Good Kids Paint - Covers and Washes Out . I bought these for my grandson with no real expectations. I hoped it would cover, not be watery, and would brush out well. The six colors I bought all cover well, clean up easily, stick to the brush and if handled well are cheap. I pour from the large bottles into small containers about the size of an old 35mm film container, and put the cans in holes drilled in a short piece of 2X4. The paint is slow to dry out in these small containers, and if one is spilled, the loss is limited.

Cleans up easily, and washes out of clothes though we use a smock (wahses out of that too).

No idea of the suitability for real posters. This is refrigerator art with a life of a week or so until the next one replaces it.

That's about it, good stuff.

Good paint dries a little dull . Overall, excellent choice for painting indoors!

It comes in a very sturdy, convenient package, easy to add small amounts to refilling the paint cups, and seals nicely to keep the remaining paint fresh.

It washes off extremely easily -- from the floor, clothes, and hands.

It is very pretty going onto the paper wet, and mixes nice with other colors ... yet it becomes rather faded and dull when it dries. That is a minor complaint, but otherwise, a very good product worth trying for yourself.

Poster paint that's actually usable . Why is it so hard to find anything like this locally? It's a reasonable size container of excellent quality poster paint, in the color I want, at a decent price. I could not find anything like it in local craft and art stores. All they had was "sets" of thimble size containers (try painting an actual poster with one of those) at unreasonable prices. I wasn't buying this as a toy, I was making actual posters, so your mileage may vary.

My niece loves these paints . My 4 year old niece loves these paints. I purchased several colors. My sister-in-law said they are very washable which was definately a plus since my niece is know for paint/coloring everything but paper!

NOT WASHABLE . The paint lasts a while and would otherwise be great to use except for the fact that it is NOT washable. It's hard to get off skin and it doesn't come out of clothes. I am going to try another brand to hopefully find some paint that is truly washable. My daughter wears an art apron or smock, but it often gets on her skin (or even hair, which it then dyes!!) and may accidentally get on her clothes.. to which it does not come out. :(

Melissa and Doug Poster Paint . I bought this poster paint as a refill for my daughter's paint set and I am happy with the purchase. The paint is of the right consistency and stays on the brush until applied to the paper. I will keep the supply of the paint for my child's art center.

Great color! . Bought this to add extra dimension to my 3 year olds art work. she loves having the purple paint in her repertoire!

Paint OK but a very purple blue . This paint is fine - covers well and seems washable enough but I was disapointed with the color. It's a very purplish blue, not a royal blue like I was hoping for.

Not Washable! . I have tried everything and this paint continues to ruin clothes. Yes I should have learned by now but it says washable from most clothes and i haven't found anything this applies to. I've ordered the crayola paint because I've always had good luck with their stuff actually being washable. Be careful with this product

easel is good but ... . the easel is fine, the kids love the marker board. BUT, i ordered the package including the paints and the containers and all the art supplies along with it. I did not receive the art supplies, christmas has come and gone. Baby Age say they sent it, but i have not received it. I'm still trying to get this figured out on the phone, which we all know takes forever. And who has spare time to wait on the phone? Great item....when I finally received all the pieces..rude customer representative soured the deal... . I have purchased many Melissa & Doug products for my grandchildren. This year, I ordered 2 of these easels: one shipped directly to an out-of-state granddaughter; the second for another granddaughter who would be at my house Christmas Day.

Grandpa and I began assembling the big "Santa-type" gifts Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm. We had completed 2 race track-train sets and table and chairs when Grandpa opened the easel box. We found no "hardware" and no clips in the box-this meant there would be "no assembly" tonight. Five grandchildren were expected Christmas morning and ALL five were to have a big gift under the tree!

I placed a call to the number at Melissa & Doug and left a message about the incomplete merchandise and my disappointment. Now I needed to find a store open to purchase a different "big" present for my granddaughter.

Granted, I should not have waited until the 11th hour to open and assemble. My past purchase history with Melissa & Doug have been flawless: their merchadise superior. I never expected anything less.

