Great Gift for Year after Year . My daughter received a scratch art kit last year and she truly enjoyed it. Although it has no real "educational" value it allows any level of "artist" the flexibility to be creative. Even just a simple line or doodle looks majical after making the mark. I am again buying a kit for my daughter's birthday and an extra to save as a birthday gift to have on hand for the next birthday party we're invited too! You will NOT be dissappointed.

better for the under 10 crowd . I recall enjoying this project as a child in school. My sister gave this item to my daughter for her birthday last week. She loved it. It is a bit different from the cheapos at the dollar tree (refer to last review). This comes with a variety of colorful envelopes, that the paper actually fits into when folded. The scratch off paper comes in different colors (beneath the black scratch off stuff too). There is gold, silver, flourescent, and rainbow. My Daughter just loved picking thru the colors and selecting a particular one for her creation. She also used the simple stencils that came with it. It was easy for her to use, it was a "blank canvas" for her to be creative, and we mailed the suckers away when she was done with them (so they aren't cluttering up my house :). She enjoyed sending mail to her friends, and there is a social studies aspect to these, and the educational value of learning how to address and send a letter. Also, fine motor skills and creativity.

Scratch=Art Kit . Why do parents think all toys must be educational? My daughter loves this. I bought it for her artistic ability. She loves to draw, I love to teach her to draw, and this scratch art is a childs way to express themselves. Besides learning, there is also FUN, and art is an important element in our lives. Buy it, if they love to draw, then they will enjoy this.

nice but overpriced . my 5 year old daughter loved it, but it last 3 days in her hands, let's face it, this is too expensive for a set of 25 sheets of paper. From the previous reviews I thought that there would be more to it than just paper, but there isn't. Again, it's nice, but it's just paper, I would rather put my money in something she could use more.

Great for kids of all ages! . My grandkids love this product. I bought several for the kids ranging in ages from 8 through 16 and they all love it.

A Simple Recyclable and Fun Way to be Creative! . I am so glad that I stocked up on two of these! The kit is generously stocked with a variety of play-doh colors and crafting implements, and the canister is reusable as a storage container. I love that the set provides the materials, but that children must use their own creativity to develop the activity in a fun and imaginative way. I guess that's the "retro" part of it -- so many other crafting games overly structure children's play experiences (e.g., providing a Dora the Explorer backdrop to accompany tubs of play-doh). This item allows the child to drive the learning and exploration! Sometimes, a simple, traditional toy is the most "educational" of all!

Fun in a can! . This can of Play-Doh was a great hit with my 7 year old on Christmas. He is still playing with it almost every day. Lots of dough and lots of tools to go along with it. The can is much bigger than I expected and everything fits nicely back into it when done playing.

Great Play Doh toy . This is really cute. We loved the retro canister. The set includes all the basics that your little one needs to make some awesome creations. The canister can be a bit tricky for little ones to open which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how independant you want your child to be.

The canister set makes a great gift just because the packaging is unique with that retro feel that is popular.

Play-Doh at Its Best . The children loved this canister full of tools and Play-Doh from the momement they opened it. The tools are sturdy, the play-doh was generous and the fun has ended. A constant form of entertainment for them.

Fun never stops! . Was shockingly surprised by the size of this container. Maybe I didn't pay close attention to the sizing on it when I ordered but it was huge. I can't believe I got so much stuff for such a good price. My sons eyes lite up when he saw it. He loves it.

I love all of Alex's Little Hands toys . I love doing crafty activities with my kids but it ends up really messy after they work with scissors and every thing else. Alex has put together these projects very effectively because the kids can skip the complicated stuff and go right to being creative. I never run out of these because they are great for when my daughter's friends come over. They stay occupied for at least an hour and end up feeling super proud of themselves.

Another great "kit" set from Alex . So far my favorite Alex kit is the bug set, but this comes in second.
The pros and cons are below.

PROS
-each kit is individually wrapped with the needed items in it, so you just grab one of the six and you're good to go, no sorting out the different pieces (a big deal if you have an impatient toddler)
-no glue is necessary, all parts are either stickers or use the bendy pipe cleaners to secure items
-creatures are very cute
-fine motor skills not necessary, these are easy enough for 3 year olds and up to manage.
-simple instructions (visual not text) that even my four year old can understand
-cardboard backing is very sturdy
-bright colors and interesting textures

CONS:
-the sticker sheet has rather small stickers to pull off, and they tear easy. An adult needs to hand the stickers to the kid.
-the stickers aren't repositional, which would be helpful in some cases
-these sets are a bit simpler than Alex's critter/bug set, so they only take about 10 minutes tops per kit. Possibly great for distracted kids.

All in all, these are a great way to entertain a child without needing scissors or glue-minimal mess! Beats playdough!

Fun craft kit for kids . My 3 1/2 year old son received this craft kit for Christmas. I love that everything we needed to complete this craft was included in the box. The "Loopy friends" are 6 different sea creatures - a fish, seahorse, jellyfish, turtle, crab, and an octopus. Each one is packaged in its own bag with the "loops" that you will need. There is one sheet of stickers and illustrated instructions to show you how to make each sea creature.My son was able to assemble these almost completely on his own once I showed him what to do. He did need help with attaching pieces (for example, the crab has glasses that attach to the top of his body).The pieces themselves are very sturdy. When I read "paper pieces" I was expecting something flimsy. Instead, they are very colorful, sturdy cardboard. The chenille stems (the "loops") are varied in size, texture and color for each sea creature. The projects don't last long, but they are perfect for a quick project and short attention spans. I do wish they had included more stickers. My kids tend to over-sticker their projects and it would have been nice if there wasn't a fear of running out before we completed all 6.Overall though this is a great craft kit that kids will enjoy.

