Good idea....keeps my child busy . The only problem I had this item was the instant I took it out of its plastic wrap and opened it up, the chalkboard fell out of its hinges on the top. A little bit of extra strength super glue fixed it and am hoping the dry erase side doesn't fall out later. Otherwise my 2.5yr old loves writing with the chalk and putting magnetic letters on the other side. Great investment - even if I have chalk dust all over my floor.

Melissa and Doug magnetic dry erase easel . I like this little easel very much. I teach literacy and I needed something I could put on top of a table. It allows the kids to have a close view of the letters and words. Since painting is not part of my program, I use the holders for my pencils and markers...Perfect! I have to transport it back and forth several times from my literacy program site to my car, so I do wish that it folded without my having to unscrew the wooded pegs each time. However, if you have a permanent spot for this little easel, you will just love it!

Table top easel . The "dry erase" board is only a white plastic board with plastic over the top; therefore, it is next to impossible to clean. I was very disappointed and would not recommend this to anyone

My daughter loves this toy! . My 8 year old daughter got this for Christmas last year and she loves it. She keeps it on her short dresser which is nice because it doesn't take up floor space. She plays with it all the time. She loves to play school with her little sister and friends. It has been durable, the only issue I had was my daughter wiped the chalkboard side with a wet paper towel a few times and it started to warp the board a little. You can't tell unless you push hard on it in a certain spot. This is definitely one toy we have gotten our moneys worth out of.

Great Idea--Poor Execution . This table-top easel would be a great and useful "toy" if it were made well. We homeschool and have had this easel for a couple of years. It almost immediately fell apart. We have re-glued and re-stapled it several times. All Melissa and Doug painted-wood items we have purchased have not held together. This is because all the individual parts are painted before gluing, and the joints don't hold. As I stare at the pieces of this easel, which has fallen apart YET AGAIN, I would suggest that you search for a better table-top easel.

both received broken...poor product . both were received broken. Glue didn't hold produc together. it fell apart when it was opened. the would was so fragle it cracked in my hand...very disapointed.

Just what I was looking for. . This easle is the perfect size, not to big not to small. Great on top of my daughters little table and chairs. Her brother can use one side and she can use the other at the same time.

Very durable. They dropped it on the floor the other day and I found them riding it like a horse but it was no trouble at all.

The only problem that we are having is that the boards on each side are starting to come loose. I think I'm going to wait until they peel off a little more and then glue them back on. Right now it's not affecting it's use.

easel hunter . My 3year old son loves this easel. I like it because it sits on the table instead of most of them that take up a lot of room on the floor. We have had this easel for a year now and it has been pretty durable, one of the wooden screws will not stay screwed in anymore but it isn't an issue.

Cons Review

Easel(y) a Great Purchase . This is a great easel. The two sides provide a choice between chalk (which is what we're using most with my two year old) or dry erase marker. One of the best features is the magnetic surfaces on BOTH chalkboard and dry erase surfaces. You can play with this easel either on a table top or just on the floor. Educationally, the sky is the limit.

I highly recommend this easel. It' great fun. Easel(y), one of the best purchases we've made for our child.

I have had the same problems with this as others . As soon as I took it out of the plastic and picked it up, the easel fell apart. I was so upset because I was looking forward to opening this item and immediately surprising my child with some quality time and activity.

This is poorly put together, but once you use some glue and let it sit for while to dry it should be fine. My child absolutely loves the easel. Learning ABC's and numbers(education), drawing pictures(creativity), and playing connect the dots with straight lines(dexterity) all keep a child occupied, happy and more importantly interested.

Great idea. Poorly built product that can be fixed with some epoxy. I would have given 5 stars if it didn't immediately fall apart right out of the original packaging.

easel is good but ... . the easel is fine, the kids love the marker board. BUT, i ordered the package including the paints and the containers and all the art supplies along with it. I did not receive the art supplies, christmas has come and gone. Baby Age say they sent it, but i have not received it. I'm still trying to get this figured out on the phone, which we all know takes forever. And who has spare time to wait on the phone? Great item....when I finally received all the pieces..rude customer representative soured the deal... . I have purchased many Melissa & Doug products for my grandchildren. This year, I ordered 2 of these easels: one shipped directly to an out-of-state granddaughter; the second for another granddaughter who would be at my house Christmas Day.

