Nice kit . It is a great kit for beginners. My girls (ages 7 and 4) really liked it and did surprisingly good at sewing. The only complaint I have, and this is the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the paint comes off the plastic mesh pretty easily. After holding the mesh for a while you notice that the paint is on your fingers and of course it becomes hard to see where the colors go.
Overall a good kit for the money. After my daughters finished the ponies I ordered the butterfly and the flower from the same manufacturer. They are so excited to do needlepoint again.

Poor Quality Materials but Easy to Do . My 6 year old daughter received this kit for Christmas and is having fun learning to needlepoint. The holes on the plastic grid are nice and big, so it is easy to work with. I'm having the same problem as the other poster- the paint on the grid rubs off as you work with the kit, making it very very hard to see the image. My daughter is having a hard time knowing which color to put where.
I also had to replace the needle. The kit comes with a plastic needle that works fine for making the stitches, but it has a ball-tip end which makes it absolutely impossible to pull out stitches or end the thread by sliding under old stitches on the back.
It's a good cheap starter kit, but don't expect a lot from it.

Loved it! . My Granddaughter just couldn't wait to try this one out. It got her hooked. I purchased this as a first time try out. She picked up on this quite well. Good for a first timer to see if they liked it. She sure did and now wants to go on to harder ones...