Christmas morning things were fine. "Santa" left a note on the unassembled box that an elf left the nuts and bolts and they would be mailed in 2 weeks. This was satisfactory to her.

Telephone communication began, and on Thursday January 10th, the package arrived. I opened it immediately and ALL the bolts, washers and screws were accounted for but not the "4 colorful clips". I called the Melissa & Doug store. I was not happy that the toy was still incomplete. The representative stated that the clips would be sent out. I remarked that my granddaughter would have to wait another 2 weeks for this Christmas gift and would I be compensated (I was thinking they could at least send an extra roll of paper for our trouble). I was told that "oh she can use it without the clips" and that it wasn't the fault of Melissa & Doug, but the vendor. She became very rude when I stated that the fault is with whomever forgot to pack the box with ALL parts.

This was the wrong attitude to take with a customer. I bought a new, deluxe set (not second-hand or as is) and I paid retail (not reduced, discount or clearance price). I paid, and I expect to get what I paid for when I receive the merchandise -not piece by piece, week by week. THIS WAS AN INCONVENIENCE-having to run around to buy a replacement gift on Christmas Eve, to make an excuse as to why the easel was not ready for her to take home, multiple phone calls had to be made and now I was told I had to wait again!

One mistake, I can overlook...but the second mistake accompanied with rudeness from the Melissa & Doug representative means it will be a cold day at the equator before I buy a product from this company again.

Would love to rate the toy but damaged . **update 2: I still have not received the replacement easel shipped directly from Mellisa and Doug. Nor has the shipper responded to my recent emails. I had high hopes based on their quick response the first two times, but with no product and no response I am starting to lose my patients and would prefer a full refund so I can buy my kids a replacement VERY BELATED Christmas gift.****update:the shipper has already been back in touch with me and sending replacement directly from mellisa and doug. Will update again when package received and easel put together**I love Melissa and Doug products and have been eying the deluxe standing easel for some time. It being Christmas, we decided it was time to save up and buy them this set along with the companion supply bundle set.Initially we were going to build and set it up for them to see on Christmas day, but decided to wrap it instead. Today the children asked to paint so I decided to put it together.The first thing to note is that the product was shipped it its own box without any exterior packaging. This concerned me a little but the box itself looked undamaged when we received it so I still had high hopes. Then I made the mistake of starting to actually put the pieces together and here is what I saw...1. The first thing I noticed was that one of the brackets on the upper legs was bent. While slightly disappointed, because who wants damaged goods when they pay good money, but it was still usable, so I continued to put on the lower legs which leads to issue two.
2. One of the legs does not match the rest of the legs. In fact it looks like a replacement part. The wood is not smooth (bumpy and rough), it is not the same color as the other pieces, and has a different grain. I even wonder if it is the same type of wood, but I am not a wood expert so that I am not sure of.
3. Then it was time to put on the leg braces. The first brace was fine. The second was a repaired piece. You can see where it was damaged, fixed, and repainted. If I wanted to order a used easel I would have purchased this from craigslist. But this isn't even the worse part.
4. The easel, though now obviously not a brand new product, was still usable, so I was going to dismiss it all just to make the kids happy, but when I removed the chalk board and the dry erase board from the box, both had one corner broken off. Broken off enough that there was no longer a hole to screw in the screw.Now the easel is just taking up space in my living room, as it is unusable. I have two young children who are extremely disappointed, and I am a bit upset myself. I paid good money for this product. It seems pointless to mail the product back as there are so many damaged pieces (don't want some other unlucky person to get "repaired" or unsightly "replacement" pieces, but I am not even sure I want a replacement. I might as well get a refund and buy something locally.I am not sure if this was an error on the part of Melissa and Doug, or if the shipper made a poor judgement call and added non-original/repaired parts. All I know is this is not acceptable.To be fair, the product itself, if nothing was damaged or it had its original parts, would have been a solid piece along with easy directions. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth, but I have emailed the shipper and am hoping they will either fully refund me or send me an entirely new set with "original" and not "like new" pieces. I will update this review once I have some feedback from the seller. I can say that the last time I emailed them (when I first received the package) about my concern of the missing companion set, they emailed be back the same day to inform me they were in the box so I am hopeful they will respond to my email quickly.

