relaxing fun . I would recomend this to anyone who loves to color or doodle. I used permenent markers to color mine and every page turns out beautiful. By using these markers you can see the color from the back side also thus creating a different look. Warning... this can be addicting!!

fairly easy very fun . At first I was dissapointed by the relitive simplicity of the designs. this feeling quickly subsided as I came to realize that the simplicity also made it easier to color, harder to mess up on and far more relaxing than say the "mystic mandalas" or "geometrics" books. if you are at least 10 years old, or are getting a present for someone who is... then I strongly reccomend buying this book. the paper is nice and thick and there are 2 copies of each design in the book, so sharing is a non-issue. if you like art get this book!

Beatiful and rewarding . I bought this book for myself and my son. We already own a few of them, but they are slightly less detailed. I thought that this one would be a nice challenge for him. I haven't gotten to color in it yet! He loves the designs, especially after he has personalized it with his own color scheme. He takes great pride in showing off his finished pieces, and I couldn't be more proud. This item arrived very quickly and with no problems at all. It is great for children and adults, especially when you want to get away from the TV or video games and spend time together.

Love it! . I have colored many mandalas and similar coloring pages before. While this one may not be my absolute favorite, it is definitely up there at the top. Each page has different elements and a world of possibilities. I personally use colored pencils though I think that watercolor would be great as well. As a therapist I have used these pages with clients as a means of managing anxiety and depression as well as encouraging self-expression. And at home I often use them to wind down. I wish there were more out there like this!

I like it . I think this pattern book is fun. I like that it is single sided and it has two sets of the same pattern. for those of us that need extra copies. I recommend it.

Cool Designs . This is a different kind of coloring book. My oldest hasn't lost her interest in coloring at age 13, but she wanted more unique things to color, which is why I bought these. She has really liked them and there are some really cool looking designs in it and they look even better when they are colored. The are detailed, however, and require a lot of time. My daughter works on it for a half hour or so, and comes back to it later.

7yo loves it! . My 7yo picked this and 3 other Mindware coloring books with his birthday money. He loves them! We really like that the pages are blank on the back. The reason I bumped the rating down is that most of the pictures are in the book twice. So even though there are 23 coloring pages, there are only 12 different pictures. The 12th picture, which is the middle page picture, does appear a second time in the book--on the title page and therefore smaller. I certainly didn't realize he would be getting so few different pictures, and was rather disappointed with Mindware for doing that. It doesn't bother my son, though. He just sees it as an opportunity to try it a different way or to start over if he messes up on the first one.

This is a great gift for an older child . I bought this coloring book, along with several others, for my grandaughter's birthday. SHe is old enough to enjoy the challenge of this type of book. In my opinion, it would be too challenging for anyone under the age of, say, ten or eleven.

Well worth it . This is a great craft and then toy for girls. The projects are all packaged individually so that you don't have to figure out which pieces go for which food to make. Everything is pre punched for the girl who is learning to sew. My 6 year old and I are working on them together. Some may be harder then others so I've choosen the easier ones first. It will be a project to do over time, adding a different treat each time. I think they will make nice treats for my daughter to play with when she plays with her American Girl Doll. We keep it separated from her other dolls. These are special treats to be handled properly or they might loose their shape. It is not for little girls who toss everything in a pile. It is nice to have young girls things to do with out pushing them to grow up so fast.

Dont waste your money . This is a total waste of money....The string and other peice colors dont make the picture. When you put it together no matter how you follow the direction(which are really bad directions) They dont look anything like the box. It looks like something a 2 year old made. Just search Felt food patterns and buy them on line and make them. Thats what I ended up having to do.

great sewing project for young kids . I bought this for my 7 yr old niece who is starting to enjoy the basics of sewing. Her mom helped her with it and said they both really enjoyed it. Alex is a great brand that I always trust. My daughter saw this and wanted one too, she is only 4. I got one for her and I'm sure she'll be able to do it too with help from her mother who loves to sew!

Great for teaching patience! . I bought this for our 7 yr old and admit it was a little difficult for her. As with any beginning needlework; tangling the thread and making correct stitches can be a frustrating. I think she will enjoy it even more when she is a bit older, of course then I don't know if her interest in playfood will last. Overall, I do enjoy kits like this, it teaches patience, survival skills and is more practical than most toys!

Cons Review

this is not the easy project it should be . I'm working on this with my daughter... this kit was appealing to me because the shapes were pre-cut- I assumed that this would mean everything would fit together properly but I was wrong. And the directions are over-simplified and not very helpful.

