Product Description
A fantastic way to draw and create with no mess. These paint brush pens feature vivid, true color paint right in the brush, so there is no need for jars, water or seperate brushes. The washable paint in the self wicking pens dries instatnly for less smudging. These color changing pens paint in one color, then can be changed to two more colors by using the color changing wand.

great brush pens . well a while back i was looking for a cheaper alternative to buying a namebrand fude type brush pen for practicing my japanese calligraphy.. they are generally [...] for one pen.. NO THANKYOU.. i was able to get this whole set for [...] in a local art store.. they work GREAT.. as a person (and a college student) with LD issues im always looking for ways to make kanji study more fun.. with these pens my japanese writing comes alive.. and the color changingness is great too.. i love this product.. i recomend it to anyone who wants to make writing the kanji more fun.. usually the brush pens sold for calligraphy come in just 1 color (black) but because of this set i can write in all different colors.. my writing comes out looking sooo elegant with this product.. and the fact that they dry so fast is a big plus.. and they dont seep through the page much if at all..
Elmer's Kids Arts and Crafts Paintastics Color Changing Markers Reviews
Color me unimpressed . I'm an art teacher, so I often pick up new and interesting art products to try out. I snagged these for $3 the other day, and almost regret spending the money. Here's why:

Pros:

1. The colors are nice and intese (the blue is a little too intense, almost navy blue.)

2. You can get a nice fine line, or a decent wide one.

3. Good for developing hand control and proper hand position for holding the brush.

Cons:

1. Awkward. These are more like markers or fountain pens than paintbrushes. But you need to squeeze the body of the brush to get the paint to come out of the brush, and it takes a lot of hand strength. Little ones definitely struggle.

2. The package says "No Mess" but my son definitely managed to make a big one. All you have to do is squeeze out a puddle of paint on the paper and you've got a mess. He also pulled the pens apart into component pieces, which also makes a mess.

3. The package also says "INSTANT Drying Paint!" but it's just standard watercolor. I managed to do some simple wet-on-wet painting without having to hurry.

4. The package reads "Not for children under 3," but I'd say not until at least 5, and probably more like 10 to actually appreciate them. At which point why not just use regular watercolors?

5. Washable? Yeah, but make sure you read the fine print on the back: "Launders from most clothing with warm water in one or two washes. For best results on fabrics wash immediately in warm water and detergent. Air dry."

6. Caps are small, roll around and get lost easily.

7. Capping a wet paintbrush does not teach proper brush care.

8. Since when are classic rainbow colors red, yellow, green, blue and black? Last rainbow I saw had red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.

In summary, these are ok for teens or adults to use, but I would definitely not recommend them for kids. Better to just give them a set of magic markers or brush tip pens for the same effect with less mess. For teens/adults, you can get a decent set of watercolor paints (like these Reeves Watercolor Paint Tubes - 12 Color Set) and brushes (like these: Loew Cornell 1018 Brush Set, AP 15-Piece Wood Handle)at AC Moore or any other arts/crafts store for under $10, so why waste your money on this gimmicky junk?