easel well worth the money!!! . My husband and I bought this easel for our 5yr old daughter for Christmas. We are very pleased with how durable it is made, and the trays on both sides make it very easy for her to use paints or crayons. It also has clips which hold the paper in place, they thought of everything!!!!! Did I mention the paint containers are SPILL PROOF!!!!! She loves this and was painting into the night on Christmas night. The easel and bundle pack are worth every penny and we will get many years of enjoyment from it!!!!

LOVE IT . Great toy - have been using for years - can unscrew and slide it into toy closet - then get it out when kids want to paint, color, etc! The additional paint and chalk is awesome - Santa Clause scored big with this gift!

Awesome Christmas present . I love this easel! Not only is built well, it comes with everything you need. The paint cups are designed so there is no spillage. The chalkboard is great and the dry erase board is fun too. My son loves to draw pictures for us and act like a teacher and conduct his class from his board. I ended up buying extra markers for different colors, the easel comes with only a blue one. Great gift, highly recommended!

Great craft for little girls! . I purchased 1 for my 3 year old and 1 for my 5 year old niece. The case isn't huge, roughly 6" by 6". Don't let that stop you from buying it though! It's a fun activity for girls!

Poor storage cute idea . I bought this for my 4 year old's birthday, and it looked so cute online, but in person it is teeny tiny. The carrying case is useless, once it's opened. It's nearly impossible to store the beads in it after it's opened. The beads are very pretty, but unless you are planning to store them elsewhere, don't expect to store them in the carrying case.

My granddaughter liked it. . My 4 yr old granddaughter liked this set. It is well organized and not too difficult to handle. There is a good selection of different beads.

Too small . Bought this toy for my neices and was dissapointed when it came in the mail. Its so much smaller than I imagined it would be. I ended up going and buying another set at the store to compensate for it.

Polished Beads . I just want to let people know that this has been great for my 3 yr. old girl. It really helps with eye-hand coordination. I bought the other bead seat with 500 pieces but it was to hard (small) for her. These beads are so girly-girl and great for keeping them busy!

Nice just small . I bought these beads for my niece, and she loves them. The only problem is that the case of them is far smaller than I expected. Still a great toy.

Disappointing... . ..my granddaughter was bored before she even opened the set. I suppose she'll get to it one day, when she runs out of other things to do. Skip the broken crayons & wrapper scraps buy these first! . These Melissa & Doug crayons are the only ones we buy! There are at least 3 different color packs, so you have plenty of colors to choose from. No rolling away, no broken pieces, no wrapper scraps and we rarely find bite marks on them... We've tried the other brands and always end up disappointed. It's hit or miss finding these in retail stores, so I usually buy from Amazon.

Very nice crayon strong but not washable . The best part about this crayons, they are super strong. My son throw them on the floor, drop them from a table, etc.etc. By far none of them has broken yet. And the colors from these crayons are a lot brighter and prettier than cayonla brand.

However, this crayons are not washable, at least not to an regular damp clothes wipe. It would be nice if they are, but still these are very very good quality crayons. Love them!!!

Color can barely be seen . We have the regular Melissa and Doug crayons and the regular colors 12 pack of the jumbo crayons, both of which are a solid 4 star to me (missing five star because they just don't have that creamy writing feel of the crayola crayons; though they also don't have the smell....).Anyway.The flourescent crayons are a complete waste of money and a source of frustration to both my 2.5 year old, who had picked them out because there were two "pinks"; AND my almost five year old. Even I struggle to get the color to really show up. You can imagine how frustrating that is to kids. Even the darker orange can barely be seen; ditto the green. The blue and darker magenta are okay (saving the collection from a single star).In addition, while these crayons are certainly stronger than the triangular Crayola "equivalent" when dropped on the floor, they're still very easy to break. They're crayons, after all, not markers! In short, I would never buy these for a friends, let alone my own children again.

