Terrific Color . Finally, a great crayon for the paper we use.

My partner teacher brought these to my attention when "mysteriously" a pack turned up in her classroom. What a find! So we both are working right now on small bookmaking on black paper we got at the dollar store anyway, and these color in fantastically. This is keeping kids actively engaged.
First of all Crayolas are the best but NOT supplied to me or my students, so every year I go buy 16 or 24 color packs for my 1st graders. I have bought 100 color packs, but not the last two years. The cost is more than I can justify. It so helps within our work to use these to illustrate ideas, highlight words, fill in data tables...it goes on and on. But it is true that on construction they aren't hardy enough on richly colored paper to show well. (So then I purchased high end Pentel pencils.) And that's a dilemma because it's all the paper we have and I know they'll soon eliminate that.

What a great thing to find that we can get a couple boxes of these to add into our rooms. This year both of us are enriching the rooms with things like gel pens and supplies that make doing your work more of a pleasure. We've both decided this is necessary. Plus of course teaching art as a part of the disciplines. My package just arrived and in November I'll re-order. It is a study box and the color range is lovely-so that it will engage my class in the "pattern books" Every month my kids make 6 to 8 page pattern books to illustrate and name patterns. One reason is that abstraction is important, a tree becomes named with a symbol and eventually named also as "A" as they'll find in math later on....I like to make the books with colored paper. These work great for drawing the frog, dragonfly, frog, dragonfly and so on.

So...If your sister teaches, your niece, someone you talk to on this site, a favorite person you know, someone you met at the coffeehouse or just it happens you have children in school or want to send a remembrance to a teacher your child had this is a pretty great gift.
If you send it in with your child the year will undoubtedly be a better one. The quality is great and I think what they did was add a bit of white into the pigment to make it a better choice for the darker colors of construction that we so often work on.They feel like all crayolas, full of wonder.

Rich easy-to-use color . I bought these on the recommendation of a friend, for my 18 month old daughter. She has been disinterested in regular crayons because she has trouble pressing hard enough to make a bright, strong mark - and these are perfect for solving that problem. The consistency is similar to pastels. She doesn't need much pressure at all to make richly colored artwork, and she's really enjoying that.

Obviously this product is intended for older children, so be aware that toddlers will need help with the caps, the "twist", and that these are much messier than normal crayons. They are not as washable either. If all that is okay with you (and it is for me - we just cover her up, roll up her sleeves, and put down plenty of paper), they may be great for your toddler as well. That said, I think these are really great for older children and a nice change of pace from crayons or markers.

GREAT crayons but with minimal supervision is required . I have used this product with a 3 yr old girl and we both love it.

Pros: The texture is super smooth. It glides over any paper or cardboard surface with no effort what so ever. The colors are vibrant and creamy and the trace very thick and dense. It is too thick to draw with it, but great for coloring. You can cover a lot of ground with very little effort, specially because you don't have to recolor the same spot twice. The thickness of the pen makes it very easy to manipulate for a toddler. I like the twist off feature (longer durability, easier storage, no need to sharpen). The seal of the cups and the crayon is perfectly calibrated: tight enough that my one year old cannot remove them but easy enough for the 3 year old.

Cons: All the cons probably related to the age of the user. My toddler presses too hard on the paper and there is some minimal crumbing at the tip. Even when used correctly the color takes one minute to settle, so expect a certain amount of it to transfer to skin and cloths, specially sleeves. She constantly drops the crayon open in the floor which results in color transfer. It washes off extremely easy with plain water or a wet wipe from skin, and clothes - still you probably don't want to use the crayons near a clear toned carpet.

In summary, this is not a product for a toddler to use unattended, but with minimal supervision is tons of fun. Highly recommended

Want my $ back! . Not happy with the quality of the Crayola Slick Stix. I bought 2 sets of them and both packages had several broken stix that end up being useless. The white one in both packages were gooey, all cracked and broken. The white one is the whole reason I bought this product. We needed the white stix for a special project and we totally wasted our money ----- very disappointed in this product. Too much plastic in the packaging, the caps are hard to remove, they smear all over the kids hands and sleeves ----- thank goodness, they wash off and hopefully wash out of clothes.