Great beginner project! . We bought these for our 6 year old daughter to sew and make for her sisters for Christmas. The prepackaged projects were terrific for a beginner and she was pleased with the results. Each one is easy to make, but did require some adult instruction - that's just what we wanted. For us, it was a great mother/daughter project to create a gift from one sister to another. We keep the food in a special box and it is used for pretend play. My girls don't destroy them and are careful with the food - but it could be easily destroyed if a child were rough - for instance, some of the details are simply stickers - they adhere WELL, but could be pulled off (just like decals on a plastic toy). We were pleased for our family - it was a great beginner sewing project, the food is very cute, and it's great for pretend play, but I wouldn't "just toss the food in the toybox".

Great fun treats . Nothing like a homemade treat for a child to play with over and over. Purchased book so we could make box full of goodies that our granddaughter could enjoy. Fill up a box and give it to her for Christmas. She will have many a tea party with her dolls and/or family. Some can even be made into magnets and tree ornaments,

Don't do it to yourself!! . My daughter received this set as a gift. We were excited as it seemed fun. However, this is not appropriate for smaller children. The small beads are so tiny. They roll all over the place. There is no way to handle them without spilling. Once they are in the butterfly tray, there is no way to put them away without spilling them everywhere. I'm 34 years old and I can't touch them without spilling - forget about a 6 year old. They stick to your fingers. Everytime we touch the set I hear dozens of tiny beads hitting the floor. I can't take it. Once they're on the floor, they are very difficult to find and we have a 1-year old child and a 1-year old dog to worry about eating them. I wouldn't suggest this set unless you give it to someone you really hate. I'm either hiding the set or throwing it away.

Great Pencils - but How to Sharpen? . These pencils are sturdy and easy for my kids to hold. Our set didn't include a vinyl case - but more importantly - how do you sharpen them? They are triangular and don't fit into our sharpener.

Wonderful size beautiful colors my favorite jumbo colored pencils . We have six children, and colored pencils are our preferred coloring tool. They are less easily damaged by chewing than markers or crayons, and you can't color on yourself like with markers. Also the colors are more sophisticated. So, we have tried quite a few jumbo colored pencils for our preschoolers and toddlers. This set by Melissa & Doug is easily my favorite, and here's why:

* Triangular shape. The corners are nicely rounded so it's comfortable to grip. But, the triangular shape makes for easier gripping and keeps the pencils from rolling away.

* Long length. Many jumbo colored pencils are shorter than standard colored pencils; these are not, which means more use.

* Many vibrant colors. Gorgeous, vivid colors are better than some we've tried, and I've never seen jumbo colored pencils in a set bigger than 8 or 12.

The only thing I would change is that these pencils do not have the color names written on them. That would be helpful sometimes in distinguishing between similarly colored pencils. There are two brown ones that have an almost identical exterior, and it would be easy to pick the wrong one when trying to match previous drawing. However, these pencils are still good enough to warrant a 5-star rating, and I recommend them to any parent of preschoolers or toddlers.

another great Melissa and Doug product - no vinyl case as stated . After loving Melissa and Doug crayons I thought I would give these a try for my almost three year old daughters. These pencils are great. They are thick, durable, brightly colored, and easy for little hands to grip and hold correctly. Definately worth the money. However, if you are expecting a clear vinyl case as the description states, I did not receive one. My pencils came in a an ordinary cardboard box with no case. This is not a problem for me and I honestly forgot that it stated that until I came back to write my review. But, I wanted to let you know in case it is a deciding factor for you.

Melissa and Doug's Jumbo colored pencils . These pencils are wonderful. The colors are bright, the triangular shape is easy to hold, and they are very sturdy. Just right for my grandson's 3 year old hands and for my arthritic ones. Excellent quality as always from Melissa and Doug. I've never been disapointed with any of the many products I've purchased made by them.

First Review Ever . I'm writing this review, first one ever, to say WTH... no sharpener... so within 5 minutes of her flattening out the pink one... this set became unusable to us...as she could just start coloring and then never be able to finish whatever she was working due to the lack of a sharpener. I love most Melissa and Doug products but this is a huge FAIL. In searching online for the only available German Kum Special Diameter sharpener for triangular pencils, which I'm gonna have to order, I see that most other triangular color pencil sellers include the sharpener...go for them in spite of your love for Melissa and Doug and buy their other products but not these pencils. Fun and Great Help in Holding Pencils Correctly . If the question is whether the 4 year old was thrilled...well, she oohed about getting all the pretty pencils but it wasn't her favorite Christmas present. From her mother's and my perspective, it was a GREAT gift! Having 24 colors is outstanding; the pencils being triangular will help her learn how to hold pencils properly. They'll be used and they'll be helping her and she'll have fun. That makes them perfect in my book!