Grandpa and I began assembling the big "Santa-type" gifts Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm. We had completed 2 race track-train sets and table and chairs when Grandpa opened the easel box. We found no "hardware" and no clips in the box-this meant there would be "no assembly" tonight. Five grandchildren were expected Christmas morning and ALL five were to have a big gift under the tree!

I placed a call to the number at Melissa & Doug and left a message about the incomplete merchandise and my disappointment. Now I needed to find a store open to purchase a different "big" present for my granddaughter.

Granted, I should not have waited until the 11th hour to open and assemble. My past purchase history with Melissa & Doug have been flawless: their merchadise superior. I never expected anything less.

Christmas morning things were fine. "Santa" left a note on the unassembled box that an elf left the nuts and bolts and they would be mailed in 2 weeks. This was satisfactory to her.

Telephone communication began, and on Thursday January 10th, the package arrived. I opened it immediately and ALL the bolts, washers and screws were accounted for but not the "4 colorful clips". I called the Melissa & Doug store. I was not happy that the toy was still incomplete. The representative stated that the clips would be sent out. I remarked that my granddaughter would have to wait another 2 weeks for this Christmas gift and would I be compensated (I was thinking they could at least send an extra roll of paper for our trouble). I was told that "oh she can use it without the clips" and that it wasn't the fault of Melissa & Doug, but the vendor. She became very rude when I stated that the fault is with whomever forgot to pack the box with ALL parts.

This was the wrong attitude to take with a customer. I bought a new, deluxe set (not second-hand or as is) and I paid retail (not reduced, discount or clearance price). I paid, and I expect to get what I paid for when I receive the merchandise -not piece by piece, week by week. THIS WAS AN INCONVENIENCE-having to run around to buy a replacement gift on Christmas Eve, to make an excuse as to why the easel was not ready for her to take home, multiple phone calls had to be made and now I was told I had to wait again!

One mistake, I can overlook...but the second mistake accompanied with rudeness from the Melissa & Doug representative means it will be a cold day at the equator before I buy a product from this company again.

I had high hopes based on their quick response the first two times, but with no product and no response I am starting to lose my patients and would prefer a full refund so I can buy my kids a replacement VERY BELATED Christmas gift.****update:the shipper has already been back in touch with me and sending replacement directly from mellisa and doug. Will update again when package received and easel put together**I love Melissa and Doug products and have been eying the deluxe standing easel for some time. It being Christmas, we decided it was time to save up and buy them this set along with the companion supply bundle set.Initially we were going to build and set it up for them to see on Christmas day, but decided to wrap it instead. Today the children asked to paint so I decided to put it together.The first thing to note is that the product was shipped it its own box without any exterior packaging. This concerned me a little but the box itself looked undamaged when we received it so I still had high hopes. Then I made the mistake of starting to actually put the pieces together and here is what I saw...1. The first thing I noticed was that one of the brackets on the upper legs was bent. While slightly disappointed, because who wants damaged goods when they pay good money, but it was still usable, so I continued to put on the lower legs which leads to issue two.
2. One of the legs does not match the rest of the legs. In fact it looks like a replacement part. The wood is not smooth (bumpy and rough), it is not the same color as the other pieces, and has a different grain. I even wonder if it is the same type of wood, but I am not a wood expert so that I am not sure of.
3. Then it was time to put on the leg braces. The first brace was fine. The second was a repaired piece. You can see where it was damaged, fixed, and repainted. If I wanted to order a used easel I would have purchased this from craigslist. But this isn't even the worse part.
4. The easel, though now obviously not a brand new product, was still usable, so I was going to dismiss it all just to make the kids happy, but when I removed the chalk board and the dry erase board from the box, both had one corner broken off. Broken off enough that there was no longer a hole to screw in the screw.Now the easel is just taking up space in my living room, as it is unusable. I have two young children who are extremely disappointed, and I am a bit upset myself. I paid good money for this product. It seems pointless to mail the product back as there are so many damaged pieces (don't want some other unlucky person to get "repaired" or unsightly "replacement" pieces, but I am not even sure I want a replacement. I might as well get a refund and buy something locally.I am not sure if this was an error on the part of Melissa and Doug, or if the shipper made a poor judgement call and added non-original/repaired parts. All I know is this is not acceptable.To be fair, the product itself, if nothing was damaged or it had its original parts, would have been a solid piece along with easy directions. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth, but I have emailed the shipper and am hoping they will either fully refund me or send me an entirely new set with "original" and not "like new" pieces. I will update this review once I have some feedback from the seller. I can say that the last time I emailed them (when I first received the package) about my concern of the missing companion set, they emailed be back the same day to inform me they were in the box so I am hopeful they will respond to my email quickly.