We love these creative crayons! . We LOVE these crayons! I don't think they are the best for little children, but all the older children and adults in our household love them. They are really, as the name implies, Slick! They glide super easy with Intense color; awesome for making posters! One of my adult daughters is buying some now for when her baby gets older, just in case they quit making them. I can hardly find them at stores anymore, so I am very careful with the ones that I already have.

Wonderful for recoloritz and windows/mirrors as well . These are wonderful. I first got the crayons that write on windows, then got Re-Coloritz and these are the same crayons that are used in those products. I got this set to give my 3-5 year olds more colors for their Toy Story Re-Coloritz. It's too bad they don't sell Re-Coloritz anymore because now that I have this set, it makes me want to color them even more! (More color varity!) I highly recommend them for any age over 3!

Amazing! . When they say slick, they mean it. These are the smoothest "crayons" I have ever used. My kids love them. My only concern is that since they go on so easily, they seem like they won't last very long.

My 4-year-old granddaughter would not put them down! . I took these for a weekend visit with my granddaughter, and she loved them. She could take the caps off and put them back. Twisting the color up was easy for her. We did put a plastic sheet on the table top, since she was so excitedly drawing that she went over the edge of her "papers" a few times.

Highly recommended.

These things SUCK!!!! . Don't buy these unless you want to scrub or replace your carpets. "Minimal supervision", yeah right, more like "lay down a tarp". Within seconds my little one had multiple stains in the carpet. Some of them came out after vigorous scrubbing and some professional grade carpet cleaners. Like stated above, these are like lipstick, only in different colors. Bottom line is that these might be okay if you have a teenager, but for anyone below 12 or so, these are asking for a stain on the carpet. Stick to actual crayons or something like the markers that require the special paper.

This Product Stained our Playroom Carpet! . These crayons are very cool. They are like super slick pastels. The children enjoy using them at the easel and they are less of a mess than paints. The colors are bright and fun too. My only complaint is that the red slick stix stained our new berber carpet. I have tried everything to remove it to no avail. I thought crayola made products that were washable. Beware that this is NOT washable..

It's a nice addition to the window markers . We've had our Crayola Window markers for some time and just the other day, while I was at Target, I saw this and grabbed a couple of packages for my son. My son loves to draw/write on his mirrored wall on our basement which serves as whiteboard and giant drawing board. I tested it out before my son came back from school and was surprised to find that the texture was so soft against the mirror. It definitely writes better than the marker and I think it's going to last longer too. It's like the Crayola Twistable Crayons except it's for windows. It cleans the same as the marker does. We use baby wipes as eraser and it gets the glass cleaned. However, if you don't want grime and streaky surface, you have to use window cleaner and paper towel and give it a good clean. The colors on the package is basic blue,green,black, red, and yellow. When I tested on our mirror colors are pretty true except the green is highlighter green and red is actually hot pink shade. I think if I have to choose between Window Marker or Crayon, I'll get the crayon because it'll last much longer.

DO NOT BUY THESE . We received these crayons as a "GIFT". My two daughters loved drawing all over our sliding glass doors. After that it took me at least 45 minutes, three different types of glass cleaner and a whole roll of paper towels to clean the residue off the windows. The crayons also stained the moulding around the windows and left small stains on my kitchen floor from small chips that fell off the crayons. The small chips also stuck to the bottom of my kids feet and were tracked all around the house before I realized what had happened. This may be a great product for outdoor use or on a small area. I wouldn't recommend it for indoor use!

Window Crayons 5-Pack Opinions
don't use windex for goodness sake . These crayons are great fun. It's very easy to clean it off windows afterwards if you use a DRY cloth. People who foolishly apply water or windex to wax (ever heard that they don't mix?) are going to get a big mess. If you use a dry paper towel it comes right off and even leaves your windows cleaner than you found them. We brought them to a party where even grownups had a blast using them and the cleanup was just as easy as it was fun.