Best colored pencils you can buy! . My 2 year old loves to color and we already have the Melissa & Doug jumbo crayons. THESE ARE AWESOME! They sharpen well with a jumbo size pencil sharpener and the tips rarely break. The shape is perfect for not rolling away. LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!!

Amazing Quality Stickers - and easy to do! . I was at first skeptical that my kids and I could really make our own stickers, but this is a very well made product and website. The website was easy to use, and my kids spent an hour making their own page of circle stickers. They had a lot of fun, and created their own name stickers. The "Sticker Maker' allows your kids to type their names and has a large range images and themes for anyone's liking. I was pleasantly surprised to see the glossy quality of stickers hold up when they came out of my printer. My girls have put their stickers up on their doors (each with their own name and design) and all over their school stuff. They made stickers using their school team logo and we favorite photos. The stickers are removable so there is no guck if your kids get out of hand where they put them! For me it was not a negative but the packaging says 'Inkjet' printer so if you have a "Laser" printer this product may not work with it. Otherwise, if you or your kids enjoy being creative and love stickers then this is a fantastic product.

Paying too much for the container . My nephew (five y. o.) absolutely loves this product--and he's picky. Everything's cool about it. Except the price. I shelled out 40 odd dollars for it and found that most of the cash went toward the container, which is basically a small, plastic "sand box". I've since purchased extra moon sand at WalMart for around 7-10 dollars, so that means that the container is around 30 bucks. Way too much. But as I said, he loves it.

Moon Sand Destruction . This is a great outside toy, but beware it gets everywhere. I would say it is cool for a little bit, but after the first time of use, it gets harder and harder to clean up and is very messy.

Big Disappointment . My 3 y.o. got this as a present and was so excited. He LOVES construction equipment and diggers. He got so frustrated that the sand will not come out of the digger, which is supposed to mold it into blocks. My husband and I sat there banging it on the table trying to get it out and squeezing the sides of the mold. Eventually we had to dig it out of the mold, which just made it crumble. The only time we can get anything to come out of the mold is if it is so under packed that it will not form a complete block, and then they don't stack. My son was so frustrated and upset he couldn't build anything. I felt so bad. Then to make it worse, I had a huge mess to vacuum up because the container does not contain the sand.

Love it. . My son 3 and a half loves this toy. He gets to play with it by himself on the table when his little brother is napping. There is a bit of clean up, but worth it for a toy he can play with by himself instead of using the computer or video games. (I found this on clearance for $9 so I thought is was well worth that price.)

It's a great "back porch" toy~ my kids really love it. . My children got some of this quite a long time ago and we're just now needing more. It is, in our house, for OUTSIDE play only- but it never dried out, and they loved it. Even when my little on left the container open out in the yard one evening, the next day, a bit of drying in the sun for the dew, and POW, moon sand fun again. It IS messy, and it is a bit expensive, but for all the toys out there that fall apart or just don't do what they say they will, this to me was still worth it. I'm actually here shopping for refills and new molds for them.

Too messy! . If you haven't used Moon Sand yet...here is the short version.

1) It is like sand that sticks together when compressed to make shaped...the end result looks like a playdo shape.
2) The base form is sand...so guess what...clean up is a distaster.

Bottom Line -

My wife and all her mommy friends have sworn off Moon Sand products because they create a huge mess that is not simple to clean up.

Moon Sand Kit . OK, so it's basically a messy version of a play doh kit that gets EVERYWHERE. If you don't mind fine grain particles in every crevace of your house, by all means, buy this. My son loves it but it's a parent's nightmare clean up if you have a "spirited child" who may stray from just using it in the alloted tray it comes with. Get PlayDoh, save the mess and the kid will enjoy it better. Now, for objectivity reasons, my son is only 3 and doesn't understand why it's not cool to build the sand man on the diningroom table placemats.. so that being said, I'm probbaly just biased.

over priced . For the money it really doesn't entertain. Not enough molds and only 2 bags of sand. Not impressed.

its like a beach came into your house lol . I mean its sand. Sure its 'special' sand that never dries out and sticks together but its still sand. It also gets everywhere, no matter how well you try to keep it in the container. I had to vacuum our table, chairs and carpet everytime after the kids were done playing with it. It just got to the point where I thru it out after a month or so. Sure they had a great time with it but it was driving me nuts. Maybe it would make a good outside toy..
Also the sand bags are not reclosable so you have to put them in ziplocks or little tupperware containers.