easel well worth the money!!! . My husband and I bought this easel for our 5yr old daughter for Christmas. We are very pleased with how durable it is made, and the trays on both sides make it very easy for her to use paints or crayons. It also has clips which hold the paper in place, they thought of everything!!!!! Did I mention the paint containers are SPILL PROOF!!!!! She loves this and was painting into the night on Christmas night. The easel and bundle pack are worth every penny and we will get many years of enjoyment from it!!!!

Awesome Christmas present . I love this easel! Not only is built well, it comes with everything you need. The paint cups are designed so there is no spillage. The chalkboard is great and the dry erase board is fun too. My son loves to draw pictures for us and act like a teacher and conduct his class from his board. I ended up buying extra markers for different colors, the easel comes with only a blue one. Great gift, highly recommended!

A great tabletop easel for a great price! . My son is only 21 months old, so I wasn't sure how he would do with an art easel. I therefore didn't want to spend a lot of money on it--which makes this the perfect choice for me! I set it up for him yesterday, and he's been playing with it ever since. I prefer that he use crayons and paper at this age (rather than the messy chalk and dry erase markers), so I used a clip to attach some paper to the easel and he's been coloring away! Once he's a little bit older, I'll introduce the markers and the chalk. The easel seems durable, but I can't comment on that really, since its only been one day. Even if it doesn't last that long, it was a small price to pay for a good activity.

Childsupply Economic Adj. Easel . The holes where the screws go into were sharp and the wood on several was splintered. Screws were to short or stripped, wooden knobs can't be tightened or loosened because the screws aren't secured, dry esase dosen't erase, (no instructions as to whether this is even a dry erase) although it looks exactly like all the dry erase boards in my house. Will erase if you do it immediately, if you wait 2 seconds forget it. The wooden tray falls off if bumped at all, easel then collapses and falls over, very dangerous for small children. My 8 year old Granddaughter tipped it over twice in 30 minutes.

This product was the worst item I have purchased in years. Not worth a third of the money even without the above defects. Junk!!!!

Cons Review

Don't waste your money . We purchased this easel for our 7 year old daughter. It's a HUGE disappointment. Extended to its full height, my daughter still has to kneel to use it. The claim that it grows with your child is bogus. Not sure how a 14-year-old will use it without having to put it on a raised surface. The chalkboard doesn't really take to chalk very well, you really have to push down. The dry erase board, well, doesn't erase very well at all. We used good dry erase markers on it, and when we erased, it left a lot of ghosting. We've had it for less than a month, and we're already in the market for a new easel - one that stands taller, and has better a quality chalkboard and dry erase surface. This one's going in the trash.

good easel poor assembly instructions . We bought this easel for our 21-month-old toddler. She loves, the easel, and we like it a lot too. So far she only draws on paper -- we have not tried the chalkboard or whiteboard yet. The easel is quite stable, and although it's true that the chalk tray can get bumped out of place, this doesn't seem to happen too often and when it does, the easel doesn't collapse.

The assembly was quite a problem for us. The main issue is that the assembly instructions show the entire upper portion of the easel (the chalkboard-whiteboard-hinge assembly) as though it were already put together, but it was not -- it came in pieces. It's not that hard to assemble it, but without any instructions to do so it took us 30 minutes or so extra. Also, one of the screws was incorrect. I called the company today and they promised to send a new one. Another reviewer commented on sharp and splintered wood. We didn't encounter that.

Birthday present for my son's teacher. . The 1st grade class helped to purchase this for their teachers birthday. She just absolutley loves and uses it everyday. She told me that this was the best present she has ever received.

