a big hit! . I ordered this for my 12-year-old son for Christmas. He enjoys chess, Sudoku and math, so it seemed a good choice, and he LOVES it. I think it was his favorite present. I just wish they had more advanced versions (for next year).

Great logic puzzle book for older elementary or early middle school . My 11 year old loves these puzzle books. We started at the level B book and worked our way through to this one. Lots of fun and requires kids (or adults) to use their logic and math skills. Definitely more fun for most kids age 10-14 than word searches and many of the other puzzle books especially if your kid likes math.

Great for those grown children . I bought this, Landscapes, and Gardens in the Color Counts line for my wife as Xmas gifts. Aside from the "duplicate" pictures in there, where one is free form coloring and the other is by numbers, I really have no complaints. Even that issue is a small quibble for such a niche item. I was honestly just happy to find someone making more complex books aimed at the slightly older crowd. The pictures are complex enough to keep her entertained and therefore, I can honestly say I would suggest this to anyone who knows an older child or an adult who still enjoys to color. Hopefully these will be popular enough that Mindware continues to publish new ones.

So popular my daughter wants new copies . I bought this book and it's companion (Extreme Dot to Dot Animals) for my daughter this year for Christmas. It's now February, and she's asking me to buy her a new copy of the same books. I was surprised to hear her ask for the same book instead of a new one -- I knew she was taking them to afterschool every day to work on, but it turns out they've been so popular with all the other kids that she's shared out the pages with her friends, and wants a new copy so she can do the pages she didn't get the first time around.

Extreme Dot to Dot . Our 10 year old loves this Dot to Dot book. It is definitely challenging! When she first opened the book, she was quite shocked to see how many dots were on each page but as soon as she started one, she couldn't put it down. Great item!!! Highly recommended!!

Got it for my 11 yr old... . ...and it was all I could do to ONLY do one of his pages...I wanted to do more but I DID buy it for him...so I ordered two more (different issues). Was a great gift for my 60ish father...a change in pace from word finds, puzzle books, etc.

Challenging fun and educational! . I bought this as a Christmas present for my 10 year old. He absolutely loves it. He'll squeeze in a few minutes whenever he can (before bed, waiting to go to school). He'll also work on it in my office while I'm at the computer so he can chat with me (something he can't do while reading). For now at least, he'd rather work on this than play with LEGOs or read, which had been his favorite activities. He is learning about explorers in school, so he really likes trying to guess what the picture is as he works on it. And he's been able to figure out many of the individual people. I'll definitely order a couple more of these for him.

So cool! . I got this for my son's 5th birthday, I think--or maybe it was for Christmas shortly thereafter. He's quite an advanced kid but has trouble finding things. That's why I got this--to help him learn to search. It was a bit too much at first (which I expected). But once he got the hang of searching, he loved it!

Amazing puzzles! . We bought this puzzle book for our 13 year old and he loves it! It is absolutely amazing to see a page full of numbers and watch it take form. There are so many dots that you generally have no clue what the picture could be until you are well into it! So much fun, even adults get sucked into wanting to try one! We also bought different versions for our 7 and 11 year olds.

9 year old son loves these extreme dot to dots! . There are so many dots per page! Each one creates a very detailed picture. My son loves to take in the car and work on while waiting for his sister's dance class to get out. He just finished one that was 1476 dots!

This book has increased his concentration and excitement for counting. He is adding up all the numbers when he is done with a couple of pages and bragging that he has counted up to 2,000! In the Hole! . Went ahead and gave my son and daughter in law a little side presents early; this one being my daughter in law's Christmas present; and with coloring pencils and now with 2 books, left with decisions, decision, decisions.Had great difficulties in deciding which one she should start first, in spite of my warnings it's easier said than done!I'm impressed with the quality of paper which had improved over the years, reducing the glare. However, it is challenging and you can find yourself trapped "in the hole" as my daughter in law just found that out for herself. Great quality of paper; works with all media however, I would recommend if you use coloring ink pens to at least have a smooth cardboard under the design as to prevent bleeding through just in case. This book makes you really think; putting your creative skills to work and deploy.With those with pencils, it's excellent for shading and blends; for those who are extremists going to mixed media with multiple variants of medias - would be quite a feat indeed!But be careful ... you might find yourself ending up "in a hole"!:-D

Beautiful book . I purchased this for our 4 1/2 year old son. He spends 3-4 hours/day working on this coloring book. My husband I have even been coloring in it. Heck, I had a playdate, and the moms were coloring in it! Really a cool book, beautiful illustrations!

Great stress therapy! . This is my first color by number book as an adult. I have other intricate pattern books that I have been enjoying for many years. I use Crayola colored pencils. I am looking forward to ordering the Color Counts Animals book as well. This is great stress therapy anytime of day and my girls enjoy doing them with me!

