For the next 30 minutes I sorted and counted the pieces to be sure none were missing. Everything was fine. If the pieces had already been individually packaged in plastic bags, however, a lot of sorting time would have been saved and I would have been spared the wrong initial impression that I had received a returned item. After confirming all of the pieces were there, I reviewed the instructions with my son. The toy is rated 8+ so I got it for my 8 year old son. Though he's a whiz at legos, this was a challenge for him. I'm glad I purchased the item because it gives me a project that I can work on with him. If, however, you plan on being hands-off in the creation of this castle, it might be better to wait until your child is 9 or 10 years of age.