Poor quality horribly messy . Product is extremely messy, imbedded in shoes and our deck, does not wipe up; think gum. Product is lost when in use, versus lets say a clay product, as it falls onto ground, does not stay intact. Finally, the construction trucks are about as durable as the faux trucks from my sons store bought birthday cake. This product is at the top of my list for poor quality ... I frankly feel ripped off.

Excellent Product Well Made . We loved this product!! I gave it as a gift to my 6-year old niece for Chanukah. She was so excited to open it. The box was shiny and pretty and was very sturdy. All the stickers were laid out neatly according to their numbers and everything was very clear. The jewels were gorgeous, the stickers were strong, and they matched up perfectly with the outline on the box. It took her about a half hour to complete it (she's quick and bright) and the finished product was beautiful. This is something that will sit on her dresser for a number of years, possibly even through her pre-teen/teen years. I personally hate cheap toys, I'm really glad this was not cheap. Only two regrets 1. my 6-year old daughter was very jealous, I should have bought one for her too. 2. I wish I could have spent a little more time with her on it, half an hour sure went by quickly. That said, I'm glad it was something easy to do during a family party, and it wasn't over-involved, messy, or complex. But the best thing is that she loved it!

Beautiful little treasure box . My daughter got this for her 5th birthday and loves it. I was really happy to see that she loved it and worked very diligently on putting all of the gems and stickers on the box. It clearly has some educational value-- with the fine motor and matching skills required to follow the directions. My daughter was super proud of how it turned out (and I was impressed with how it made her work so hard!) It really is beautiful and the perfect little box for a few of her favorite "treasures."

I bought 2 and planning on ordering mor . the consistency is unlike any other craft material and we all love the feel of this product. I am the proud owner of a bee armadillo, space turtle, godzilla and smiling apple sculpture among others and looking forward to the many fun and imaginative creations my son is inspired to bring to life.

Mexican PInch pots with Crayola Modellng Clay . This product took a little longer to dry than advertised. We liked it for the pinch pots, but perhaps need Sharpies to make the designs. Washable markers were not as visible. All and all, I liked the the product and would use it again due to its easy use, as opposed to real clay!

Crayola Model Magic Naturals . Model Magic is good stuff. It is so easy to use and is not as messy as clay. Small pieces dry fairly quickly. I have trouble with very large pieces cracking as they dry. I often use this product in the construction of positioning equipment for very young children with disabilities - it is light weight, can be colorful, and can be molded precisely.

Fun to create cartoon character . This is good for a beginner. It is soft and at the same time doesn't stick to the fingers. Although some package is more damp and does stick a little, it doesn't stick after a little kneading. I love that it can air dry. The texture is spongy and very light. A little too light for me because the figurines I made topple easily. Each piece sticks together easily unless it dries too much. Try to stick them together as soon as possible. If not, might need to use wire. The surface once dried is easy to paint. While it's soft, it is harder to paint because it gets dented easily if using marker.

My only complaint is that this clay is hard to remove the seam and it gets dented easily. Another thing is, it is not good for fine texture. I tried to make duck feather texture but once dried the texture on the surface is almost not visible.

Love these crayons! . These crayons are wonderful. My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves to color. She also likes to color with one crayon for a couple of seconds, set it aside, and pick up another one. Since there are 100 of these crayons, she can do this for a LONG time before she runs out of crayons! There are lots of beautiful colors, too.

Also, since crayons inevitably end up under and/or in furniture, broken, or lost, it's nice to have lots of them--she never misses the ones that are AWOL. Fewer crayons disappear in this set, though, since they're in zippered compartments--much easier to manage than cardboard boxes that get squished and ripped and just aren't as good at keeping crayons inside them.

I really love the portability of this crayon set. It's useful even in the house, but it's really wonderful when we go to restaurants, to relatives' houses, etc. There's no need to pull out a baggie to put crayons in when it's time to leave the house--just pick these up and go!

And, of course, this set also gives small children practice with Velcro and zippers.

Highly recommended!

more than what is described! . This is a great product! I was looking for an affordable flower press to use for homeschooling and when I found this one at such a good price, I thought it would be worth a shot. I have never been disappointed with ALEX quality, so I ordered it. When I opened the box, I was so excited to see that this is a flower press that my kids get to paint themselves! The kit not only includes the parts to make the press, it also includes paint, a paintbrush, and several papers and hemp and wood bead decorations for making crafts with the pressed flowers. There are very clear instructions included. This is a great product for the price and is even more fun because the kids get to decorate it themselves. I give it five stars!

