Entertaining for my 8 yr old . My daughter just received this as a gift and she and a friend are having a lot of fun making beads and stringing them. I would recommend for 8, maybe 7, and older.

It's fun but not durable. . I bought this for my 7-year old daughter. She likes it very much. Even her 11- year old brother wants to use it. It is fun and the beads are cool. Just one problem, the cap of the bead maker keeps falling off.

Exciting but difficult to use . I bought this for my 7 year old niece as a Christmas gift. She was extremely excited when she opened it and insisted that her parents let her use it right away! I should have known that it was going to be difficult to use, however, when they opened it and saw and instructional VIDEO! While the end beads are really neat (vibrant colors and varying shapes), it was really difficult for my niece to do on her own. As long as you are buying it for a child who has an adult who will be willing to help, I think it's a very neat gift. If the child is going to have to use it on his/her own, I would suggest that he/she be older than my 7 year old niece!

Very cool concept lots of fun! . I bought this in an amazon deal not sure what to expect. It is really fun and works perfectly. Even the boys and adults wanted to try it and had fun making the beads. The beads are hard and sturdy, just like you'd want them to be. My 7 year-old can do it without assistance. We will be ordering refills.
Fun Engaging Great For Fine Motor Skills . I purchased this for my 6 year old daughter. She is a little advanced, when it comes to dexterity and fine motor skills, maybe on par with a 7 or even 8 yr old, so I purchased this without hesitation.
I think it is great for fine motor skills at any age. The rolling takes some concentration. The threading is pretty simple, but still, it reinforces working with small things. I watched at my daughter was rolling on the cocktail table, then on her lap, and back to the table. Oh and any bowl or plastic container was a good thing- while having the bead caps on the cocktail table, they either rolled off or she knocked them down before I grabbed a paint cup to place them all in.
Also, the piece with the foil and bead caps, only fits into the shaft one way (we put it in wrong way and thought it was broke because we could not close the door). But the side the bead cap comes on and off on, that side goes closest to the crank handle.
I definitely think a run-through or two are needed for any 7 yr old or even 8 yr old. Advanced 6 yr olds should be fine. Oh, and if the rolling isn't perfect, tell them not to worry- we looked at it as a surprise- not knowing how they would turn out. One we called mint chocolate chip ice cream, because it was silver with swirls of green, which was really neat looking!

Great Toy! . I bought this for my 5 year old daughter. She is unable to fold the foil into thirds properly but can do everything else by herself. Making the beads is easy and fun and the jewelry, although gaudy, is fun to make. She enjoyed this much more than the traditional make your own jewelry kit. Highly recommend.
Love it! . My daughter is 7 and loves this bead maker, after an initial tutorial she is now able to make the beads and necklaces by herself. Awesome price for something that has keep her busy for hours and made some cute little gifts for her to give away.
LOVE! . My 6-year old loves this toy! It is a lot of fun, and encourages her creativity. We haven't had any issues with durability at all, and it's been used so much that we've bought the refill pack. I showed her how to use it for the first time, and from then on she did it on her own. I recommend cutting the foil in half - the foil will last longer that way and the full sheet makes really big beads.
Great jewelry maker . I got this for my daughter for christmas. She is 7 years old and other then the rolling part she can do the rest by herself. She loves it because she can make both the beads and the jewelry. Very durable as well.
Kids love it and it's pretty easy to use. . My mom purchased this for my daughter for Christmas. The video made it look easy enough and it really is. My daughter just turned 6 last month and has made about 10 beads. She does need a little bit of help folding the foil into thirds because she folds it unevenly or gets rough with it and it tears. For me, this is no problem and I'm considering just folding the rest of them up real quick so she doesn't need to run to me everytime she needs to have the foil folded. She also has a little bit of difficulty rolling the foil tight enough around the dowel to where it fits into the bead cruncher thing. With some practice, she's getting better at it. It's also easy enough to do where if she preps the bead and loads it in, her 3 year old brother can crank it to crunch the foil which makes the bead. The toy comes with 72 pieces of foil, which I think should definetly be enough to last through when the novelty of this toy wears off and she moves on to something else. The company also sells refill packs of 72 pieces of foil as well.