The best wood easel around! . I am VERY impressed with the craftmanship of this easel. The easel is worth every penny. I am always leary ordering online with a company I have never delt with before. The easel showed up damaged during shipping. I had a small chip in the wood and a dent in the magnetic board. I called the company to let them know. I could live with the wood and sand it down myself but I wanted a new magnetic board. The gentleman on the phone said to me, "We do not want you to live with anything but perfection" They in turn sent me a brand new unit and told me to dispose of the damaged one. The new easel showed up in two days. I was so impressed! This was also the week of Christmas! I can't say enough for the customer service of this company and the product. This is more than an easel, this is a piece of furniture!

Quick response . When I got this item, I got the wrong one. So I sent an email to the company and they sent me an email saying that was a mistake from the manufacture and they are going to send the right item. Also, they told me that I can keep the wrong item which was a desk with a chair to paint. When I finally get the right item one of its legs was broken, so I sent another email to the company and they replied me immediately that they are going to send the replacement and also I can keep the broken one.

Awesome easel!! . We received this as a gift for our 2 1/2 year old daughter in 2006. She loved it then and continues to love it now! It's the most versatile easel I've seen and a great value for the money! It is very sturdy and has held together wonderfully! We got some pipsqueeks washable markers, washable crayons, dry erase markers, and alphabet & number magnets for it. Our daughter has a great time creating and learning things! You can purchase the rolls of paper at Ikea very inexpensively. I've seen many of the other easels on the market and I don't think they are even comparable to this (and most of them cost quite a bit more). We are very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone :o)

Horrible Customer Service Junk! . I purchased this item after reading many reviews on many different easels. I loved that this one flipped and she would be able to use both sides without having to have a big space for it. The idea is great but poorly executed! I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, opened it to put it together and realized the entire white board was bubbled underneath. If you wrote on it it made horrible noises and didn't lay flat. I contacted Guidecraft hoping I could get a replacement before Christmas. It was the first of December, they assured me it would be shipped out asap. Well it never came....Jan 1st I contacted them again. They say it is on backorder and will not arrive til' March 1st. Well I am writing this review now on March 1st after yet another email to let me know it is now not going to come in until May 1st! I am giving up at this point and going to buy another easel. Hopefully one that the markers show up on and the chalk you can actually see. This is an absolute waste of money!

Broken white boards . I bought this for my two year old. It arrived with a broken white board. When I called for a replacement they said they were having trouble with their white boards and bc of that they won't be available until June 2010. They are shipping me a new white board in June.

Disappointed w/ design flaws . While this product is great for small spaces and offers fun activities as promised, I had a problem with mine sliding back while my child was "creating." When I set something behind the legs to keep it from sliding, it began collapsing altogether. I didn't rate it lower because I put it away for when she can draw with a lighter hand. I was also thinking I might affix some sort of rubber to the legs because our table is very smooth (but it is a "tabletop" easel so I would have thought the designers would have accounted for smooth surfaces.) Also, I didn't like the way the paint tray/cups cover the bottom portion of the marker board/painting surface.

Excellent Table-Top Easel . This table-top easel is great because we have a small apt. It currently sits on a small play table and when our toddler paints we move it to our dining room table so she has more space. When the paints are not in use, our 3 yr uses it to draw/story-tell. Even our 1 yr old likes to cruise by and make marks with the crayons/chalk. It is very nice quality and easy to put together. Since this easel is easy to assemble/disassemble, you need to re-tighten the side knobs occasionally. I like that if we want to store away, it won't take up a ton of space. It would make a great toddler gift.

Worth the money! . I love this easel! I searched and searched for a easel for my son. He's 7 so this is perfect and he will be able to use it for a few years because it is a little taller than others. I didn't want something cheap that would fall apart easy. This easel is great!! Missing Pieces . When we unpacked the items it all scattered. There were pieces missing and extra parts we did not need. Bought it for my daughter for Christmas, will be returning it and requesting for my money back. Will not buy from this company ever again.

Double Sided Easel Opinions
The one I was looking for . This is great, arrived in 2 days. The black chalkboard surface is 23 x 23 and the white surface side is the same. From the floor up to the bottom of the tray is 20". It took about 1 hour for us to put it together. Of course my husband and I had to have the usual ranting and raving during the process. The red cloth storage baskets have strong velcro straps that velcro around the board rather than loop thru it. I placed large plastic shoe boxes from the Dollar Store in each of the three compartments to put supplies in to keep the compartments looking nice We are grandparents and it took us back to those late Christmas Eve nights in the 1970's of 50,000 screws and missing parts. But this was NOT the case with this easel. All parts and all screws were there! I highly recommend this item.

