Good quality beginner's loom . This is a great beginner's loom that works well. The wing nuts tighten up nicely and stay secure throughout a whole project. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because the kit didn't have enough beads in it to complete the smallest sample design. But, just buy a bag of Darice #10 multicolor beads along with the loom and you're set to make beautiful things.
Darice 1012-24 Bead Loom Reviews
This little loom is perfect for my needs! . I wanted to get into using a bead-loom and after much research decided to get this cheap one first before upgrading to make sure I liked the craft. Its perfect! No problems what so ever and I have already created really cool looking stuff. I highly recommend getting one. Its a great stress relief and fun! =D
Darice 1012-24 Bead Loom Opinions
Good loom for beginers . Great loom for a beginner, but be sure to get yourself some extra beads and a good instruction book, what comes with the loom is very basic and incomplete in terms of creating anything . You will want patterns, and help with technique.
Not terrific but okay . I purchased this to make beaded items. I would not repurchase this item because I think the better made bead looms I have seen since would have lasted me a lifetime and provided a better working area to bead on. It is delicate and cannot stand up to a lot of ware and tare. Children would have to be careful with it. It is a good 'toy' for learning to bead and would be good for an introduction to beading. I only paid about $8.00 for it and will have a good time learning to bead with it. I will later invest in a better quality loom that I can achieve better results on. I will look into perhaps making my own quality beading loom one day but this loom will do for an introduction to beading.
Difficult to set up instructions very vague . Not a starter kit. Took me a half hour to get the loom threaded. I have since given up as the instructions to weave the beads are even more vague than the threading. Wish I had not opened the box so I could return it.
Gotta Read! :) . YAY! Was I ever so happy to see this loom back; while my original was the Bakelite version, my mom threw it away (along with all my bead stuff which she wished she had asked me first before tossing it out) am I ever thrilled to see this in metal! I did a test-run and pulled the tensions down and it did not bend nor warp (aka "twist") which is good; meaning the metal is solid. On top of it all, the tension remained intact as I left it, even pushing down on it now and then for an entire day for I am exceeding picky about looms.Being a Master at beading and bead work - I do a lot of 3 mm and 4 mm - seed, glazed, glass, crystal, precious stones, gemstones, mineral stones, et al. Thanks Amazon for that; that was the only thing I had forgotten was how to set it up, other than that I know my way around and don't even need patterns or such the like for I have made so many years ago:This loom is wonderful for:Bracelets
Necklaces
Chokers
Head-dress (e.g. - head-bands, cowboy hat, etc.)
BeltsAdd-Ons:Purses / Clutch / Hand bags / etc.
Moccasins
Leather garments (NOTE: when completed, use leather needle to sew bead-work to Leather and Dry Clean Only; or you can have it
Clasps mounted in a clever way if you are an expert at it where this can be removed while your leather is being cleaned so that
your bead craftsmanship would not be damaged)
Experts? You can attach this to Vinyl outwear
Western Wear (e.g. - on pockets, collar, cuffs - see Leather garments above, except you would use a differing needle - permanent or removable)
Suede / Micro-Suede
Pillows (for that Diva, Trendy and Unique personal decor flavor)Picture Frame Border - how to do it:
You will need a raise glass frame at least 2.5 inches (if you are using single or double or even triple borders - make it at least 3 to 4 inches) - If the frame is for example 8 x 10 picture in a 11 x 16 frame - measure the beading you want as an embellishment on the boarder and do not use wires. Nylon thread is best, there are many patterns out there for curves and angles or you can skip it and leave spaces such as 2 inches before the end of the frame. Leave strand of thread, about 3 inches and knot it on each end.
Using a pencil after marking the spot after laying out the picture and arrangement and measuring it mark the spot with a pencil just shy of 3 inches and poke a little hole; carefully on a piece of scrap wood as not to damage the boarder frame using an awl poking a hole in so that there are now 8 holes (if you surrounded the photo with the bead work); then take Elmer's Wood Glue and
line the area of where the beads are to go into and then thread the strand of beads into the holes and tape it tight and measure it to make sure it is aligned straight and even and re-tape the back side tighter if need be. Let dry over-night. Flip border over on a clean work towel and now glue the strands and making sure the knots have been glued and put duct tape over the knot end if all possible. Keep in mind; the more beads you have on there, the heavier the border will be. It is not necessary for the border to be wide-banded. You can do a fancy bead artwork on top and bottom and leave it at that. Once the border or the Master Border with the "fancy artwork" has completely dried. Please be careful for you will be doing this upside down on a clean towel. Put the glass frame down first and layer it as it would be to be shown outwards then put the wood on the back. Normally the photo is on another border and is already aligned and taped so, once you put the nails or tacks in carefully first to secured it so it does not all fall out. Using the towel, and holding it. Lean it against the wall on the FLOOR and get on your knees or lie on the floor
and view it, you will be surprised and well pleased how it looks. Then carefully remove from floor and proceed in securing the frame completely and hang on wall or frame holder and just wait for tons of compliments including ... "Would you mind if you make one for me?":-D
BEADING LOOM . FOR THE PURPOSE THAT I NEEDED THIS LOOM WAS NOT VERY SUITABLE. THE NAIL IS VERY SMALL AND I CAN'T USE LEATHER CORDS TO DO MY BRACELETS.
Estupendoooo . Me ha gustado el artículo que adquirí. se lo di a mi cuñada y comenzó a trabajar en ello. Estupendo. Son económicos. Gracias
Cons Review Not worth trying . If you are inexperienced, this loom will make you promise never to try bead-looming again. It is too hard to warp, flimsy and unstable. If you are experienced (as I am) this thing will make you curse. Don't bother with this loom. Either start off using a shoebox (oh, yes, a cardboard shoebox is better than this junk) or spend a little more money and get something usable.
