Good accessory . This was one of the accessories I got for my 4 year old neice's aquadoodle, they were the least played with due to the stamper pad had to be really full of water or they had to press down hard for the whole stamp image to appear. Fun toy but the brush and pen accessory were used far more.

Lots of fun :) . This product is exactly what it is advertised to be - a pad of paper where your drawings pop out in 3D when you wear the glasses. The paper glasses are fairly sturdy, the pad of paper is a decent size and number of pages, and it works perfectly. It was an extra gift for my 10 year old for Christmas and it was one of the first things she tore into after all the presents were opened. The adults had a good time with it too. And, it's inexpensive.

FUN! . This is great for kids. It gives them a whole new sense to drawing in 3D. I bought this for my 22yr old boyfriend and he loved it.

Great product! . My three-year old son really loves using these - he consistently chooses them over markers or crayons for his drawing lately. The size and shape make them easy for him to hold, and have the benefit of developing a "correct" hold for penmanship later on. There is a nice range of colors, some quite bold (he is particularly fond of the yellow for this reason) and others more pastel (like the lavendar) that don't show well on white paper, but are nice on dark construction paper. The crayons mark easily - he does not need to apply excessive pressure to get coverage that he is satisfied with. He also really likes opening and closing the drawstring bag they are stored in.

Great for little hands and creative minds! . My 2.5 year old son got these in his stocking this year along with a curious george coloring book. He really loves them. The little "sack" to carry them in is genius! He loves dumping them out, counting them and replacing them in their "hidey bag". They are easy enough to color with though the lines aren't very precise he doesn't mind though. They have quickly become a favorite and I'm planning to buy the stars next probably for easter.

Tiny little crayon stones are treasure for preschoolers! . As other reviewers have mentioned, these are small crayons. The sturdy little storage bag measures about 5 inches long, and the crayons are each about an inch long.

They are not toddler crayons, nor are they cutesy novelty crayons.

Any preschooler will know exactly what to do with these - the smooth, appealing little "rocks" are a perfect fit for a small hand, and make bold, beautiful strokes on paper. From my experience, traditional crayons will sit untouched as the crayon rocks are selected over and over again.

The crayon rocks are durable and don't break or crumble under normal conditions, There are no wrappers or flimsy boxes to mess with, and they last a surprisingly long time. Neat product, and I imagine many children will grow up with fond memories of crayon rocks!

Purchased for 4 yr. old grandaughter . My grandaughter loved the crayons. Easy to hold and did not break like regular crayons.

Gets any kid excited to draw! . I have purchased these for many a relative's kids from 3-7 years of age. When they opened them they seem to gravitate to them and know exactly what to do with them. Very few products are so instinctual. The colors are attractive and they are very hard to break compared to stick crayons. They also don't have paper that gets in the way as with regular crayons. They are long lasting (I gave these to some kids almost 3 years ago and they're still using them!) and don't pick up colors from other pieces even though they share a bag. They have multiple surfaces for drawing lines and shading and they are much easier to draw with, they have a buttery consistent texture- petroleum crayons tend to skip. They are made in the US. They are made with soy as opposed to petroleum. I recently read that products- like petroleum crayons- are labeled non-toxic because chemicals, such as petroleum products, have never been tested and therefore there is no data to prove otherwise! (see "The Artist's Complete Health and Safety Guide", Monona Rossol. Allworth Press, NY, co-published with the American Council for the Arts) As mentioned by others, the bag is genius! For some reason it seems easier for kids of that age to throw them in a bag than a box- and they love the bag. They have been a hit for every kid I've ever bought these for. Others have thanked me when I recommended them for the same reason.

Bought for 7 y/o with non-functioning pencil grip . What you gain in tripod grip function, you lose due to waxy feel. It is very hard to maintain a grip on these because your fingers slide around. My son lost interest quickly because his already weak hand muscles couldn't keep hold of the crayons. Will continue to try, but not sure I like these overall.

Love them . These are a great shape from younger children. My two year old colors much better with crayons with this shape. Some of the colors don't work as well, they come out really light.

Great colors! . I love these for my kids little hands (18 months and 3YO). They are very bright and easy to hold... just keep them away from the family dog... :( I love the pouch, it is great for my kids to put in their backpacks before a trip and much easier than a box that gets bent and beat up. Great buy even if they are a little more expensive then other crayons.

