing wrong with the stamps is that the rubber portions are not trimmed properly. Since the rubber itself isn't trimmed, when trying to print an image you will get little halos (or boxes) printed along with the design. That obviously isn't something that probably bothers an average person, but to me I couldn't resist mentioning it. The designs however are really unique, not something a lot of people would find in the mainstream and it really adds a personal touch to letters. The package is neat and it does come with little cards and envelopes. I also have to add that when purchasing this, the ink pads will probably be trash since mine were dried out. Overall, I have no complaints with the graphics or the packaging, just the rubber stamp quality itself. With enough patience these can be used, just not as quickly as I would've liked.

best set so far . The Play-doh breakfast set is the most popular set we own. The food looks close to real and since my 3 children (ages 4-10) love breakfast, they have fun making real looking meals. This set makes a sunny side up egg, with bacon, Canadian ham, toast, a cheese omelet with mushrooms. It makes big brown waffles and many other little items like a block of cheese, pad of butter, and small fruits. We take digital pictures of the best results, so the playdoh can be recycled quickly without tears.

fun! . my 2.5 year old son and i love cooking together and one of our favorite breakfasts to make is waffles! i don't let him near the waffle iron, though, it gets so hot so the play-do version is perfect. this was a christmas gift this year and almost a month later, it has been used several times. the only downside is that, while getting creative and making realistic play-do foods, we mixed the colors together (like for the fried egg; the yellow and white) and now we have a lot of swirled play-do. i guess that's probably bound to happen, toy or not though...

we have a lot of fun together with this toy, which was my original goal. more fun to come, too!

grandkids love it . I bought one of these at the local thrift store, because my grandson fell in love with it. I know I'd never pay $60 for it, but it's been quite a hit here. It's obviously durable, if it's surviving it's second set of kids.

Great novelty but short lived fun . The stencils that it comes with are really good but they are constantly falling out of the slots. They can't be used for anything else as they don't really have holes, just clear space. Still it would be a 5 star product if the drawing lasted longer. Unfortunately, parts of drawings start to fade sometimes before you have even finished the stencil. If the room is dark sometimes it lasts up to a minute but certainly not in a well lit room. We found it on sale for a few dollars at Christmas and for that it was worth it. It is certainly the "cool" toy when friends come over but they only play with it for a few minutes. The button to turn the light on is hard to hold down for smaller children but my 3-year-old can do it. While she uses it to draw on occasion, mostly she uses it as a flashlight to shine in her mouth and nose or to shine purple light everywhere and sometimes to play doctor (ultrasound machine I think, from seeing mine). It really doesn't work well for any of those since the light is so small but she likes how it looks in the dark. If you keep the stencils in a plastic bag, it travels well for car trips and you won't find them all through the house as much. The "dotted" and "dashed" features seem pretty useless unless you want to draw a road that will disappear before you can draw the car. The batteries last a very long time though.

Lots of fun :) . My sons were so excited when they received this. And remained enthralled with it for hours. They absolutely love the extruder, but started getting creative with the cutters as well. Endless Fun . My two children (ages 4 and 2) have endless hours of fun with this play doh set. It includes a variety of different "cookie cutter" shapes, an extruder, a rolling pin with design attachments, of course play doh, and my children's favorite, a play doh knife. Everything seems durable.

This toy really fosters creativity, as children can make everything from cookies, to spaghetti, to animals. Overall, a great, classic set that my children and I are thrilled to have.

Get set! . This is a great set! I looked at a lot of play doh sets and decided on this one. My mom and I both have one at our house for my son to play with. These are a lot of different pieces and the shaper is fun!

Lots of Play Doh . I wanted the cutters, sissors, knives and shapes for the play doh and felt like I received more Play Doh than I wanted and less Shapers than expected.

Great Fun . It's play-doh...so you have to expect that it gets messy. Still, it keeps my 6 year old busy for hours at a time...so I don't mind :)

I love it . I bought this for my oldest nephew and now he and his brother both play with the set and have a great time.

fun with four year olds . My neighbors daughter who is four really seemed to enjoy this toy. It's shapes and colors were fun to explore. Somewhat limited in diversity, it could use a rolling pin.

Great size but a little thin . This paper pad works well with pencils, markers and crayons, but it is a little too thin for paints. We've tried finger paints, tempera and watercolors, but it just doesn't hold up well to any of them. I put individual sheets of paper on the easel for my 3 year old to use, but if I needed to readjust the painting while it was wet it often ripped (and if I waited to move it after it was dry, the paper always curled up).

If you are looking for a good sized pad of paper for drawing, this is a great product. However, if you need paper for your child to paint on, you'd be better off buying something else.

misleading advertising . CONS: this product states on the package "50 sheets of premium heavy weight white bond paper" and "great for pencils, markers, paints and crayons!" The paper is no thicker then cheep computer paper. I had looked for the weight rateing for this paper, but it is not listed. It is less then, but around the thinkness of 20 lb, copy paper. the box it was send in was too big and the paper shifed resulting in most of the corners getting bent. even quickly and spairingly useing"water color tempera poster paint" on it results in warped paper. you can't really keep pad on easel.
Pros: its cheep, its bright white. little kids don't care about, quality.

Perfect with or without the easel . This is great art paper to have around, whether you have an easel or not and a good value.

drawing paper . Nice large tablets of paper. Comes in two separate packs which makes it great if you have 2 kids.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Easel Paper (3 pack bundle) Each of these items are very high quality, and I have recommended them to everyone I talk to about what to get their children for birthday/Christmas any gifting opportunity. The smock is able to fit all of my children, despite the wide age range. The easel has settings that are adjustable for different height settings, which is useful for those with younger children, when they grow, the easel can grow with them. My children were elated with this gift, and I will purchase Melissa & Doug products as often as possible, the quality is the best I've found among children's toys.