Fluorescent Crayons Should Glow Under A Black Light . Do not purchase these crayons if you are interested in looking at the finished work in a black light. 4 out of 10 of these crayons are not fluorescent. I bought 6 sets of these crayons for a special art project, and expected all the colors to glow when under a black light. The first crayon on left(yellow) and crayons 6-8(green,blue,violet) do not glow.

There was no picture....so it was a risk! . OK, when I ordered, I really had no idea what I was going to get since there was not a picture. This is what you get - three circle stamp pads about 3-4 inches in diameter, one red, one blue, and one green, all in one long carton. The stamp pads each have their own lids so, once the single package is opened (containing all three), three different kids can each pick their own color and then switch colors. This is unlike the other MD stamp pads - those usually have six colors on one pallet. This is actually three individual stamp pads (of rather large size) in one package. I was very pleased and felt it was worth the money considering I have not seen stamp pads for this price where you have this type of color selection. I wish there was a picture, but hope my description helped someone. If you have ever bought those Keebler individual graham crusts where there are three in the one package, that is the set up and roughly the size, only a bit bigger. Again, hope this helps!

Ink not washable! . The ink was not washable for us. The ink got on the walls and while I washed it off within seconds, the ink could not be removed and now we will be repainting the wall.

stamp time . I was really excited to get these ink pads for my children... and so were they... we played once and it was just a complete mess... and the ink smeared like crazy... we played it once and never got them out again...altho I will say it washed off well.

Ink Not Very Washable Compared to Other Brands . My 3 yr. old daugther received this as a present recently. We were quite excited to use them with our rubber stamps and just for finger art, as well. After my daughter used these with several stamps we went to wipe off the ink on each stamp, so we could change ink color. Well, surprise surprise . . .the ink stained the rubber stamp and won't come off. We have other washable ink pads (Craft Smart) and the ink from their pads doesn't remain on the rubber stamps. Not surprisingly when I then went to wipe it off of her nice wooden table, I had to use a scouring pad to "scratch" it off. Compared with other ink pads, I think this one is a big-time fail. If it didn't adverstise itself as "washable" I would say it's great. A bigger size than some, so easier to do handprint artwork and such. Would NOT buy again and will probably be getting rid of these b/c of the risk of staining.

Great idea . I am a nanny and have used this for lots of different crafts and LOVE IT. It's very washable and the colors look great. They mix Super eAsy though and that's the only concern I have. OverLl a GREAT product and comes in handy a lot

Essential for teachers . I recently bought this for my class and I use it many times throughout the day. It seems to last much longer than the common washable red ink you can find in teacher stores. Plus the pad is big so its just easier to use. Each ink pad is individually wrapped so you can open one and the others won't dry out.

Great product . This is a great product. My 3 year old loves to stamp and I love that it's non-toxic and washable!! Larger than I thought which was a bonus. A must buy.

Easy to clean and fun for all . We got these for our then almost 2 year old son to go along with his easel at Christmas. He loves them and they are in the excellent condition after over 6 months of use. We did buy him thinner brushes a couple months ago as he expressed that he wanted to be able to draw more detail. These are great for larger areas but too big if they want to draw faces, etc unless they are very skilled (i.e. I can do it but no way a preschooler could).

Brush Bristles in the paint . I'm going to be extra picky about this product because I'm an Art Teacher as well as a mom. I truly believe that kiddos deserve to use quality art supplies, no matter what age. These brushes are fine for toddlers, but be warned that the natural bristles do fall out often and get stuck to the paint/paper. I LOVE Melissa and Doug brand products, but if you're looking for brushes to go with their paint cups, my advice is to splurge a wee bit on some slightly softer, synthetic bristle brushes from another company.

