Great craft to build with your kid but fundamental flaw. . My 4 year old daughter had a blast making this house. We've mounted it and she is impatiently waiting for a bird to nest. It assembled easy enough and was really fun. My problem is with the design. Once assembled, it's completely sealed save for the tiny hole. There is no way to remove the nest once the birds are done. Nest removal and cleaning is essential for keeping birdhouses so there are no parasites lingering for the next nesting couple.

bird houses . Very cute when completed. I bought this for my grandson who received his very own tool box for Christmas. This was his first project. Went together well but the nails were a little short so his dad provided some that were alittle longer. My grandson (age 7) assembled this entirely on his own and can't wait for a bird family to move in this spring.

Log Bird House . This was a nice birdhouse for my grandson who is 7. He will be painting it. We found gluing rather than nailing is the best construction move. The house is small but fun for young children to build.

What I wish I knew before purchasing this kit... . I bought this and several other kits by the same manufacturer for my 11 and 12 year old to build. They are "experienced" bird house builders so these kits really appealed. My first mistake was not paying close enough attention to the shipping coasts- for $45 dollars worth of kits, I paid an unbelievable $32 in shipping. The quality of the kits at first glance seemed fine, but once we began to build we could easily see that the "new and improved" predrilled holes were inaccurate. The nails as well, were too short to go all the way through the wood and "bite into" the second piece of wood. Many of the nails had burrs on the end leaving them square tipped and blunt rendering them rather useless. My 12 year old completed hers only to pick it up and have it completely fall apart in her hands. I contacted the seller only to have them inform me that their return policy states they cannot take back open products. Still stinging from the outrageous shipping costs I was unwilling to pay more to return my unopened kits. I went out and bought new nails to complete the remaining kits we purchased but overall, poor quality and poor customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
What a let down!! . I bought several of these for our wolf den to do for their book requirements. The pieces were not cut correctly didn't go together well at all. The boys were disappointed to say the least. We had to get another product for them to do to make them feel like the accomplished something. DO NOT GET!