Teaches great fine motor skills to my toddler son . My son is a little behind in fine motor skills so we have been trying things to encourage him to advance while he's still a toddler. These crayon rocks were used by his therapist so I got some. They work really well because they force the child to use their fingertips to color rather than holding a giant crayon in their fist. The rocks are small so he has to grip them using fine motor skills but it's fun at the same time. And, he can't break these things like he has all other crayons. I liked them so much I bought a set for my 3-year-old nephew for his birthday along with a coloring pad.

easy to use good results! . This is a really cool product. I mixed together a few of the colors to make green, purple, and pink, giving me a total of 6 colors to play with. If you add a little water to them, the color won't be quite so intense, and you get much more dye out of the pack. The paint dries super fast and after a quick trip in the dryer, you're all done. it was a very clean, very simple, and very fun project.

you get what you pay for . My lady is doing a little tie dye project for her fellow bridesmaids and asked me to buy her a tie dye kit. i bought this one. it was really easy to use and made far less of a mess than your conventional tie dye kit, but don't even think about being able to use this kit for 15 shirts like it advertises on the package. it could do that if you wanted to use a few squirts per shirt but trust me, if you want the color of the typical tie dye shirt you'll need to use half to a full bottle of this stuff to achieve it. then again, if you only want to do a shirt or two or a pair of socks or something this stuff worked great! harder to get the spiral and other patterns though... since this is a dry kit and those designs work best cause the dye runs with water.

Easiest & neatest set we've used . We've purchased several SEI tie-dye kits since we tried out the first one and fell in love with them. They are so easy to use. There is no mixing involved. You don't need buckets. You simply tie up your shirts and spray them. The pump is similar to a hair spray pump so it may be a little difficult for younger kids. My 5 yo can do it with a little assistance.
The shirts come out great if you wet them before putting on the rubber bands. LET THEM DRY COMPLETELY before removing the rubber bands. Then you simply throw them in the dryer and they are ready to wear. Even after a few washes the colors are still vibrant.
If you are looking for the quickest, easiest and cleanest method of tie dying I highly recommend this product. I'd suggest using rubber gloves and spraying the shirts on a piece of cardboard and letting them dry there (or in a plastic bag). That way there is little to no clean up. You can make a few shirts (and clean up after them) in just a few minutes.

Disappointed . I bought two packs of primary and two packs of girls colors (total of 12 bottles). We did 6 KID SIZE shirts and 6 pillowcases. While the colors did indeed stay very intense, they did not "bleed through" and saturate the shirts and pillowcases, but left only the surface we sprayed full of die. When we cut the bands off, the rest of the shirts were white. Same with the pillowcases. They dried quickly and sure enough, throw them in the dryer and your done, but the fact that we have "half" dyed shirts and pillowcases leaves a lot to be desired. Especially since we should have been able to do a LOT more based on the claims of the makers.

Easy to use wish it comes in more colors. . This is the first time I dye my own garment. I want a pair of canvas shoes in red, yellow, blue and black. But the store only sells the shoes in tan. I read into dying methods, boiling hot water, rubber gloves...those all sound too complicated to me, and I was afraid that I would dye more than just the shoes. Also wasn't shoes if the rubber sole would get dyed as well. Anyway, I went to a craft store and saw the SEI Tie Dye Tumble-Dye. Although the bottles are spray bottles, I read that I could just use them as paint.

So I got them, got home, and use a paint brush to dip into the dye and paint my shoes away. I did the red pair first and the paint was thick enough to cover the original tan color. The yellow came out to be a bit mustard, but I still like them. I ran out of shoes, so I have to get more pairs to do the blue, and I am thinking about purple and black too. Although I don't know how I can do black as I didn't want to mix the dye and it seems that it doesn't come in black dye alone.

Anyway, after I painted the shoes, I let them air dry for a couple of hours, and then I put them in the dryer on high heat for 20 mins as instructed. I like how they come out. I have not wore them in the rain though, so not sure if the color would run. But then who wore canvas shoes in rain, right?

Overall, I give this product a 5 because of the ease of use and the colors are nice.