Good for my toddler. . This item was a gift for my 2.5 year old and although we were concerned it might be a bit tall we bought it anyway and were pleasantly surprised to find out it had adjustable height making it short enough for my daughter to use but also giving it the ability to grown with her. My husband and brother put it together and it was fairly uncomplicated however the pictures were not entirely clear about the orientation of the pieces. The only complaint we have about the easle so far is that the chalk board is hard to write on. We've used a couple different types of chalk and they seem to be rubbing chalboard paint off more than writing on the board. We can't figure out how to make it better - maybe continued usage will wear it in a bit? Other than that we really like this for our child. The baskets hold a lot and they are right at her level and we hope she will continue to get a lot of enjoyment out of it for years to come.

Pleasantly surprised! . I purchased this as a Christmas gift for our 4 and a half year old daughter who loves arts and crafts! When it arrived, the main pieces were missing to put it together (all the screws and caps). There was no way to have it up and ready for Santa in the morning. I contacted the seller and they shipped the missing pieces within days! I had thought that this would have been a ravingly bad review but I was pleasantly suprised at the customer service efforts. SHE LOVES IT! Great quality and it is BIG - large enough to keep growing into it!Thank you!!!

great quality easel . What a great easel. I had contemplated purchasing the IKEA model easel for like $14, but it couldn't stand up to the quality offered by Melissa and Doug. The M&D has a blackboard, whiteboard, paints, crayons, chalk and paper! It even includes a plastic clear mat to place on the floor so it catches spills etc. The paint is completely washable - my daughter got some on our wood floors and it came right off, without a trace.
Putting the easel together though, was slightly difficult. My husband said the average homeowner would need a little more time reading the complicated directions to get the jist of how to put the easel together. It could have been illustrated better. And who has time for directions when you have two little kids jumping around you, waiting in anticipation for their easel to be set up :)

All in all, at the end of it all, a great product that will last years and years and years. Thanks for making quality, M&D

* No vinyl Dropcloth (A MUST when easel is used by a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old)
* No Triangular Crayons
* No Jumbo Chalk

But these items are NOT listed on the Melissa & Doug packaging!

So is Amazon.com providing FALSE information about the products being offered?

At the time I ordered the "Deluxe" easel, it cost roughly $50 more than the same easel WITHOUT the accessory package. I WOULD NOT have ordered this "Deluxe" package if I had known Amazon.com provided FALSE information about what is included. I would have saved money by ordering the easel itself and buying the supplies at a local craft store.

Very disappointed in the FALSE INFORMATION STILL LISTED ON Amazon.com regarding what is included in the "Deluxe" easel.

My daughter's favorite present . My daughter received this from Santa this year, and she loves it. She is very artsy/craftsy, and this is perfect for her. She is 6 years old, and with the boards mounted on their highest level the height is perfect for her - with some room for her to grow taller. It was also easy assembly - I did it alone, and it took approximately one hour (with some minor adjustment time included). The paint cups that came with it have built in "funnels" that make for a great place to wipe the brushes so that you don't use too much paint, along with not having paint get all over the outside of the cups (and therefore on everything else). All in all, easy to assemble, and great that it came with all the accessories - it made for very easy setup for her to start painting and drawing.

Best Purchase Ever Made On Amazon!!! . I have to say that this product has probably made me the most satisfied I've ever been about a purchase I've made here on Amazon. The easel was very simple to put together. My husband and I were expecting to spend an hour or so putting this together and had it together within about 20 minutes. The instructions were easy to understand. The easel is of high quality. Very sturdy. Lot's of little details and very colorful. It stores easily too.

A great addition for a 2 and a 4 year old . This was a gift from grandma for our 2 and 4 year olds. It was easy for my husband to put together (no colorful language) and pretty quick. It sits sturdily and evenly on the floor and gets almost daily use. I think that it encourages creativity and self-directed play. I would definitely recommend it.

Great value . This is a really nice easel. We bought it for our 5 year old daughter for Christmas. It was easy to assemble and is nice quality. It reminds me of toys from when I was a kid... you know, quality joints, held together with screws, durable, etc. My only issue is the erasable marker that comes with it. It's really cheap, somehow doesn't fit with the rest of the product. Like maybe it was an afterthought. But a replacement is inexpensive and it certainly isn't something that should discourage you from purchasing this item.