Great but use dry cloth to clean. . Many on here have written how hard these are to clean up. If you don't use any cleaner-but instead just use a dry cloth it comes right off! I use them in my classroom and they are great and easy to clean with a little elbow grease!

I use these to showcase certain vocabulary words, concepts, and even draw pictures of topics we are covering in school.

Fun but messy . We have purchased the markers and crayons. The markers clean up well the crayons are quite messy and fun. Be careful when cleaning up as the crayons can get smeared on the window seal and wood trim. It is hard, if at all, to clean the crayon off the wood.

Works well for art . I am a children's programmer (art classes and story hours) at a local public library. I purchased these to use with kids during our many art activities. However, I ended up using them as aids in painting window murals and creating window decorations. I would recommend washing them off with SOAP and WATER before bringing out the window cleaner. Additionally, I found that the Windex multi-surface anti-bacterial spray (yellow in color) tends to cut right through the crayons with no problem. I used them on large panes of glass with metal/painted windowsills. I would recommend tarping the floor beneath the work area just in case, and using painters tape if you have old wood or chipping paint/finish (as you would protect your table if & when your children put their paper down to draw or paint).

They write on very smoothly and have a nice texture. Easy to wash off.

DON'T BUY! BIG MESS! . This is probably the worst kids product I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing for my child. If you are considering purchasing this, just give your child some old Halloween make-up or a tube of lipstick and tell them to have at. The texture is similar to that of a grease pencil. It is easily broken with any amount of pressure, so not only will you end up with gobs of it on your windows, but smears on your child's hands and clothes that doesn't easily come off. The bits that break off will end up on your window sill, window frame, floor and mashed into your child's stocks or shoes.

I love Crayola 8 ct. Washable Window Markers. I figured this might just be a type of crayon that would adhere and wipe away. It was appealing for the colors and the thought that it wouldn't dry out like the markers can. Instead of lasting longer, I threw these away after spending over an hour trying to clean up the mess they made. I had to scrape the windows to get most of it off and then scrub them, rinsing the wash cloth over and over to try to get it off. Also, if the washcloth is any indication, I don't believe this stuff is washable like it is advertised to be.

If I could have given this item zero stars and a giant red warning sign, I would have. Don't make the same mistake I did in purchasing this item.

Cons Review

NOT EASY TO CLEAN . My grandchildren love ART, Drawing & Painting. I thought that writing on a large French door window would be fun. The Grandchildren had fun, but the window crayons are very difficult to clean. It leaves such a residue (especially red and black) on the window that it took a half roll of paper towel and alot of window cleaner to get the window clean. Did I mention that it stains the wood frame on your window or door? I like PAPER better! Much faster clean up.

Lots of Fun! . My son loves drawing all over our sliding glass door with these crayons! They write well and the colors look great! I found that it is best to clean with a degreaser before using window cleaner to remove all the residue. That's the only reason I gave them four stars---the extra step in cleaning. I would definitely buy them again, though.

Wish there were more colors. . We have lots of fun with these crayons. We decorate our windows for every holiday and season. Colors wash of very easily with windex and we've had no problems with stains. It even washed off the walls with ease. I just wish they had a few more colors, particularly white.

Not as pictured! . Crayola now offers markers made from recycled plastic. All markers are black! I purposely ordered these because they were picutred on the site to be the original white plastic with the colored stripes that match the caps. It is very difficult for students to grab the right color (assuming more than one have the caps off). It also makes it difficult to get the caps back on the right marker. Not always does the tip appear to be the color it does on paper. I am disappointed that I received the ones I was trying to avoid getting.

Not a toy..but a craft item.... . Last year I used Crayola Fabric Markers for a VBS, t-shirt, craft project. I tested the fabric makers on an old t-shirt to see how easy they would be to use. Children from 1st grade through 6th grade were coloring in a t-shirt design. I was very pleased with these markers, they were much easier for the kids to use than fabric crayons or fabric paints.