Cons Review

Total waste of money . Hard to use, spray bottles don't work oh and by the way when you wash your shirt all the die comes out. I bought the kit for a birthday party for my kids and their friends. The spray bottles don't put out when they are pumped. We followed the instructions exactly! When we washed the shirts all the die was gone, 8 white tshirts with touches of color, I have better coloring of shirts when I accidentally washed a chapstick. Just to let you know I am not a rookie at this I am in my forties and have been to 39 G'Dead shows. Waste waste waste of money,box says it does 18 shirts, sure if you put one pump on each shirt, but remember it washes away anyways.

Good Kids Paint - Covers and Washes Out . I bought these for my grandson with no real expectations. I hoped it would cover, not be watery, and would brush out well. The six colors I bought all cover well, clean up easily, stick to the brush and if handled well are cheap. I pour from the large bottles into small containers about the size of an old 35mm film container, and put the cans in holes drilled in a short piece of 2X4. The paint is slow to dry out in these small containers, and if one is spilled, the loss is limited.

Cleans up easily, and washes out of clothes though we use a smock (wahses out of that too).

No idea of the suitability for real posters. This is refrigerator art with a life of a week or so until the next one replaces it.

That's about it, good stuff.

Good paint dries a little dull . Overall, excellent choice for painting indoors!

It comes in a very sturdy, convenient package, easy to add small amounts to refilling the paint cups, and seals nicely to keep the remaining paint fresh.

It washes off extremely easily -- from the floor, clothes, and hands.

It is very pretty going onto the paper wet, and mixes nice with other colors ... yet it becomes rather faded and dull when it dries. That is a minor complaint, but otherwise, a very good product worth trying for yourself.

Poster paint that's actually usable . Why is it so hard to find anything like this locally? It's a reasonable size container of excellent quality poster paint, in the color I want, at a decent price. I could not find anything like it in local craft and art stores. All they had was "sets" of thimble size containers (try painting an actual poster with one of those) at unreasonable prices. I wasn't buying this as a toy, I was making actual posters, so your mileage may vary.

My niece loves these paints . My 4 year old niece loves these paints. I purchased several colors. My sister-in-law said they are very washable which was definately a plus since my niece is know for paint/coloring everything but paper!

NOT WASHABLE . The paint lasts a while and would otherwise be great to use except for the fact that it is NOT washable. It's hard to get off skin and it doesn't come out of clothes. I am going to try another brand to hopefully find some paint that is truly washable. My daughter wears an art apron or smock, but it often gets on her skin (or even hair, which it then dyes!!) and may accidentally get on her clothes.. to which it does not come out. :(

Paint OK but a very purple blue . This paint is fine - covers well and seems washable enough but I was disapointed with the color. It's a very purplish blue, not a royal blue like I was hoping for.

Not Washable! . I have tried everything and this paint continues to ruin clothes. Yes I should have learned by now but it says washable from most clothes and i haven't found anything this applies to. I've ordered the crayola paint because I've always had good luck with their stuff actually being washable. Be careful with this product

Save your money! . I thought these would be all stickers of princess characters and something to occupy my daughter's time in the car or at church. I did not know that most of them are small and "good job" or "wow" stickers. At least I didn't pay too much, but I could have found something better with my $5.00.
So save your money.

Princess Love . My daughter is into the whole princess thing (don't even know when she picked it up). She also loves stickers - thus the reason I bought these!

There are a few sheets of each type. Several of them are super small round stickers (somewhat useless when a 2 year old is trying to put them on your shirt). I wish all the stickers were slightly larger. I also wish they were slightly more sticky. Not the cheapest stickers I've ever purchased, but close.

Cute . I got these for my daughter to entertain her on a long car ride. She ended up peeling the stickers off and sticking them all over her body, it was so cute. There are a loooot of stickers on each page. They are either round (like the size of a dime) or square (the size of a stamp). They stick pretty well (she had them on the rest of the day)

Dim sum yum! . Well, obviously, these erasers are not edible, but they sure look yummy! My daughter and I collect novelty erasers (something which I've been doing since my childhood and am now sharing with my kindergartner). We own many of the Iwako novelty erasers sets. They are one of the best makers of novelty erasers - the details are amazing compared to the other brands. They may be more expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. We get ours from a neighborhood Japanese grocery store. These erasers are modeled on the Chinese dim sum delicacies - 2 baskets of dim sum, a plate of dumplings, a plate of fried rice, 2 bowls of noodles, and 4 chopstick sets. Like all other Iwako erasers, the pieces can be taken apart and put together again, which keeps my child entertained. They are small enough that they can also be used in creative play, in dollhouses, etc.

