magic fabric - fun creative play and great value for money . I bought this for my 8 year old and she loves it. iTS really great creative play. She's into all this craft stuff and with this is enjoying creating her own puffy characters for her frineds, book covers, basically her desk is covered witht the stuff she made. Have now been instructed to buy as birthday gifts for her friends! LOL.

Magic Fabric Creation Studio Reviews
Short-term fun but not a great toy. . My kids received this for their 5th birthday. They had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed creating their animals which they also had fun playing with. The problem as others have commented is that it is done in about an hour and then the refills are way to expensive for what it is. I'm sure my kids will play with their creations for awhile so it was a good gift as far as they are concerned but as a parent, I would not purchase it. We have the same amount of fun creating our own "creatures" from random fabric and craft supplies which doesn't require the fairly expensive hunk of plastic, nor the chemicals I'm pretty sure must be in this based on the warnings. I'm not sure who thinks it's a good idea to make a toy that needs so many warnings (don't put it in direct sunlight, keep away from eyes, do not put in mouth, adult supervision of young children recommended, latex may cause allergic reactions, wash hands after use). Makes me a little scared of what's in this fabric.
As a side note, if you have problems with the pieces not sticking together it's because the plastic sheet is still stuck to the back. On our third one we had this problem but because the first two worked I was able to figure out what was wrong.

So now a useless piece of plastic takes up space in my kids room and I can't get rid of it cause grandma bought it-strongly advise not to purchase this, many other toys last much longer and don't require a refill, such as a Mr. potato head which I got at the thrift store for about 4 bucks. They are playing with it as I speak----now is a good time to make this plastic junk hit the recycle bin mwaaahhh hha hahhhaa----

Waste of plastic . Although my kids had fun putting the animals together, the 5 animals it comes with were done within an hour. Then what are you supposed to do with this big honkin' plastic machine?? Can't use it for anything else and the refills are too expensive. I think we'll stick with felt and yarn, thanks. I agree with the previous reviewer that this is complete crap. My goodness, think of all the things we could have bought with the $20 something this cost. Yikes.
Too expensive for only 5 projects . The product is so expensive for only five projects. Also it's difficult to stick the decals on it. You cannot afix them to the figures because they loose all the time. Definitively I do not recommend this toy.
Magic Fabric Refill . OMG. My daughter loved this toy BUT it only took her a short time to use up all the materials and she needed to order a refill kit. So we did. I spent over $10 on a kit that only contained 3 'rocker girls'. I was very shocked and upset I had spent with shipping around $15. It took my daughter about 15 mins to use up all of the refill pack. She was thrilled but I vowed no more refills!
Cons Review
Fun for a 6 year old . My daughter loved this and it was easy enough for her to use by herself. It is limited in the fact that you can only make 3 projects, but it cost only $8. There are refills available and I purchased one after knowing my daughter really enjoyed playing with this and creating puffy figures.
Not worth purchasing . My child received Magic fabric as a gift. The product has a strong chemical smell and the product is too difficult to push in the fabric machine without another person holding down the machine which makes it not user friendly for younger children who lack upper body strength. Plus, the projects (5 total) are completed in and a short time.
Worth it on sale... . My daughter who is 6, received this for Christmas last week and she loves it! She received the maker and an addtl set. She created all of the figures in probably an hour. Now its been in the box since. We bought her some addtl sets for Christmas but she doesnt know that yet, so I know she will use it again. But the refills are expensive for such short lived fun. She did give a few away to friends at school so I guess that was fun as well. The person who purchased this for her bought it for 20 bucks at toysrus because it was the same price here at amazon. Now its on sale for half, but too bad.
Lots of fun but the refills are ridiculously priced . My daughter received this as an 8th birthday present from a friend. It was absolutely her favorite gift. She loves all things crafty and the little characters are very cute. I made her stretch the kit out, I think it made 5 animals, and only let her do a few here and there. She still finished them within a few days, but she did love those little characters, and well over a year later they are still intact. She played with them a lot for a month or so, so it was probably worth the money. I keep checking the price of the refill kits, because it was so much fun for her, but I cannot pay $9 for 3 characters that are about 1-2 inches tall and 1/4 wide. It is absolutely insane! Last time I was at Walmart they did not even carry any of the kits, so I was thinking maybe they were on their way "out" everywhere, but still pricey here. Sigh!