We love these! . We don't have an easel but these are so much fun for our preschooler & toddler. They lay on the floor and use crayons or watercolor with these oversize drawing pads. When they've used up all the pages, we'll definitely buy another set. I put 5 stars for the educational value since I can use these to teach my kids to write or distinguish pictures that I draw, etc.

HUGE!! . The thickness of this paper is very nice, the kids can paint on it and it holds up, unlike some other thin paper I've bought for them. But it is HUGE! Its great for the easel but its hard to store, for me.

Great for the kids . I have a M&D eisel with the paper roll, but the kids broke the roll holder, so I turned to these. I clip them to the board and the kids go at with their crayons, markers, and paint.

Great for anchor charts!!!! . I am a teacher and I use these to make my anchor charts for my class. They are the perfect size. I also use them at home with my kids to make wonderful works of art!

Child artist here! . Great pads of paper--have Amazon mail it directly to the recipient, though, the pads are large and heavy (mailing cost high if not mailed by Amazon).

A great deal for a great product . My daughter received this rock tumbler as a gift and all of my children loved it - the finished product is really impressive if you have kids who like really shiny and very interesting rocks. She used them to make jewelry and she also gave several away as gifts. Yes, it is loud, but I've never known anyone who didn't keep their rock tumbler in the garage, my family included. The fact that it takes a long time to get the finished product is part of the learning experience; there are two stages to the polishing process and kids learn that it takes a lot of polishing to produce such a beautiful rock in the end. The Grand Canyon didn't erode in a day, right?! Give this rock tumbler a try and you won't be sorry!

Rock Tumbler . I read most of the reviews on this page and felt that it was important to note that I purchased this tumbler not for rocks but to tumble small amounts of brass for reloading. I figured at $11 (kind of pissed it went down to $9 right after I purchased it) it was a steal for small amounts of brass. Right now I am using it for 308 brass only and since my rifle is a bolt action I dont intend to shoot tons of it in each sitting. So, I tossed about 20 pieces of once fired in and put in some media. Seems to be doing the job nicely.

Durability: not sure but tumbling brass does not require it to be on nonstop for a month either.

Noise: ok so if you dont like noise this is not for you. Some people compared it to a "rock slide" or "racket". Yes it is noise so I say do not use this in or near any place you want to be quiet. In my case it will soon be going into a remote shead. If this thing was in or near my bedroom I could wake up at any time of night and think the random smack smack smacking was someone breaking into my place.

For $9 to $11 it is what it is, dont forget that.

Buyer Beware! . We bought this for our niece, who is very much into gems and stones. She was so excited when she opened it and wanted to get started right away. It was EXTREMELY unfortunate that the process would take SEVEN DAYS - and that's just to complete step one! The rocks have to tumble continuously in the tumbler for seven days - that's 168 hours of listening to rocks tumble around. Needless to say, her mother was LESS than pleased. They ended up shutting it off and never going back to it after just a day and a half. What a disappointment!

My son begged for this... . I read all the other reviews before purchasing this rock tumbler. Here is what I found out after it arrived:
-Not as loud as I would have thought, but we put it to run in the kids room.
-Has to run continuously for at least a week.
-The rocks come out shiny, but also quite a bit smaller than when they started.
-Somewhat messy due to the dirty water after the rocks have tumbled.
-A neat idea, since its a hands-on toy for kids, but the waiting was challenging!

I am not sure if I would buy it again, since the novelty wore off fairly quickly for my kids. But if your child is really into rocks and jewelry, it may be a great purchase.

Very Noisy . I love the idea of a rock tumbler and the educational value of it. However, it takes a very long time to do (weeks) and lots of patience. Our home is fairly small and we couldn't stand the constant noise of the tumbler day in and day out. Finally after the first step (days) I had to call it quits. If you have a place where the noise wouldn't bother you and a lot of patience then you may like this toy.

great way to learn about patience and erosion at the same time . I am a home schooling mom of 4, and when I saw this tumbler on sale I just had to get it. Although it is not a large as the more expensive tumblers it does a great job. Yes, it is noisy but go check out the natural source of erosion(rivers, ocean) not a very quiet process either, and hard to show begining and end results. We keep it in the garage.
My very impatiant son had to wait a full month for results but he also was learning to read the calander and count down days to change the grit and to finally being done. He can also explain erosion and how the rocks became smooth he is a 1st grader. I find hands on knowledge is the best knowledge.
They also give mounting for jewelry, he has already made all the jewelry and has big plans to sell it from the front yard.
My only complaint about the product is that it only comes with enough grit for one use, and no instructions on how much to add if you get more of your own.
Yet overall my son loves it and we went to a rock shop were they had tumbling rocks $3 a lb and we have already started our 2nd batch.

Cons Review

Rock Tumbler sounds like a rock slide!! . My wife and I were very excited to get this for our son. It seemed like such a great idea to see rough rocks go in and when the process was done smooth ones come out. Well, we never thought that the machine had to run for a MONTH!! A solid month with no shut offs. This is the first problem. The second issue we had with this is it is incredibly loud. So, running it for a month wouldn't have been such a problem if it didn't sound like a rock slide! I do NOT recommend this product unless you have a shed that you can keep the thing in while it is running. Major thumbs down on this one.

Not worth it . This comes with its own bag of rocks to tumble, but the assortment is quite lacking. Also, included is only enough "grit" material for one set of rocks.