Great first experience for knitting . I bought this for my 6 year old daughter and it was a good way for her to learn how to knit. The very chunky pink yarn and the huge needles were perfectly sized for little hands. I must say that our success with this product was due in large part to the youtube video from AlexToys explaining visually how to cast on and knit. The video was excellent and my daughter knitted her scarf in no time. (I also learned how to knit from the video!) Her friends are now interested in making the same scarf. If you have a son who doesn't like the bright pink color, you can always buy any super bulky yarn and very large needles and then just watch the video.

kit is great but product colors sent not as advertised by amazon . kit was advertised as multi color yarn( blues, reds, yellows etc) . I ordered it for my 6 year old son. the kit came with pink yarn. I was not happy about this, as he wants to learn to knit and I know he would prefer a mulit color hat and scarf vs. a hot pink one.

Beginner's knitting kit . We found a Youtube video explaining how to knit from Alex company. It was helpful --but also found other online videos to help too.

Great gift . I am giving this to my granddaughter for Christmas, she is interested in knitting as she watches me knitting all the time.

good way to learn the basics . Easy to follow steps in the instruction. My daughter loved the scarf she made. The only suggestion I have is to make the needles just a bit smaller. Good value for the price.

Difficult to use . I don't knit and that this would be an easy activity for my 9 year old and me. We never got past "casting on" and the sticks were actually too big. The yarn slipped off too easily.

Good buy for the price. . Good buy for the price.

It does what it says - glows under a blacklight. This was my first time using a product like this. I found it was a bit awkward to apply though. After trying several different types of brushes I ended up using a piece of foam rubber packing material (of all things) to apply the paint. Even then it was difficult to get a nice consistent coat. Getting a thick, even coat is especially important with this paint as if affects the luminescence properties; the thicker the coat the stronger the glow. An uneven coat shows up markedly under a blacklight. I can't help but think this paint would apply better using an airbrush or paint sprayer.

I suggest applying the paint with a blacklight on so you can tell where the thin spots are (and where you've dripped paint). You will probably end up using two coats or more if you want a real bright glow. I also suggest giving the paint at least a day to dry as it remains tacky for quite a while.

I wish this paint came with SOME kind of instructions or tips for using it, the label doesn't tell you much of anything.

Overall it is a good product and would buy more if I needed it.

Decent Product . I used this paint to decorate for a Halloween party. It has a nice consistency and dried evenly, even when applied to glass. Clean up was easy - warm water did the job just fine. The paint did not glow as vividly as I was expecting, but I think that problem could have been solved by buying a few additional black-lights. I only wish the paint came in smaller bottles; it goes a long way, and I have a ton left over.

I did not receive the art supplies, christmas has come and gone. Baby Age say they sent it, but i have not received it. Great item....when I finally received all the pieces..rude customer representative soured the deal... . I have purchased many Melissa & Doug products for my grandchildren. This year, I ordered 2 of these easels: one shipped directly to an out-of-state granddaughter; the second for another granddaughter who would be at my house Christmas Day.

Grandpa and I began assembling the big "Santa-type" gifts Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm. We had completed 2 race track-train sets and table and chairs when Grandpa opened the easel box. We found no "hardware" and no clips in the box-this meant there would be "no assembly" tonight. Five grandchildren were expected Christmas morning and ALL five were to have a big gift under the tree!

I placed a call to the number at Melissa & Doug and left a message about the incomplete merchandise and my disappointment. Now I needed to find a store open to purchase a different "big" present for my granddaughter.

Granted, I should not have waited until the 11th hour to open and assemble. My past purchase history with Melissa & Doug have been flawless: their merchadise superior. I never expected anything less.

Christmas morning things were fine. "Santa" left a note on the unassembled box that an elf left the nuts and bolts and they would be mailed in 2 weeks. This was satisfactory to her.