MindWare Color Counts Landscapes Opinions
Paint by number meets coloring book for all ages! . I have to admit to a lifelong love of coloring. I own an entire tin full of marker sets which I recently went through to check which ones still work. I love writing with multicolor pens, and even get a thrill from a new pack of crayons every few years. I paint watercolors and acrylic landscapes, so I'm already familiar with the paint-by-number concept. I have several sets from arts and crafts stores which are partially finished due to a color running out, or a blooper too big to be fixed, etc. This coloring book gives the fun of coloring by number with less mess. While you can use paint to color these pages, it might not be the best choice. I bought some 'paint pens' with this order and they work well, don't bleed through. I wouldn't recommend this for young children. Stick with a coloring book that has color by number pages in it and a pack of crayons. This book is more complex and very detailed, which is why I really love it! After you finish the color by number picture, there is a number free copy of the same image you can color however you wish. I definitely will use those number free copies (but it really helps to finish the numbered copy first, the detail often hides what the picture is until almost completed). Each numbered picture has a list of colors for numbers 0-9, in other words, ten colors. If you don't have markers or pencils, etc., marked with color names, you'll have to test colors to see if you think a certain one is 'light orange' or 'magenta', etc. But discovering the unique quirks of this book is half the fun. You'll want to either tear out the page before coloring (they are perforated) or put cardboard or thick paper between pages. These are NOT printed on the back side (yay!), and have excellent quality paper that doesn't bleed side to side, but most markers will bleed through to back of paper, and onto the next page. I've been using Bic Color Collection Ultra fine point permanent markers, and so far they work great for the amount of detail required. Thicker points will work, but if you want precision, go for a very fine line marker or sharp pencil. Overall, a very excellent coloring book for more advanced kids interested in creative art or adults who want a stress-free activity every now and then. When I finish this book, you can bet I'll be buying one of the others in the series. Happy coloring!

math books . I got this to see what they were like. I have a lot of nieces and nephews, and I love to buy this stuff for them when I can. I didn't find the instructions to be very clear. For example, I still don't know what on earth to do with things not beyond the decimal point. How do I explain that to them if they need it? (Well, their parents anyway.) It will be enjoyable for them though. They love to color. And not all appreciate math. The squares are not the best size, but the spaces to do the problems are. The graphs show up words one said Try Out, but I must of done something wrong cause the Y was missing...? (A problem do to the missing instructions.) Overall, this is a seemingly good book,and I will be buying this series for possibly all..18 of them. Do the math on that... Seriously, it is a decent book.

Good but not what I expected . I must not have read the description very well, or maybe it didn't have a very descriptive summary. I was expecting a variety of puzzles, or something similar to Sudokus. This book is all logic of order puzzles (like: If Beth, Mary, and Jenny ran a race, Jenny finished after Mary, but not last, what order did they finish in? Of course, the puzzles in the book are a little more complicated than that, but they are all similar). My brother still enjoyed it, this stuff is right up his alley. It is very good for educational purposes and for kids who enjoy a challenge, its just not a toy or a puzzle book, which is what I thought it was.

great for 4 year olds or anyone who can't read yet . I was reading that analogies was the key to someone learning. My family always loved making obscure ones as a game when I was young. I thought I'd try something fun for my nephew. Well this was a big hit and having little pictures was a clever way of getting past the still learning to read situation. The biggest payoff was after this book he was making up his own analogies where before it I don't think he ever made one. A little investment now that will have a big payoff throughout school and beyond - I hope. Ha.

Great for 4 year olds . I got this book for my 4 year old, who reads and does simple math (addition/subtractions). He found it pretty easy at first , I would say first 15 pages. It has pictures at first and then it only gives you the words that describe analogy. Its a great book for him to do on the car rides or in between his lessons. I am going to order a medium level in a couple of months.

Hours of fun for low cost! . This was my 6-year-old granddaughter's absolute favorite Christmas gift! It is her "take-along" of choice in the car, to Nanny's house, everywhere! It has reinforced and increased her counting skills and ability to focus on detail. She started with some of the easier ones, but she recently completed the unicorn dot-to-dot with over 1400 dots, and she was so excited! No stopping her now. It makes additional gift shopping easy because there are more books in the series. And it provides long-lasting entertainment, too (not like so many other Christmas gifts). She spends a long time each day working on this, yet we are a month out from Christmas and it is still going strong. Good value for the cost!