Not what you order . Although my granddaughter's loved this product once they received it (it was delivered 5 days after the promised date and after their birthday party), it was missing 2 of the item listed in the "Product Features". That was the Triangular Crayons and the Vinyl Drop Mat. When I contacted the seller to arrange to have these items sent to my granddaughters I was informed that these items are not included and I should have known that if I had read the "Product Description" portion. I didn't know there was a difference but now I do and you should also. They won't be sending the items but did offer to sell then to me and as far as for taking 13 days for shipping from New York to California, no excuse at all. I think I will be passing on this seller in the future.

Granddaughter becomes junior Picasso . I purchased Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easel with the goodies to set out and create immediately. My 4 year old grandbaby, Emma-Kate, donned her smock and and created lady bugs, palm trees and all sorts of critters! She is developing so many amazing skills with this one gift that was the highlight of her Christmas!

Love this Easle! . This easel was easy to put together. That alone gets high marks. It is colorful and great quality. My five year old son loves it. He right away wanted to play "school" and write his letters on the dry erase board. The paints don't require mixing or adding water. They wash up with water alone. The chalks come in ten different colors. My son is 44'' tall and I put the dry erase board and the chalk board on the second position. That height works great for him now and gives the easel "room to grow". I am very happy with this purchase and enjoy telling others about the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Art Easel.

Great Standing Easel . I purchased this easel for my almost 2 year old daughter and 4 1/2 year old son as a Christmas present from their grandma. It arrived just a few days after purchasing it here on Amazon.com. I also purchased the Melissa & Doug Accessories Kit and two art smocks to go with it. The only thing missing is a drop cloth that I thought was included in the accessory kit. When my kids opened this gift from their grandma on Christmas they were so excited and couldn't wait for it to be put together. My husband assembled it in no time and the height adjustments on the lowest level is perfect for them right now. They love painting, coloring and using the chalkboard. So far they have been good about taking turns using each side. This is a great standing art easel at a great price!!! We love it!!!

Love it! . My hubby and I decided to splurge on the easel. We figure we were going to buy one anyway, why not just get the one that comes with the tower? We are so gald we did! This is a quality chalkboard that works perfectly right out of the box- no 'seasoning' and sillyness like I have seen with others. Even the cheap chalk shows up well! Our little girl is very short, and she can reach it to draw. We have the chalkboard side out, and we placed a cup of Crayola pip squeek markers on the tower platform. When she gets tired of helping moma in the kitchen, she sits down and draws. It is nice that she can still use both sides of the easel. Is comes with a VERY STROMG magnet that sticks to both sides to hold paper. I have not tried it yet, but I can't imagine the paper could possibly slip out! It also came with a kit to hang it on the wall later on- bonus!
My only complaint would be that it did not come with cups to go in the holes. I did find that the little metal pails in the cheapie section at Target fit well, but could not find a color that looked decent. I would buy this again in a heartbeat!

Little Partners Learning Tower Art Easel - Ebony Black Reviews
Good with Some Reservations . I'm glad we got the easel for my 2yr old son to use with his learning tower. We've loved the learning tower and getting the easel only made it better. Overall I think it's great but there are three things about it that I find mildly irritating:

1. There are holes drilled to hold containers for the chalk but it doesn't come with containers to go in those holes. So after we got it I had to try to find cups that would fit those holes for the chalk. It would be nice if toys designed for parents of young children didn't force a shopping expedition for another accessory after they arrived. So far we've found one cup that fit but are still searching for another.

2. There's a white board on the other side of the chalkboard so I also bought markers so we could reverse it. It looks like it should be easy to reverse but I don't think you can do it without a screwdriver to remove and flip the container that holds the chalk or markers. Again, not a deal breaker but disappointing that it isn't as flexible as I thought it was.

3. Finally, it's a minor hazard for a curious little toddler. There's a handle on the top of the easel to make it easy to remove it or turn it (which really isn't necessary because you can't turn it easily anyway as discussed in point 2). This handle is right at the level where my son's hands rest when he's standing in the learning tower so it of course caught his attention. He got his hand stuck in it at first and then we got concerned that he might hurt himself if he moved the wrong way with his hand pinned under this handle. We tried to remove the handle but because of the way it's installed we can't do that. So instead ours is covered over with duct tape. It's also very easy for the easel to get accidentally kicked while standing in learning tower. I've found this leads to some combination of the following three things -- chalk everywhere, fear because it made a loud noise, or more kicking because it made an interesting noise. The kicking hasn't been a major problem but I wish there were an easier way to deal with the handle problem on the top but I guess duct tape works even if it isn't pretty.