Telephone communication began, and on Thursday January 10th, the package arrived. I opened it immediately and ALL the bolts, washers and screws were accounted for but not the "4 colorful clips". I called the Melissa & Doug store. I was not happy that the toy was still incomplete. The representative stated that the clips would be sent out. I remarked that my granddaughter would have to wait another 2 weeks for this Christmas gift and would I be compensated (I was thinking they could at least send an extra roll of paper for our trouble). I was told that "oh she can use it without the clips" and that it wasn't the fault of Melissa & Doug, but the vendor. She became very rude when I stated that the fault is with whomever forgot to pack the box with ALL parts.

This was the wrong attitude to take with a customer. I bought a new, deluxe set (not second-hand or as is) and I paid retail (not reduced, discount or clearance price). I paid, and I expect to get what I paid for when I receive the merchandise -not piece by piece, week by week. THIS WAS AN INCONVENIENCE-having to run around to buy a replacement gift on Christmas Eve, to make an excuse as to why the easel was not ready for her to take home, multiple phone calls had to be made and now I was told I had to wait again!

One mistake, I can overlook...but the second mistake accompanied with rudeness from the Melissa & Doug representative means it will be a cold day at the equator before I buy a product from this company again.

Will update again when package received and easel put together**I love Melissa and Doug products and have been eying the deluxe standing easel for some time. It being Christmas, we decided it was time to save up and buy them this set along with the companion supply bundle set.Initially we were going to build and set it up for them to see on Christmas day, but decided to wrap it instead. Today the children asked to paint so I decided to put it together.The first thing to note is that the product was shipped it its own box without any exterior packaging. This concerned me a little but the box itself looked undamaged when we received it so I still had high hopes. Then I made the mistake of starting to actually put the pieces together and here is what I saw...1. The first thing I noticed was that one of the brackets on the upper legs was bent. While slightly disappointed, because who wants damaged goods when they pay good money, but it was still usable, so I continued to put on the lower legs which leads to issue two.
2. One of the legs does not match the rest of the legs. In fact it looks like a replacement part. The wood is not smooth (bumpy and rough), it is not the same color as the other pieces, and has a different grain. I even wonder if it is the same type of wood, but I am not a wood expert so that I am not sure of.
3. Then it was time to put on the leg braces. The first brace was fine. The second was a repaired piece. You can see where it was damaged, fixed, and repainted. If I wanted to order a used easel I would have purchased this from craigslist. But this isn't even the worse part.
4. The easel, though now obviously not a brand new product, was still usable, so I was going to dismiss it all just to make the kids happy, but when I removed the chalk board and the dry erase board from the box, both had one corner broken off. Broken off enough that there was no longer a hole to screw in the screw.Now the easel is just taking up space in my living room, as it is unusable. I have two young children who are extremely disappointed, and I am a bit upset myself. I paid good money for this product. It seems pointless to mail the product back as there are so many damaged pieces (don't want some other unlucky person to get "repaired" or unsightly "replacement" pieces, but I am not even sure I want a replacement. I might as well get a refund and buy something locally.I am not sure if this was an error on the part of Melissa and Doug, or if the shipper made a poor judgement call and added non-original/repaired parts. All I know is this is not acceptable.To be fair, the product itself, if nothing was damaged or it had its original parts, would have been a solid piece along with easy directions. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth, but I have emailed the shipper and am hoping they will either fully refund me or send me an entirely new set with "original" and not "like new" pieces. I will update this review once I have some feedback from the seller. I can say that the last time I emailed them (when I first received the package) about my concern of the missing companion set, they emailed be back the same day to inform me they were in the box so I am hopeful they will respond to my email quickly.

easel well worth the money!!! . My husband and I bought this easel for our 5yr old daughter for Christmas. We are very pleased with how durable it is made, and the trays on both sides make it very easy for her to use paints or crayons. It also has clips which hold the paper in place, they thought of everything!!!!! Did I mention the paint containers are SPILL PROOF!!!!! She loves this and was painting into the night on Christmas night. The easel and bundle pack are worth every penny and we will get many years of enjoyment from it!!!!

Awesome Christmas present . I love this easel! Not only is built well, it comes with everything you need. The paint cups are designed so there is no spillage. The chalkboard is great and the dry erase board is fun too. My son loves to draw pictures for us and act like a teacher and conduct his class from his board. I ended up buying extra markers for different colors, the easel comes with only a blue one. Great gift, highly recommended!

