If looking to develop vertical reading habits product is great. . The product is good, colorful, and the 3 year old for whom I bought it had great fun and went from struggling to get the string through the whole to zipping through a whole string very adeptly. *However*, a large portion of the beads are letters, which is wonderful and what I wanted, but the holes in the beads are positioned that the letters fall vertically and not horizontally. So once you've got them on the string, it's sideways reading. Not what I'd anticipated on the educational front, not what I'd expect for bead-stringing/necklace-making, etc...maybe just a key-ring, but that's not what 3 year olds tend to want to make. Also, as noted in previous reviews, there are several beads which require the hole to be enlarged with some kind of pointy tool you have handy.

Great fun quality craft activity . These are a lovely alterative to plastic-y beads. My 3 year old daughter loves stringing them, sorting them and spelling her name with the letters. My only complaint is that a few of the decorative beads have tiny holes that are extremely difficult to thread on the sting without a needle. We solved this problem with a large tapestry needle. I would definitely buy another bead kit from this company.

Makes lots of bracelets and necklaces! . This kit will provide hours of crafty fun for the little girl in your life. I purchased this set for my neice who is 5. She had so many toys on her list that I thought it would be nice to get her something that will put her imagination to work and also end up with something that she can say she made herself. The set comtains so many beads, I am pretty sure she will run out of string before she runs out of beads. Additional string can be purchased at the local craft store for very little money. There are plenty of alphabet beads to make many named pieces, as well as pretty colored beads to compliment. The tray it comes in is really nice and will help keep her organized as she creates her masterpieces.Highly recommend!

Awesome beading for beginners! . I bought this bead box for my 3 and 4 year olds to help with fine motor skills. Along with the motor skills, we worked on spelling and on sequencing- Not only is it fun, but it really does have educational value. This is definately not a beading set for my toddlers to do by themselves though. The beads are small, and I would bet the pretty colors would make them want to "taste" them if mom wasn't watching. A little bit older child could be trusted with them and would really enjoy them!