When coloring a design on a t-shirt, the fabric must be kept tight. I put a copy of the design on a magazine, then placed the magazine, with the design on top, inside the t-shirt. (so the design could be seen through the shirt)Then stapled around the design, keeping the shirt tight. I prepared 80 t-shirts in this way.

The colors are bright & don't run. The markers should not be shaken, should be re-capped as soon as possible, and should be stored in a horizontal position.

The design must be heat set which can be done by ironing the back of the design using a back and forth motion for 4 minutes...or...the design can be placed in a dryer, using the hottest setting, for 30 minutes.

I have bleached the sample t-shirt twice, surprisingly the Crayola Fabric Marker design was not affected. It's as bright as the first day I made it.

They certainly do color fabric . We bought a large box just before Halloween in order to color my daughter's costume. She wanted to have rainbow-striped clothing, and we couldn't find what we wanted in a store or online so we spent several hours coloring her outfit.

The markers colored the white fabric well; all the colors were bright and vivid. It dried quickly, and set well when we washed it. The only problem I have with them is that the markers run out pretty quickly. I'm so glad I bought a large box of 100 markers, because if I had just bought a single set, it wouldn't have lasted.

There is enough color to make several smaller designs, I am sure, however.

Recommended for creative art projects.

I have used them for my son's 2nd grade class project, a fundraiser quilt.
The kids loved them and the quilt sold for $1600.

Markers are excellent! . I bought this jumbo box for my baby shower. My guests used them to decorate onesies with. I have washed the onesies over and over daily and the colors are still vibrant and never ran. Highly recommend!

Great for Kid's Party! . I bought this package of Crayola Fabric Markers for our daughter's birthday party. Last year we did tye dye shirts and although everyone loved it, it was very messy and needed a lot of clean up. With the markers, there was the same amount of fun and creativity and almost no clean up. We had 12 kids from ages 6 to 14 and everyone came away with a great shirt and gift to take home to remember the day. We printed up printables for those kids that wanted to color in a picture on a Tshirt. An adult would trace the picture on a shirt and the kids used the markers to color it in. Since the party, my daughter and I have made several more tshirts. Between the party and our crafts we've made over 25 shirts in all. The markers lasted and are still going strong. We are looking forward to more crafts...next we are using the markers to make our very own beach bags.

Great Toy . My 8 years old niece love to work with them. she loves to draw and paint!

Fun by the dozen! . I bought these markers for my 8 year old daughter's birthday party. I had 15 girls color white pillowcases with them. There were plenty of colors and markers for everyone, they were easy to use and not at all messy, and they easily 'set' on the fabric when I put them in the drier on high for 30 minutes. After several washes, the colors are staying as good as new. The girls loved the project. Another plus over permanent markers was that there wasn't any unpleasant chemical odor.

Great Fabric Markers . I bought these markers for my son's birthday party so everyone could decorate their canvas bags. They worked great and it was a great deal at the price I got it for.

Great craft project for all ages . I bought these markers for use in VBS, working with children from age 3-12. We decorated bandannas for our cowboy themed event and the kids had a wonderful time using these markers. They did not run dry or pool. The variety of color was also nice.

Class Pack Fabric Markers . We purchased these for a birthday party our daughter was having. Last year we had a small party and only purchased a couple of small packs of these fabric markers to color pillow cases for the girls to take home as party favors. There weren't enough markers to go around. This year we purchased Halloween tote bags for our daughter's birthday favor and bought these because we had 12 girls and knew we would need many markers! These are great- durable and the colors are bright. We did use the same brand last year and the color holds up very well. Follow the directions- very easy to do- just be sure to cap the markers tightly when finished and put in dryer on high heat for 30 minutes. Obviously not much need to wash the tote bags, but the pillowcase has been washed repeatedly and still looks great. We will use these again in a couple of months for our son's birthday party. They keep the kids entertained and give them something to remember the party by!

good selection fair quality . The idea here is great - a bunch of brushes for not too much money. I bought them to do tempura painting with my two preschoolers. They work fine but a lot of bristles come loose in the paint.