Fun and educational!!! . I had never dried flowers before, I didn't realize it would be this easy. The hardest part is the waiting! My 5 yr old loves to paint and loves flowers. This is the best of both. She got to paint the press and I got dried flowers to use for my scrapbooking!! She has always loved to bring me flowers. We are both really enjoying this new hobby.

Neat gift! . This turned out to be a nice girl's birthday gift. I was looking for a flower press, and this one was geared toward kids and came with accessories, too. Nice product!

More in the box than I ever expected! . Daughter received for 5th birthday. She was thrilled it included nice paints and good brush to decorate the wood flower press with her own style. I didn't realize so much would be included in the box, and it's made so several layers can be pressed and dried at once. This is very nice for the price I see it costs on Amazon. Will be my standard B.day (spring-fall) party gift, especially for girls. (I usually bought wikki stix after school kit for classmates birthdays from Amazon, now I have another option!) Oh, warning...you may even find yourself enjoying this more than your child. :) We kind of did a scavenger hunt to collect nice things to press-was able to open the box and get started, didn't need to gather any additional supplies, no assembly and best of all, a no batteries required!

Neat product . My 8 year old received this gift for Christmas and was excited that SHE got to paint the actual flower press. We pressed poinsetta leaves (because they're so big) and were pleased with the results. The kit comes with art supplies to get you started making your pressed flowers into cards, bookmarks, etc... Very nice kit for the price and a great gift to spark imagination and crafty fun!

Nice Education Toy . Purchased this toy to educate about and stimulate interest in local native flowers. Allows kids and adults to craft nice cards and crafts using dried flowers. Purchase before spring flower blooming. The only downside is the SLOW compression method (long screws and wingnuts). This makes collection slow. Easy to lose wingnuts and screws in the field. Would prefer another compression method, but have not seen any on the market.

Love it! . I wanted a flower press to press a few flowers from my wedding bouquet. I was skeptical ordering a kid's item at first, but it had great reviews. It really is great! It is the perfect size, and all the extras that come with it really are neat. I am very impressed with this, and it is exactly what I wanted. I did have to buy several new screws and wing nuts, though, because they didn't twist very well. Also, mine didn't come with washers, and I thought washers would have been a good idea. Less than $3 more spent at the hardware store, and I have a perfect press. I would definitely recommend.

bought as a gift . I bought this as a gift for my 6 year old niece who loves flowers. I was surprised to see that it is heavier than I thought, though it is in a smaller box it appears to be a well made product. I didn't play with it myself, so I can't review thoroughly but I was happy with the purchase to give as a gift.

Great Paper! . I love this paper for making wrapping paper, using for drawing, stamping and coloring. I make my own paper and journals and this paper is wonderful for using Glittermist, distress inks, copic markers, and colored pencils. It makes a great way to make your own custom papers or place custom papers in your smash books or junk journals.

Alex Paper Roll 12" x 100 (white) . Fits great in my 12" paper roll holder. My grandkids can pull out as much paper as they need off the roller. The paper is great to color, paint or write on. Having the paper readily available tends to let them be more creative. I put the holder with the paper on their play table and pull the paper out about 20" and tape the end with blue painters tape and when they are finished the tape does not stick to their "masterpiece" and they can take it home or hang it on my wall.

GREAT IDEA . What a great idea. Art supplies are fine but the paper is often overlooked. This provides the paper very compactly.

Great project for drawing. . I like the roll of paper, which which unlimited size for my child to paint or draw on. They can make a picture on a typical 8-1/2x11 size or banner size.

Alex 1" paper ream . We have the ALex paper easle that hangs on the wall. This is suppossed to be the replacement paper for it. While it does fit, and works, the quality is nowhere near what the last roll we purchased was. They are using much thinner paper now. It is still ok, but not what I expected at all.

Paper Roll . My daughter loves the paper! She uses on her easel for coloring, markers, paints, stickers- all kinds of fun stuff!

Nice and Sturdy Roll of Paper . No complaints about this roll of paper, works great, is as exactly as advertised. I purchased it to fit on my daughters Disney Fairies Art Desk I bought here on Amazon and it fits great! My daughter likes this roll better b/c it is much thicker than the one that came with the desk so she can use her markers on it w/o having bleed thru on her desk. It is thick but not like cardboard or construction paper. Will definatly purchase again when we have to!

Reminder to read measurements . Paper is good quality, shipped as stated no issues there. I just had a user error, I didn't read the measurements I just figured it was the same paper my daughter's play table had and it was MUCH smaller - oops! SO just a friendly reminder to check the measurements before ordering.

Good paper quality . The paper quality is good, it fits nicely on the easel and was a value for money as compared to some other paper rolls.
