Great asset for any Play-doh lover . This set is fantastic. The stamp/imprint pieces have the numbers 0-9 and all the capital letters. There is nothing to get broken, and it is fun for so many ages. My toddler likes to smush them into the play-doh to make a mark. My preschooler likes to identify letters, write his name, etc. and my grade schooler can be more elaborate with it. I love toys that work with many ages and give a lot of versatility (and don't have little pieces that break off or electronics that die!)

I keep the letters in one zip lock bag and the numbers in another. The letters are yellow and green and the numbers red and blue so it makes it easy to sort.

It creates a fun experience with letters beyond something stale and forced like a worksheet. I caught them on a sale one time and wished I had picked up extra for gifts!

Small letters . Somehow, I thought the full thing was bigger. The letters are very small to fill with dough by a three year's old small hands. My daughter always needs my help to get the dough out of the shapes and the letter in shape. The dough containers are also tiny. But I guess the learning value is the same. She is starting to identify the letters of her name, and a few others, and she likes to play with them despite the fact that she can't quite make the letters by herself yet. I would definitively like (and make) the letter shapes bigger.

Decent buy but pieces are smaller than in the pictures . Pretty decent buy but the pieces are much smaller than in the pictures shown. Also, the stencilled playdoh is a bit difficult to remove even with the knife provided.

pleased . Wow! lots of pieces. Pretty colors of playdough. I feel it was money well spent.

Too Small to Matter . I was very disappointed in this purchase. I was looking for a product that would give our little one a "hands on" experience with numbers and letters by stamping them out using play doh. But it turns out that the stamps are so tiny as to make it almost impossible to actually create a letter or number to hold. I'd be very interested in the same product but bigger.

Great!! . I purchased this toy as a gift. The children love it from day one. It's very educational and it keeps them busy. Every child should have one.

Nice but not the best . Bought this because the original Play-Doh set was sold out. I really don't like the rolling pin because you need to use the palm of your hand instead of the handles. The tube and attachments are too big, and the dough goes around the shapes instead of through it. The orange circles can only be used with your thumbs, making it a little messy and not very long pieces of spaghetti or other shapes. The scissors smoosh the dough instead of cutting, which just causes chaos with my son because it's "not right!". If you have the choice between this and the original Play-Doh set, go for the good one! I will continue to use this because it's all we have, but am going to hold out for the original and keep this as a back-up!

play doh rollers cutters more . This set was a real disappointment. The only good part was the tubs of playdoh themselves.. But if 2 new colors were all we wanted we could have saved money and bought them separately. The plunger, which should hold the end cap pieces -will not. The strip of shapes is very hard to use and the rolling pin doesn't work any better than your palm because nothing really rolls or moves on it. The scissors pinch and are very stiff. The only thing that works as it should is the knife! Very disappointing. This set is a far cry from what it should be.

My toddler's favorite toy! . This is one of the best toys I got so far for my 21 month toddler. She LOVES playing with the PlayDoh, but she still lacks the coordination to make figures by herself. This product is great for this age. She figured out very quickly how to use the accessories to mold the PlayDoh. Now she wants to play with it every day, and she is learning to play by herself, so it gives me free time! I definitely recommend it.

Two more comments:
- It comes with scissors and some smaller pieces. I just put these apart until she grows up a little. The rest of the accessories are very safe for a young child.
- It only comes with two colors. But for me that is enough. In fac, I always use one of them. My child is still small enough to play with two colors without mixing. So this is not a disadvantage. But if the child is older, I recommend buying some more play doh to complement.

And this is it. I wish there was a small bag to put all together, too. I am using one of those nice plastic bags from some shoes I bought her. But it would be a nice complement.

Playdoh & accessories . Who doesn't love playdoh? You can't ever go wrong with a playdoh purchase. The scissors & knife & roller are great (one reviewer mentioned that the handles aren't something you keep stationary, you have to move them as well...true & annoying, but my child doesn't know the difference). The cookie cutters are great. Oddly enough, this should really come with instructions (as I've seen others point out). I finally figured out the ruler with shapes in it actually slides over the red tube. The 4 orange pieces are completely useless. I threw them away. The only way to get the playdoh through the small holes is to push it through with your thumbs, and it barely works & makes a big mess in your fingernails. You definitely can't make spaghetti or anything with them. Like I said, they're useless. I guess I should have purchased a different kit, but this one does the job for the cost. So I had 4 useless pieces, oh well, the rest is great fun for my 3 yr old. =) I would recommend this if you're looking to start a small playdoh kit.