If you want a bunch of brushes for play, these are sure to provide the right size and there's enough for several children.

If you want quality brushes that won't shed bristles in your artwork, these are junk. Of course for fifty cents a brush, you should expect that.

Perfect starter set! . This set of brushes contains a lot of brushes! It is perfect for anyone with children, or buy a few of them for a classroom. I use them to paint decorations on random boxes or mugs (that I put pens in). I am not a professional painter by any means, but the different sizes always make it easier to make little designs or switch between colors without constantly having to wash off the brush. And it isn't just for preschoolers as the name may suggest--they are durable and get the job done! :)

adequate . Very cute looking, but bristles are a little cheap. But, hey, they are for young children so do the job.

Decent but not great brushes . They're ok, but a little like straw and not as easy to use as some of the synthetic ones we've used. Seem fairly durable.

Cons Review

modest quality for modest price . I got this set for my two preschoolers, and it's a hit. The quality isn't high, so you wouldn't get it for a serious artist, but these brushes are cheap and moderately durable, so my two boys can press on them, twist them, and forget to clean them, and the brushes are still alive and kicking, and we don't have to be obsessed with the chance of them falling apart. Great for kiddo artwork.

Great quality . I purchased the teachers pack so I could have the quantity I needed for a class I was teaching. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I needed them to be good so that the students (adults) were pleased with the project and tools I gave them. These Crayola Watercolor Pencils were GREAT. We could color the bird and then brush with a slightly damp brush and voila! it was painted! We also painted the bird first with water and then added the color with the pencils with equally good results. When we sprayed the birds with a gloss varnish the colors really popped and the project was a huge success.

Used for College Level Art class . I needed a large amount of air dry clay and quickly for my Visual Thinking class. Most air-dry artist's clays are extremely expensive and sold in small amounts. I found this on amazon and threw caution to the wind and ordered it hoping it would be good enough for class. For the sake of this review, I will compare this to the air-dry clay Stonex.

This clay takes a little longer to dry, but dries MUCH harder than Stonex (I made a clay ball with the Crayola brand and when it dried I threw it at the door -which I don't recommend anyone else do- and the door now has a dent, the ball unharmed). It also resists flaking and chipping a lot better. I found this much easier to work with than Stonex. Out-of-box, I didn't have to add as much water to get the clay pliable and ready for use. I have not tried it with anything that requires fine details (small details like stems, arms, etc) but will edit this review when I do.

A 25-lb box of this stuff for 20 dollars is a fantastic deal. If you are a teacher wanting to introduce clay sculpting or non-bake ceramics to a class, or a student who needs clay for a class, or even if you just want to try your hand at playing with a water-based clay, I would highly recommend this.

Nice and easy clay for kids . This clay is not for everyone but is really great for kids learning to use the Discovery Pottery Wheel (which I also highly recommend). Air-dry means just that -don't put it in the oven. Vessels should not be used for liquids due to permeability, but the child can make plenty of useful objects with this clay as they learn.

Great idea poor outcome . I use the 25 lbs. crayola air dry clay in my class room, it is great to work with and mold, however when it dries it falls apart. My students create AMAZING pieces of art work, and when they touch them or try to paint them, they crumble or break. I WILL NOT be buying any more of this product.

crayola clay . I liked this clay very much, but was slightly disappointed in how breakable the children's sculptures turned out, only because a friend told me this product was a little better than most air-dry clay. Other than that, it was excellent!