Fun to do- Dot to Dots . Most dot to dot books are obvious. You see the numbers and can tell immediately what you will be drawing. This Extreme Dot to Dot is exactly that! Extreme. There are literally hundreds of dots making up these puzzles. Some are even well over 1,000! you can not see what you will be creating until you get pretty far into the puzzle. These Dot to Dots are actually fun for both my 10 year old and my 14 year old! If your child is working on learning larger numbers, this would be a fun tool to use. Definitely not your ordinary dot to dot book.

dot to dot legends and lore . When I first opened the book, I thought the dots were really close together. Also, I enjoy doing dot-to-dots where they stop at a certain point, and then resume. After doing several of the puzzles they DO have have that feature, and the dots do not seem so close together. This is a good dot-to-dot book. I will buy more of them.

fun way to practice number sequencing . Both my 6 year old and 8 year old love this dot to dot. It is a fun way to slip in a little math practice.

Extreme Dot to Dot . A great escape and keeps you counting and the refernces to the pictures were educational. So good to have Dot to Dot that had more then a few numbers.

Challenging . This puzzle book is loved by my granddaughters, but, is also loved by me. Great, challenging, and also fun.

I wanted to do it too!!!! . I bought this for my 11 yr old son, and asked if I could do a page. It was ALL I could do to only do one page, and actually I obsessed over it for a while asking to see his progress, etc--just itching to do another but not wanting to do the book for him (hey, it was fun.) I ended up buying me one (different issue) and one for my 60ish father who doesn't like word find puzzle books or cross word books.

Low-tech fun for a change of pace! . Both my boys -- ages 10 and 12 -- really enjoy wild animals. They also love to draw. These dot-to-dots allow them to have the best of both worlds.

They are challenging but there are solutions in the back of the book which help immensely. Both kids were happily amused for an hour or more working on just one of the designs with over 1400 dots... Frankly, I wouldn't have the patience but they really like it so more power to them. They are thrilled as they are able to complete each puzzle without making any "mistakes" (which isn't easy given that the numbers are very small and some of the puzzles span 2 pages!)

I think these give the kids a great break from video games, watching TV etc and for the cost -- the price of this entertainment can't be beat!

Highly recommend if your kid (or you!) likes dot-to-dots and want a challenge...

Dot to dot fun! . My 6-year-old son launched into this book Christmas day and has not put it down since! It is an engrossing activity with amazing results. The pictures are truly astounding! Great resource for a young mind that wants to try something a little different.

Not just for kids . This is a great time-filler when you are sitting on an airplane and can't turn on your Kindle yet. It is nice change from a crossword or sudoku puzzle.

dot to dot . too much for 8yr old. I bought this and a calmer dot to dot extreme. He really struggled with these huge ones. I made some copies and did them myself and they are involved and time consuming. takes a lot of patience. if you don't like tedious and precise work you won't enjoy this. cool to look at your accomplishment in the end though!

A great challenge!!!!! . I was impressed with the samples of the dot to dot you could download off of Internet. That convinced me that was what I wanted to order. As to durability, it is consumable, so.....However, the paper used in the pages is not flimsy and will stand erasing. Also, to prevent frustration for a child, it can be done in several sittings. In the future, I may order more as gifts.

great book . excellent book. I have always enjoyed dot to dots. hope more come out in this series. Great for kids and adults alike.

So cool! . I got this for my son's 5th birthday, I think--or maybe it was for Christmas shortly thereafter. He's quite an advanced kid but has trouble finding things. That's why I got this--to help him learn to search. It was a bit too much at first (which I expected). But once he got the hang of searching, he loved it!

good quiet activity . This is a fun, quiet activity. Some of the coloring areas are tiny, so you'll need sharp, colored pencils. Some of the colors are quite specific (magenta), so you'll need the large pack of pencils. Make sure the pencils have the color names. I don't know if fine-tipped markers will bleed through. If your child loves coloring, they'll like this product. Also, there are plenty of color-by-number pages AND pages for your child to be creative with their own color choices.

Awesome Coloring Book! . I purchased this for our 4 1/2 year old son. He spends 3-4 hours/day working on this coloring book. My husband I have even been coloring in it. Heck, I had a playdate, and the moms were coloring in it! Really a cool book, beautiful illustrations!

Perfect . Bought this for someone else, but it's great. They love it. They're good pictures, moderately complicated, but easy to color. It's really great, sturdy paper too.

Great count by number book . I bought this for my 5-year old son for Christmas and he loves it. Be aware that there are some pages without numbers so that you can color them as you like, but he doesn't like those pages as much. I would highly recommend this for kids.

Addicting . I bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas and he loves it! The problem is, so do I. I found myself finishing his pictures after he went to bed or we would be working on the same picture at the same time and bumping into each other. I finally gave in and bought Landscapes so that we could each have our own book! I find it very relaxing after a stressful day at work. I bought the Mindware markers to go with it so we would have plenty of colors.

great but lower quality paper . I love this book. Color-by-numbers are so hard to find that are somewhat difficult. The pictures are so beautiful and great for children or adults. The only problem is the paper, Markers bleed through. I use Pic Mark It pens and have to tear out the pages before I color them. My 12-year-old cousin spent 3 hours working on a picture and was so proud of himself and he usualy hates coloring but these books pulled him in. I have now bought the whole set for his birthday.