Play Doh rollers and cutters . I was not impressed with this toy.
I bought for my grandson and tried to play with it with him.
The extruder I thought would be able to make all the shapes of the tips it came with, however they could not be attached to the extruder.
The only thing the extruder was for was for the flat shape that could be slipped in.
The tips were worthless and difficult to use, so they were a waste.
Overall for the price, I think I could have done better.

Play-doh is the greatest . I teach Sunday School for the 3 turning 4-year-olds. This year has been a particularly difficult group and after a short lesson, we used to pull out puzzles and books. Then I went in the attic and dragged out my play-doh toys from 13 years ago. They love it and look forward to playing every week (but of course we have to have our lesson first.)I picked up this particular set because the scissors and roller are very popular and I needed a few more. My other rollers are exactly like this one - the whole thing is one piece not like my kitchen rolling pin. The kids have never complained and I never noticed until I read the reviews. The kids have also never complained about the scissors. The plunger extruder is not as popular as my lever one and it doesn't have the "hair" shape the kids love but the triangle is a popular second.Thank you for all the reviews about the orange things. I couldn't figure out what they were for. Great shapes, the kids would have loved them, but I took everyone's advice and just tossed them. I just don't want the kids to get frustrated instead of the friendly, sharing, experience we enjoy every week as we play.

Cons Review

Great Purchase . This product was a Christmas present for my 2yr old. (30 months) He loves it. Keeps him happy for at least an hour at a time, and when he gets bored we switch doh colors and the fun starts again. Such a great purchase.

Good ol' Play Doh Fun! . I bought this with a box of 10 or 12 mini tubs of colors and it was a great pairing. The 2 tubs that come with it are fine too but it was good for us and our rainy days on our vacation to the beach to have the other fun colors too. The little "cookie cutter" shapes were the biggest hit. My 4-year-old really liked making the 4 shapes in many different colors. He used the scissors to cut up his creations! I tried using the very human anatomy-looking plunger to make the shapes and that works fine. But there is no way I could figure out to use the spaghetti type shapers. I ended up pushing some thru with my fingers to make some long strings. So that part of the toy (the 4 orange button type things... also oddly looking like human anatomy!) gets one star. Especially since it does not explain anywhere on the container how to use those. I was probably not understanding how to use them. If they could attach to the plunger somehow they would work just great! You can make all kinds of shapes, strings, dots, etc, etc! It is a really nice set for being creative without the toy trying to tell you what to do. Like some of the food-themed sets would do.

Overall a high rating for Play Doh fun-ness!

Great except for the orange things . My 2(almost 3) year-old son loves play-doh we play it together so when I saw this set at a bargain price in the local supermarket I thought it would be ideal. The rolling pin and shape cutters are great, he really likes to play with them as well as the plastic scissors and knife(because they are plastic he won't cut himself). I am however rather disappointed with the extruder tube as only the ruler with shapes fits in it, the orange things don't at all, guess we won't be making spaghetti play-doh. You can only push the play-doh though with your thumb, basically the orange things are useless and a bit of a waste. Other than that this set was okay value wise and my son loves to play with it. I think an older child probably wouldn't be as easily pleased though.

Great tools and addition for play-doh . Everything is plastic so you don't have to worry about your child hurting themselves. Works well with Play-doh. My daughter loves to make the different shapes with the shape cutter.

Great craft project . I ordered these for a bunch of 4 year olds to paint for a birthday party. It was the main activity and the favor. Everyone had a great time, although the paint did stain some of the shirts. Some assembly was required, but the directions were good. Melissa and Doug offers such good quality and fun products - we were happy.

Fun project . I did this project with my 3 year old son. He had fun with it, although, you have to wait several hours for the glue to dry, and at least 2 hours for the paint to dry. Also, the stickers didn't fit the car right, and they did not stick well. Finally, the wheels don't turn, so they can't really drive it after it's all said and done. but, he had fun painting it.

Poor Quality . The idea and packaging for this car look promising. Our five-year old enjoyed painting, gluing and assembling the car. However, the stickers provided do not adhere to the wood at all, and the wheels do not turn. Our son thought he failed in putting the car together, since, in the end, it did not work. The idea for this product is nice, however, the quality is disappointingly poor. I gave three stars for "educational value", since we used this product to explain to our son the "garbage in, garbage out" concept.

Fun toy! . Bought this for my nephew as a just because I love you and miss you gift. Good bang for your buck! Not very expensive and my nephew loved it.