Great paint for active painters . Pros:
- Quality paint, vibrant colors, not thin or transparent
- Washable
- Great price per ounce

Cons:
- Need different containers use paint out of.
- If you buy a bunch of colors, storing the bottles of paint starts to take up space

I was looking for inexpensive paint so my kids could go hog wild painting anytime they wanted without breaking the bank. My girls would burned through typical paint sets in no time. This fit the bill. I bought 10 different colors of Crayola Artista II paint. You get a lot paint for your money with these 16oz jars, but you need to buy something to store the point in that is kid friendly. You're not going to be able to dip you paint brush in these paint containers. If you just squirt some on a palate, then you will end up through a lot of paint away after each painting session. You also lose a lot of paint if you rinse out a single brush between colors. My solution was to buy 10 paint cups and 10 paint brushes one for each color. It works great; my little girls have fun and don't have to worry about running out of paint.

I like the bushes; a lot of brushes with good variety of styles and widths.

WoW . There really is no other tempera paint for me. I use this to paint pictures on my primed walls. It goes on great and is super washable. But mostly, it's the best. This is the thickest white tempera I have ever used. It's not like other temperas where you gotta keep pouring in the white to get your color lighter. It really does the job. It's real quality. NOT fluroescent . I'm not sure of the actual quality of this paint. I was looking for something to use during my Halloween party under the blacklight, and I mistakenly figured that all white paint would glow. (whoever heard of "fluorescent white"? If you're looking to purchase it for a similar reason, save yourself the time, money, and trouble. Otherwise, paint on!

Paint . Paint was used on gym floor to put lines down for games.

Kids enjoyed helping paint the lines and we will take it up when done.

Good paint but cap broke . Good paint: good consistency and opacity. Nice to have such a big bottle of white (especially since sets of paint so seldom come with white). It does smell a bit odd, but not strongly so, and it's not really that unpleasant.
My only beef is that the cap broke (I don't think it broke in shipping; I think I broke it carrying it in my bag), so I can't store the bottle on its side in my daughter's crafts box. I'd complain, but really the flip top is super convenient for being able to quickly dole out more.

high quality good coverage . Okay the only downside is that this paint smells a little funny. However, it is washable (very washable), dark colored, and high quality in my opinion. Love it. Love the larger size so I don't have to be the product police and limit his use of a certain color. Nice price, etc.

pastel . These erasable colored pencils are fun to work with, but their not like regular colored pencils. They are not very smooth when you draw with them, and they tend to skip. Some of the colors are a little more vibrant than others, but they produce pastel colors. They erase fairly well,but the black doesn't seem to come off as easily or completely as the other colors. If you're sketching and you want to erase the black go really light with your lines. The pencils are labeled by color and have their own erasers. There are enough colors in the 24 pack to cover the spectrum of skin tones. They come sharpened and have a nice long point.I use them to practice drawing skills. I bought them because they are erasable, and I wanted to experiment with them. I think they are good for adults and would be good for children.

More like crayons than pencils but they do erase . I am a teacher and bought them primarily so that I could grade papers in color and erase what I wrote if necessary. They produce color and erase cleanly on regular typing paper which is good. However, the feel and consistency of the tips is more like a crayon than a graphite pencil. They are wooden pencils that can be sharpened in a standard sharpener. The "lead" tends to crumble at the ends. When I try to print it is sometimes sticky and sometimes too light. They are pretty good for what they are, they are not intended to be high end artists pencils, and they do erase cleanly.

Invaluable Engineering Tool! . As a geotechnical engineer, I use these pencils to mark up plan sets, color cross sections, edit reports, you name it - they erase well and the many colors make editing plans and sections so much easier. If you're interested in these pencils for their artistic value, walk away, but if you just need colorful & erasable, these are for you.

erasable colored pencils . These pencils were harder to color with than typical colored pencils. They stick to the paper rather than glide across it smoothly - very frustrating for younger artists, which doesn't make sense because it seems as though the "erasables" are targeted at younglings. they do, however, erase well. I returned them.

just ok . My 8 yr old says the eraser part works better than the pencil part. The pencils are very faint and not bright. She has to push really hard to make the colors show but it does a great job of erasing (maybe b/c the pencil colors are faint.) I would not buy this again.