Cute Stamps but Messy Ink Pad! . We use these stamps for corrected school work. My children really love the different animal stamps with their cute sayings like "Fintastic", "Bow Wow!", "Good Try", "Hoo-Ray!". I think all of the stamps are really cute although I would prefer that they didn't have the cat stamp that says "Purrfect" when you are trying to have them focus on doing their best, not being perfect. The stamps are cute and fun but the stamp pad that comes with it is extremely messy. Any time you press down on the pad red ink comes out everywhere (dripping down the sides of the stamp). There seems to be too much ink for the pad. And so, not wanting to use the ink pad leaves you with just the stamps which really doesn't justify the price. I think you could buy the stamps and a good ink pad for less or around the same price. If you are unable to find motivational stamps such as these then you may consider purchasing this item and buying a seperate ink pad.

Rich easy-to-use color . I bought these on the recommendation of a friend, for my 18 month old daughter. She has been disinterested in regular crayons because she has trouble pressing hard enough to make a bright, strong mark - and these are perfect for solving that problem. The consistency is similar to pastels. She doesn't need much pressure at all to make richly colored artwork, and she's really enjoying that.

Obviously this product is intended for older children, so be aware that toddlers will need help with the caps, the "twist", and that these are much messier than normal crayons. They are not as washable either. If all that is okay with you (and it is for me - we just cover her up, roll up her sleeves, and put down plenty of paper), they may be great for your toddler as well. That said, I think these are really great for older children and a nice change of pace from crayons or markers.

GREAT crayons but with minimal supervision is required . I have used this product with a 3 yr old girl and we both love it.

Pros: The texture is super smooth. It glides over any paper or cardboard surface with no effort what so ever. The colors are vibrant and creamy and the trace very thick and dense. It is too thick to draw with it, but great for coloring. You can cover a lot of ground with very little effort, specially because you don't have to recolor the same spot twice. The thickness of the pen makes it very easy to manipulate for a toddler. I like the twist off feature (longer durability, easier storage, no need to sharpen). The seal of the cups and the crayon is perfectly calibrated: tight enough that my one year old cannot remove them but easy enough for the 3 year old.

Cons: All the cons probably related to the age of the user. My toddler presses too hard on the paper and there is some minimal crumbing at the tip. Even when used correctly the color takes one minute to settle, so expect a certain amount of it to transfer to skin and cloths, specially sleeves. She constantly drops the crayon open in the floor which results in color transfer. It washes off extremely easy with plain water or a wet wipe from skin, and clothes - still you probably don't want to use the crayons near a clear toned carpet.

In summary, this is not a product for a toddler to use unattended, but with minimal supervision is tons of fun. Highly recommended

Want my $ back! . Not happy with the quality of the Crayola Slick Stix. I bought 2 sets of them and both packages had several broken stix that end up being useless. The white one in both packages were gooey, all cracked and broken. The white one is the whole reason I bought this product. We needed the white stix for a special project and we totally wasted our money ----- very disappointed in this product. Too much plastic in the packaging, the caps are hard to remove, they smear all over the kids hands and sleeves ----- thank goodness, they wash off and hopefully wash out of clothes.

We love these creative crayons! . We LOVE these crayons! I don't think they are the best for little children, but all the older children and adults in our household love them. They are really, as the name implies, Slick! They glide super easy with Intense color; awesome for making posters! One of my adult daughters is buying some now for when her baby gets older, just in case they quit making them. I can hardly find them at stores anymore, so I am very careful with the ones that I already have.

Wonderful for recoloritz and windows/mirrors as well . These are wonderful. I first got the crayons that write on windows, then got Re-Coloritz and these are the same crayons that are used in those products. I got this set to give my 3-5 year olds more colors for their Toy Story Re-Coloritz. It's too bad they don't sell Re-Coloritz anymore because now that I have this set, it makes me want to color them even more! (More color varity!) I highly recommend them for any age over 3!

Amazing! . When they say slick, they mean it. These are the smoothest "crayons" I have ever used. My kids love them. My only concern is that since they go on so easily, they seem like they won't last very long.