Overall I like the easel and would buy it again but it would be great if these problems were fixed because we haven't been using it much for the last several months because of these problems.

Best Space Saver and overall play toy. . I purchased the art easel for my 2 yr old and she LOVES IT! We put the whiteboard side out and she uses the crayola washable pip squeaks markers on it and they work great. I just use a baby wipe to clean everything, her, the easel and markers off of our wood floor. It also did not take up any extra space in our house since it fits on the learning tower we already had. I definitely did not want to take up more floor space with an art easel.

Great addition to the "learning tower" . I gave this easel Little Partners Natural Art Easel, along with dry eraser markers, to my granddaugher for Christmas this year. She LOVES IT! Now her "learning tower" Little Partners LP00401 Learning Tower, Natural includes opportunities to draw, write, and create in the kitchen with Mommy. What a great idea to further the versatility of learning tower! In a very small space, a child can climb, help Mommy, imagine all kinds of things, and now express themselves through drawings and written words.

Finally found what I was looking for! . My son has cerebral palsy (blanket term for brain injury.) He'll be five soon and is just learning to walk. In order to strengthen his core for walking he needs to spend time knee standing. I've been looking for a long time for an easel that is super stable so that if he were to accidentally lean forward on it while on his knees (he loses his balance a lot) it wouldn't tip over. This easel fits the bill perfectly! The added bonus is that it doesn't take up any more space in my house because we already own The Learning Tower! I was worried about having to use tape to get paper to stay up but it comes with a really strong, long magnet that holds large sheets of paper up perfectly! My other two children (ages two and seven) love this easel as well! I highly recommend the Little Partners Art Easel.

Works for twins! . I am a big fan of the Learning Tower. It is one of the best purchases I have made for my four year twins. When I first saw the Easels, I was curious if we would be able to use two at the same time on one Learning Tower. Let me answer that question right away. TWO Easels WILL fit on one Learning Tower. I couldn't find this info anywhere and was a little peeved that Little Partners never returned my email to answer this question. They easily hang on the side and there is also a hook to secure them on the bottom. They fit well and stay tight.

We got two red easels although our Learning Tower is natural. In retrospect, I would get natural. We have already had a couple of very small scratches in the red (I believe I have heard the same thing about the painted Learning Towers). The ledge at the bottom of the Easel comes off and reattaches to switch from chalk to white board so I feel that more scratches are probably going to happen. For that reason, the natural might hold up better, but I couldn't resist the red. The red is pretty but it is bright, a little brighter than I pictured (not cherry, but fire engine).

The assembly was very quick and easy. My husband didn't even complain and he hates putting stuff together.

Both sides of the easel are magnetic and there is a SUPER strong magnetic strip for hanging paper to use it that way. I didn't see that info mentioned in the item descriptions, and it works great.

Wall mounting hardware is included. Frankly, I don't think my husband would ever let me hang something so heavy on our walls but at least it is an option.

The chalkboard works great. No seasoning needed whatsoever, which is a relief.

The height of the Easel is kind of short. My kids can stand at it now (they are tall for their age), but it will be a little short for them in the next couple years. I think a little stool will work fine though, and I still prefer this over a stand-alone easel since it is using the existing Learning Tower footprint.

Also, keep in mind that the Easel is perpendicular to the floor. There is no "tilt" like a traditional Easel. Not sure how much difference this makes to my kids who haven't ever had an Easel.

It is a little bit of a pain to switch the shelf beneath the Easel from one side to the next. You have to wiggle it out and reinsert on the other side. I wish that they included some kind of cup in the holes, but possibly they were designed for pre-filled paint cups? I have found that a cheap plastic kids cup from a restaurant fits well and can hold water, paint, brushes, or chalk.

Having one Easel on the Learning Tower all the time might work fine, but with two it makes it really heavy. All that means, is that I take them off while we are using the Learning Tower for other things. Plus the ledge poking out would keep it from coming close to the counter. Again, one alone could be kept on the opposite side and might work fine.