These colored pencils really erase! . My daughter scribbled with these and then expected the usual unsatisfactory erasing job. She was amazed that the erasers really lifted the color! Colors are standard; it is the erasers that make these pencils special!

In the ongoing war for colored pencil supremacy . In the ongoing war for colored pencil supremacy, Crayola is not about to let any competitor muscle in on its dominant position. The company already stocks regular colored pencils of the traditional hexagonal type, and in two lengths The seven inchers they call "long," but that's really the norm -- they now have shorties half the length, called "short," as well. Then there are slims. There are twistables. And now they have these new erasables, although they come off as about 20% crayon and 80% pencil.

On the pro side: They are not traditionally woodcased (hexagonal) in form; they have nice round but not overly large barrels and the names of colors are printed on a white background;
Eraser color is color-coordinated to the color of each pencil.

On the con side: Crayola was so literal with color-on-barrel that I couldn't read the name of the yellow one on the barrel (blame our yellow sun);
The eraser is competent but occasionally a tad crumbly;
Yellow is poorly represented, not even as strong as standard crayons or colored pencils I've used (that darn sun again!);
There's a bit of -- I won't call it tack, but drag -- compared to other colored pencils I've used, though that may be good for kids used to crayons making the transition to colored pencils (Then again, do we as a society need five successive types of color stick between kindergarten and semi-pro?);
-- and --
They cost more.

Now here's a dirty little secret. **Most good pencil erasers (non-latex, the type on a good mass-produced pencil like Dixon Ticonderoga, not the Big Box buck pack) will erase most colored pencil lines or shading most of the time.** These Erasables being special, they are a little more resistant to a regular pencil eraser, but even so let them sit (or is it "set?") overnight and they'll erase easily, too. Col-Erase and (Dixon) Ticonderoga both market "regular" woodcased (six-sided) colored pencils with ferrules and erasers attached if you don't have a no. 2 handy.

As for utility, I'll award Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils about a two, because several trim lines of colored pencils by Crayola (and a bunch of competitors out there) already fill a need for the kid who's bored with crayons and old enough not to poke people in the eye with a pencil.

I thought the sharpener on the back was kind of lame; I don't think there's any metal in it. I e-mailed Crayola's Customer Service Dept. to get a recommendation for a better hand sharpener with replaceable blades and not likely to become encumbered by whatever goes in these Erasables to make them slightly waxy (surely not paraffin wax?). Two days later a nice lady wrote back and recommended the Brass Bullet model by Alvin at around five bucks (replacement blades are available at this site). In fact, hand sharpeners are best for any colored pencils I've known; good electrics will eat that soft lead too quickly and hand-crank models are too rough. Another suggestion: if you wind up saving money after reading this, please invest some in an art-paper pad. Bright white coated twenty-pound 8.5 x 11" paper (i.e., standard office photocopier feed) has poor absorbency and is too thin to be fun. In fact, I use an art pad from Crayola when I want a smaller piece of paper than a standard art pad (Style #99-3404 -- but since it has skunks on the cover and I'm 55, I'm afraid to take it to the café). Crayola rates that pad for ages 3+, and Crayola lists these Erasable Colored Pencils as "off limits" (see ideogram on back of pencil package) for under 3 years -- that's a match.

Two and a half stars rounded up to three because of Crayola's legendary Customer Service Department and because I don't want to get Crayola mad at me.

Cons Review

More like a felt tip marker than a pen..... . I am extremely disappointed with these. They are much more like a felt tip marker than a paint brush. My 3 year old loves to paint and I thought this would make the activity a little less tedious for me since the paint would be all ready to use. Instead, he became bored after a few minutes and said he was done with the markers. I won't be buying them again.

My daughter's Hanukkah is ruined . My sister got these for my daughter for Hanukkah - within 3 days one of the markers was dried out - or has my daughter says broken. My daughter and I were OCD about putting the caps back on after each use. I plan to complain on the crayola website, as well. Thanks Crayola for leaving my daughter very sad and my sister feeling she bought a bad present.