My 4-year-old granddaughter would not put them down! . I took these for a weekend visit with my granddaughter, and she loved them. She could take the caps off and put them back. Twisting the color up was easy for her. We did put a plastic sheet on the table top, since she was so excitedly drawing that she went over the edge of her "papers" a few times.

Highly recommended.

These things SUCK!!!! . Don't buy these unless you want to scrub or replace your carpets. "Minimal supervision", yeah right, more like "lay down a tarp". Within seconds my little one had multiple stains in the carpet. Some of them came out after vigorous scrubbing and some professional grade carpet cleaners. Like stated above, these are like lipstick, only in different colors. Bottom line is that these might be okay if you have a teenager, but for anyone below 12 or so, these are asking for a stain on the carpet. Stick to actual crayons or something like the markers that require the special paper.

This Product Stained our Playroom Carpet! . These crayons are very cool. They are like super slick pastels. The children enjoy using them at the easel and they are less of a mess than paints. The colors are bright and fun too. My only complaint is that the red slick stix stained our new berber carpet. I have tried everything to remove it to no avail. I thought crayola made products that were washable. Beware that this is NOT washable..

Thumbler's Tumbler MP-1 . I bought this tumbler for my grandson for Christmas. I was told that Thumbler's Tumbler was a good brand and was willing to pay a little more for something more durable. I was quite disappointed when he opened it. He was pleased with it, but I am not sure that it is any better than the $39 toy tumblers. It is mostly plastic and the drum is quite small. It was advertised as having a list price of $279..I would say that the $74.99 I paid was to much.

The only assembly required is to mount the drum and the belt. However, I wouldn't necessarily consider this assembly, as this action is required every time items are removed or added to the drum.

As for the kit contents, it comes with everything you'll need to get started. The directions are easily understood, and the kit components are separated and clearly marked.

As for performance, the unit is, as expected, noisy. As others have suggested, you'll want to run this in your garage or workshop, especially since the unit is to be run continuously. For this type of entry-level kit, the durability is what you'd expect. Since I purchased this for a nine year old, I don't expect this hobby to be anything more than a fascination. As such, in my opinion, this is the perfect, middle ground kit for his needs. The kit is reasonably priced, but not too "kid-like".

Thumbler's Tumbler MP-1 Rock Tumbler (Purchased on 08/19/2011) . I was really looking forward to polishing rocks with my daughter but we set it up per the instructions, plugged it in and within 2 hours it had overheated and shut off. Now I have a 65 dollar piece of junk.

Ok but not durable . Really needs a new motor. This thing gets hot to the touch and sounds like it will only last another week or so (and its only 2 weeks old).

Not a toy. It's a "real" tumbler. . Our 6 year old grandson is fascinated with rocks, so we thought this would be a great birthday gift. It actually replaced a cheaper model, which cost about $10 less, which we returned after it stopped working. This model is light years ahead of the toy rock tumblers. My grandson and his dad are having a great time tumbling their rock finds. You will need to buy extra grit for polishing. Rough rocks are readily available online. A great, educational gift which should last for years.

Make sure your child wants/understands this . Brought this for grandson @ age 6, he was not ready for the waiting involved for the rocks to tumble into polished stone. Grandpa loved it, but he set it up on the shelf for a few years till grandson is older.

A toy? . Lots of older person's polish rocks and don't think their hobby falls into the "toy" category. Regardless, the rock polisher worked fine.

Cons Review

Great tumbler I loved it . Just finished making my first run in it, had a great time. Produce some really nice looking rocks.

No problems running it at all. The rubber barrel makes it repetitively quiet (run it in a closet and barely hear any noise (bit like rain).

My seven year old lost interest pretty quickly (though enjoys sorting through stones and picking some finish ones for jewelery.)
But I'm loving it.

Went to ebay and bought grits for a 12# tumbler for just over $20 delivered (he through in a couple of pounds of rock as well free), so I have grits for another 6 runs...Plenty of rocks at good prices at Ebay as well (group your purchases to save on shipping as its a killer when buying a couple of pounds of rocks). My local beach has lots of quarts pebbles so no shortage of matterial for me.

Great price great deal...would recommend it over the toy little plastic barreled ones (since it only costs about $10 more) .
