5 year old LOVES this! . Our daughter wanted a nutcracker for Christmas, so we bought her this! She loved being able to paint it herself. It took several days (Ok, I stretched it out a bit, I admit it!) for her to be done. The first coat of paint went on nicely. Good paint does not need several coats. Then the next day, she got to paint details. Third day she got to add glitter paint, gems, and hair. It was so much fun to watch her as she begged to do it. The paint dries within an hour, so you could do it faster if you wanted.
Adding this to future christmas list for other kids.

A lot of fun my son loves his toy! . My son's birthday is on Christmas day (he is 5 y.o.) and every year I have to select number of very special gifts for him to celebrate both important events. Few months ago he asked me about Nutcracker toy, I was travelling to Germany then and saw one large nutcracker for 10 Euros, but the wood and construction quality were so poor that it would be proken within a day and the little boy would be very unhappy - it was sort of nutcracker you could out on the self but not use as a toy. Just 2 weeks before his birthday I came across this toy on Amazon and ordered it. It was a real hit when he unwrapped his Christmas/birthday presents on Christmas morning! All other toys were set aside, and the most excietement was that we had to paint the Nutcracker ourselves!! I have to admit, I was almost more excited than my sone and we did the job even before having our breakfast so anxious we were! :) Paints are very nice quality, they dry very quickly, have no chemical smell and are amsolutely safe. My son keeps sleeping with his Nutcracker and playting with it for a month already and it still is like new. Very, very happy with our purchase!