Overall, I really like it. For us, it works much better than a full-size easel which would really take up too much space. I think they are well made and very nice looking. I don't think that the Easel is as much of a design and manufacturing wonder as the Learning Tower itself, but I would probably give it a strong four out of five stars.

Great gift for grandkids . We purchased this for our 2 granddaughters, ages 3 & 1. They love it. We also bought the art easel for it. Since they have so much stuff & are hard to buy for, everyone on our side of the family chipped in which made it a very inexpensive gift that would be used.

Well worth the money according to our daughter.

Must-Have Accessory . The easel was almost an afterthought to our Learning Tower purchase, but it was a great choice. At this point we have only used the dry-erase side for its magnetic capabilities, but we know we will use all of the features in the coming months and years.

Awesome Easel . We love our Little Partners Art Easel; it fits perfectly with the Learning Tower and was easy to assemble (it took under 30 mins). I love that the easel tray for paint and holding chalk is easy to attach and detach when switching from dry erase board to chalk board and that the easel comes with a piece that gives you the option to attach the easel to the wall. This art easel was a great choice for us since we are short on space and we like our kids toys to be functional yet public space appropriate.

wonderful product . I have two year old twins and they love this. They love drawing on the chalkboard and dry erase side. As a bonus the dry erase markers have come off the wood so far when they've enthusiastically colored on more than just the board part. That was a pleasant surprise. Good size for them. Nothing bad to say about this product.

fun and durable . My child loves this toy. It holds up well and all the crayons and markers are nice. The colored pencils are of good quality too. The sketch pad it comes with has pretty thin paper that is a darker hue than plan white paper so the color pencils and crayons don't really show well on it. The chalk board is cute and works great, the eraser it comes with is a super cheap piece of sponge that doesn't wipe the chalk off but a damp washcloth does. It is confusing for my 2 yr old that you can't use all the color markers on the white board, just the black one. I would've liked it to come with some color white board markers. The drawers are a little loose but stay in unless you flip it on its side and try to shake them out. All in all it is a cute thing for kids that like to sit and color and such. It helps that my son can clip his paper on the board and color on the couch so his 11 month old sister doesn't steal his stuff!

B. Toys' Take it Easel- fun developmental play + storage. We love it! . This was one of the toys I was most looking forward to giving for Christmas. I could not find it in local stores but found a coupon and ordered from Barnes & Noble for half of what this is listed here. I was loathe to wrap it up as I knew my newly two tear old wouldn't understand it when he first opened it, but I was a good mommy and waited another month to do it right. The first thing I noticed was that the white board wasn't necessarily "dry erase". It uses washable markers and is cleaned with a damp cloth followed by a dry wiping. This is great since we bought 50 washable crayolas for Christmas as well. Now we have about 60 markers with which to enjoy the white writing surface. The markers it comes with are B. eautiful. they are typical B. Toys colors, a nice change from the harsh primary color scheme everything else seems to come in. The chalkboard is just plastic, but so far it writes nicely (often plastic blackboards skip badly when chalked). There isn't much to say about this so far- I haven't been able to find colorful chalk pens locally, and a two year old is obviously going to break regular chalk so we haven't used it much so far. It would be nice if it came with those. They've been a challenge to find! My favorite parts: even though the description says it turns into a tabletop easel I expected they meant for white-and-blackboarding. The closure clasp, however, works to hold paper over the whiteboard for painting, coloring, markering and saving for the fridge. The bottom of the whiteboard locks into top edge of the storage base and locks in firmly at that. It can be a little frustrating to take back down, but I remind myself of the crucial stability it is offering in exchange for a moment of sweat- I just worry I'll snap it sometimes because I'm not quite sure if theres a way I'm supposed to remove it except by force. The storage underneath is amazing. I love things that come with their own storage, but this takes it for me. I did not expect to store the chalk, eraser, 60 washable markers, 10 pots of paint, 5 brushes and a paint and marker pad in this little toy! But it all fits! As expected my little guy did not understand any of this when he opened it Christmas day. Now, however, he asks to get it out all day. I have it stored suitcase style under my television stand. The handle is very convenient for pulling it out. We are very happy with it. I enjoy toys which engage parents with their children. I would certainly repurchase this toy if it was damaged or lost. Very worth the money!