Perfect! . I bought this decal as a way to measure my daughter's height but decided it was a better mural just as is. My daughter loves to look it and points to it and says 'bell'. She is 16 months old I have since moved and it peeled off with no issues. I used the backing it came on to transport it. It is in her new room and still looks great a year later. It can be a bit frustrating to get the two panels lined up but once it's up it is perfect.

easy to use good results! . This is a really cool product. I mixed together a few of the colors to make green, purple, and pink, giving me a total of 6 colors to play with. If you add a little water to them, the color won't be quite so intense, and you get much more dye out of the pack. The paint dries super fast and after a quick trip in the dryer, you're all done. it was a very clean, very simple, and very fun project.

you get what you pay for . My lady is doing a little tie dye project for her fellow bridesmaids and asked me to buy her a tie dye kit. i bought this one. it was really easy to use and made far less of a mess than your conventional tie dye kit, but don't even think about being able to use this kit for 15 shirts like it advertises on the package. it could do that if you wanted to use a few squirts per shirt but trust me, if you want the color of the typical tie dye shirt you'll need to use half to a full bottle of this stuff to achieve it. then again, if you only want to do a shirt or two or a pair of socks or something this stuff worked great! harder to get the spiral and other patterns though... since this is a dry kit and those designs work best cause the dye runs with water.

Easiest & neatest set we've used . We've purchased several SEI tie-dye kits since we tried out the first one and fell in love with them. They are so easy to use. There is no mixing involved. You don't need buckets. You simply tie up your shirts and spray them. The pump is similar to a hair spray pump so it may be a little difficult for younger kids. My 5 yo can do it with a little assistance.
The shirts come out great if you wet them before putting on the rubber bands. LET THEM DRY COMPLETELY before removing the rubber bands. Then you simply throw them in the dryer and they are ready to wear. Even after a few washes the colors are still vibrant.
If you are looking for the quickest, easiest and cleanest method of tie dying I highly recommend this product. I'd suggest using rubber gloves and spraying the shirts on a piece of cardboard and letting them dry there (or in a plastic bag). That way there is little to no clean up. You can make a few shirts (and clean up after them) in just a few minutes.

Disappointed . I bought two packs of primary and two packs of girls colors (total of 12 bottles). We did 6 KID SIZE shirts and 6 pillowcases. While the colors did indeed stay very intense, they did not "bleed through" and saturate the shirts and pillowcases, but left only the surface we sprayed full of die. When we cut the bands off, the rest of the shirts were white. Same with the pillowcases. They dried quickly and sure enough, throw them in the dryer and your done, but the fact that we have "half" dyed shirts and pillowcases leaves a lot to be desired. Especially since we should have been able to do a LOT more based on the claims of the makers.

Easy to use wish it comes in more colors. . This is the first time I dye my own garment. I want a pair of canvas shoes in red, yellow, blue and black. But the store only sells the shoes in tan. I read into dying methods, boiling hot water, rubber gloves...those all sound too complicated to me, and I was afraid that I would dye more than just the shoes. Also wasn't shoes if the rubber sole would get dyed as well. Anyway, I went to a craft store and saw the SEI Tie Dye Tumble-Dye. Although the bottles are spray bottles, I read that I could just use them as paint.

So I got them, got home, and use a paint brush to dip into the dye and paint my shoes away. I did the red pair first and the paint was thick enough to cover the original tan color. The yellow came out to be a bit mustard, but I still like them. I ran out of shoes, so I have to get more pairs to do the blue, and I am thinking about purple and black too. Although I don't know how I can do black as I didn't want to mix the dye and it seems that it doesn't come in black dye alone.

Anyway, after I painted the shoes, I let them air dry for a couple of hours, and then I put them in the dryer on high heat for 20 mins as instructed. I like how they come out. I have not wore them in the rain though, so not sure if the color would run. But then who wore canvas shoes in rain, right?

Overall, I give this product a 5 because of the ease of use and the colors are nice.

Cons Review

Total waste of money . Hard to use, spray bottles don't work oh and by the way when you wash your shirt all the die comes out. I bought the kit for a birthday party for my kids and their friends. The spray bottles don't put out when they are pumped. We followed the instructions exactly! When we washed the shirts all the die was gone, 8 white tshirts with touches of color, I have better coloring of shirts when I accidentally washed a chapstick. Just to let you know I am not a rookie at this I am in my forties and have been to 39 G'Dead shows. Waste waste waste of money,box says it does 18 shirts, sure if you put one pump on each shirt, but remember it washes away anyways.

Great logic puzzle book for older elementary or early middle school . My 11 year old loves these puzzle books. We started at the level B book and worked our way through to this one. Lots of fun and requires kids (or adults) to use their logic and math skills. Definitely more fun for most kids age 10-14 than word searches and many of the other puzzle books especially if your kid likes math.

Needs to be more durable . These stamps looked great on the website, unfortunately when my first graders put any type of force on the stamps when pushing into the stamp pad, the red stamp holders are hollow and they crack. My students have used them for 3 weeks, 4 to 6 letters of each set is cracked. Home use is probably ok, but not for classroom use.