Much bette than wood handles . After having the paint chip of off the wooden handled paint brushes, I finally came across these. Much better product, great for kids. Have held up well so far (over a year).

a good brush . These are not the quality I am used to having worked at day care centers. They are good brushes but a little rough and straggly. I was expecting institutional quality I suppose, but they are fine for my 2 year old.

Hours of Fun . I haven't used many paint brushes, but these are great for my kids. They are 3 and 18 months, so we aren't doing very detailed work. But they love trying all the colors and mixing them all up. And these paintbrushes clean up great for more hours of fun the next time!

My son LOVES to paint & these fit his chubby fingers perfectly! . This paint brush set is ideal for little ones just learning to paint. They are large enough for easy handling and very easy to clean if you use water based finger paints. Their bright colorful handles help reinforce the learning of colors, especially when you match the paint brush handle with the appropriate color paint. We use them with the matching Melissa & Doug's no-spill paint cups (with lids). We're big Melissa & Doug fans in our house!

Nice item . Melissa & Doug items are always great. I got these along with the paint cups, a paint tray and paints and my son and I enjoy free form art creation. Just the right size for little hands.

Cons Review

I wouldn't buy these again . I got these for my daughter because the handles were bigger. I am not impressed with anything except the handle size. The bristles fall out constantly and don't hold the paint all that well.

Finger Paint Brushes . My 4-year-old granddaughter decided she did not like getting her fingers dirty with her finger paints...go figure. So I chose these brushes because of price and the company's reputation for quality. She liked them, I liked them, and they seem quite durable. The handles are color coded so the user can avoid mixing colors on one brush. Truth is, a 4-year-olds will mix or not as they please. But as an adult, I found the color coding a nice touch.

Really like it . I really like the look of this little suitcase. My 10 month old really likes climbing on it and it can fit A LOT of his clothes. I also like that you can lock it so it doesn't come open. The only problem I've had is that one of the latches pops off fairly frequently. It's easy to put back on, but a little irritating.

Great craft project . I ordered these for a bunch of 4 year olds to paint for a birthday party. It was the main activity and the favor. Everyone had a great time, although the paint did stain some of the shirts. Some assembly was required, but the directions were good. Melissa and Doug offers such good quality and fun products - we were happy.

Fun project . I did this project with my 3 year old son. He had fun with it, although, you have to wait several hours for the glue to dry, and at least 2 hours for the paint to dry. Also, the stickers didn't fit the car right, and they did not stick well. Finally, the wheels don't turn, so they can't really drive it after it's all said and done. but, he had fun painting it.

Poor Quality . The idea and packaging for this car look promising. Our five-year old enjoyed painting, gluing and assembling the car. However, the stickers provided do not adhere to the wood at all, and the wheels do not turn. Our son thought he failed in putting the car together, since, in the end, it did not work. The idea for this product is nice, however, the quality is disappointingly poor. I gave three stars for "educational value", since we used this product to explain to our son the "garbage in, garbage out" concept.

Fun toy! . Bought this for my nephew as a just because I love you and miss you gift. Good bang for your buck! Not very expensive and my nephew loved it.

Best Tabletop Easel

Little artists can get those creative juices flowing with this Tabletop Easel.

Table-top Easel . Having used Melissa and Doug products for years and been satisfied with the great quality this is the first item which disappointed me. The idea of the easel is great and my daughter loves the versatility of using chalk, white board pens, magnetic toys and paint with the easel. However, it was very difficult to put together, with the side screws not fitting properly, it was also chipped and damaged in places. It is also difficult to close for storage because of the screws mentioned above. Their standing easel is much better quality and value.

Need to improve quality of product . I was not real happy when i received the product as once we put it together the frames kept separating from chalkboard/dry erase board. We had to fix/modify it at home so we could use it. My son loves this product and we have had lots of educational fun with it on the dry erase board side but the chalkboard does not work. We tried both sides and neither side will work. Company definitely needs to improve quality of product.