Color Counts . Bought few different Mindware coloring books for my kids (10,8,5) for the holidays. This is the one they all preferred. I had to call around locally to find another one pronto so coloring time could be the quiet activity I had hoped it would be! The pictures come out really pretty. Like that some sheets are not numbered so one can make his/her own color choices.

HOURS OF FUN . In simple words, my 10 year old granddaughter says this dot to dot book is AWESOME!!!!!Loves the fact that you don't know what the picture is until you're finished.Oops!! This review was supposed to be for Mindware Dot to Dot Animals. I did purchase Color Counts Animals; however, she has just begun to color the first picture. It looks like this book will be as fun as the dot to dot.

Exciting . I ordered all the the Mimdwear Books I couldfind at Amazon for Christmas, and as I looked at them I was very pleased with the content and the exterior, they seem to be top quality - I would recommend these in a heartbeat. I am sure my little granddaughter will love them come Christmas morning.

Had this book before purchase this for a gift . I just can't wait to see how the eyes are going to pop wide open once the person opens this gift. While yes, it is numbered and you can color it by number ....But HEY ADULTS - who says you had to follow the directions? Like Murphy's Law ... isn't Rules Made to be Broken? :-DGo Wild and Zany and use your own imagination even though it does have a side bar list of what color it is supposed to go where, but if you have had this book before, what the heck, you already know what it is ... get it again and use your mind and creativeness! Who says you have to play it by the book? Errr ... well it is the book - ha ha ha ha ha ....I am curious to know if the unsuspected party is going to follow the rules or break the rules? *grins*OOPS? Did you blunder? That's okay, because this book also has another page sans the numbers .. goodie goodie - double the fun!

Lots of fun! . My five-year-old asked for this for Christmas and it was already in play today! I was a little apprehensive because I thought, "Can't I just cut out these pieces and use our craft supplies?" However, I was pleasantly surprised. All of the supplies included are a good quality and the pre-cut mask shapes are cute and varied. My three-year-old got in on the action and made his very own pirate mask. The children worked happily together with little-to-no supervision. The masks were adorable.

Nice kit for making masks. my 6 year old enjoyed it a lot. the stickies dont hold the fuzzy balls very well, but other pars stuck OK, otherwise it is great. a lot of mix and match options and the kit can be used as an activity for the birthday or even be split up into party favors.

Kindergarten class loved this . I bought these for my daughter's kindergarten Halloween party. The kids had a lot of fun making and wearing the masks, so definitely a hit with the 5-6 year old crowd. Some were able to put the masks together without any help, most needed some help though. Having one parent for each 4 or 5 kids would be ideal. You do need to supply your own markers or crayons for coloring the masks.

Fair . Glue is not included which limited overall experience for five and seven year old. They became bored quickly. I put away for another day.

Better Than Expected! . The quality of paper in this book was better than expected! Bright white, decently thick, and the designs are only printed on one side of each page, so feel free to use whatever medium you want!

As far as the designs go, I personally like them a lot. And each design is different enough that you don't feel like you're coloring pretty much the same thing every page.

PLEASE NOTE: All (but one) of the pages of this book are repeated. In other words, for example, Page 1 and Page 16 are exactly the same design, as are 2 and 17, 3 and 18, etc. The middle page of the book is the only one that's not repeated. This is fine by me because I like to color the same pattern different ways to compare them. However, if you want a book full of exclusively unique designs per page, you might get disappointed.

Would definitely recommend!

This is one of the worst book I had ever been given! . I hated this book; not only is it repetitive - it lacks the challenge. Not to be sarcastic, but it is almost like looking at a red brick wall with mortar, with a splash of some whites and some grays here and there. I mean what all is there to it with the same old, same old. I had a hard time finding any challenges in this book. I am glad it was a gift to me which I didn't purchase.I would recommend this as a "Starter" book for children to young at heart who would like to try their hand in coloring with some type of media (crayons, pencils, pastels, etc.) other than that, it does get boring. To be frank and honest, attempts to try an abstract or psychedelic was a total failure; one cannot adhere to the repetition of the same old, some old; moreover even with shading and blends to multi-coloring. Basically, this is a basic book and not for the Advanced or higher tiered artists. I actually canned this book by donating it to the children's church for them to color with but even they lost interest in it very quickly. While a made some copies of some of the designs for the Youth / Teens; which they could color them, many of them started on a few areas and left it unfinished for they were bored and lost interest.I have had better books than these; but as implied - do not take m critic the wrong way. It is a great Starter as implied. Good quality of paper, so if you messed up, at least you have an opportunity to try it again in much of the designs except the middle one.
