Okay for $4 . Not bad for $4. It does what my daughter was looking to do. Lets her pretend to make us toast, bagels & waffle. She is 4 and with her imagination it is great. It is one of those toys I wouldn't pick out for her or think expect it to be good but turns out she chose it & I was surprised with her satisfaction.

Cons Review
Junk . The toaster is very small and the food doesn't look like it does in the pictures. Looks more like cut out foam, this picture is very deceiving. Nothing but junk.
wouldn't recommend . I gave it 2 stars because my daughter does play with it a litte, however, there are many toys she enjoys more. First, you have to wet the sponge in the toaster every time they want to play with it, so unless you keep your toy box in the kitchen that's not real convenient. Then the 'toast' gets stuck and you have to help them push it down to push it back up, a 4+ year old could probably get the hang of it but it gets such limited playtime we'll probably soon just lose all the pieces to the bottom of the toy box forever. The little knife was gone minutes after opening it, if you do get this - may want to have a bag handy when she opens it to store everything together. One thing my daughter did say was, well there's only one plate so my dollies are just going to have to share - I guess teaching sharing is good :)
ehh . I thought I got a great deal on this toaster-but once it came I realized it was probably worth what I paid for it. Seems like a toy that would be bought at a discount store - not a target ect. IT is very small, and the food looks just awful very very thin plastic and super tiny. It may get donated instead of gifting it as planned.
Worth the discounted price! . I must begin this review by telling you that if I paid FULL price for this item, I would be upset, however, I did not. I paid a deeply discounted price. It WAS worth the $[...] I paid for it. The almost 3 year old I gave it to plays with it daily and it is really no big deal to wet the sponge. It was a little tricky for her to figure out how to push the lever to make the waffle/toast/bagel pop up, but she followed directions and learned from it. She was absolutely FASCINATED by the color changing affect!!

Ugh - frustrating . The toy was inexpensive, so I have to consider that when I write this. We were looking for a toaster, and although I should have stuck with a simple toy one without the bells and whistles, I was drawn to the marketing of this one. It is fun, when it works, to see the butter, jelly and other sauces, etc. appear on the bagel, waffle and toast, but the items are DIFFICULT to push in and pull out of the toaster, and you constantly have to keep refilling the sponge with water. My daughter doesn't use the toaster anymore, just the food items, which she occasionally dips in her sink to make the colors appear, and soon, those stickers will probably peel off. I would recommend getting the straight-forwarded play toaster instead of this one or you will be asked constantly to help refill the sponge and help retrieve stuck pastry items. I am looking for the plain toaster now and will donate this one.
Daughter Loves This! . She didn't even ask for it (I just scooped it up on sale), but she danced around when she opened it and said she really, really wanted it, lol. She loves playing in her kitchen so this was the perfect appliance to add to the fun! She wanted to open it right away and test it out (before finishing opening her presents), she just loved it that much. She continues to play with it on a daily basis and thinks the way it changes the food is a lot of fun and a lot like mommy's big toaster.
too tough for kids . I thought this would be a great addition to our kitchen playset. But it is total junk. My 3 year old can't push down the handle and once down can't get it to pop up. I have a hard time making it work. Not even worth the super discounted price I paid.
Magic toaster . This toaster is not worth any more than $4 or $5 dollars. It is small but fits nice on the counter of my daughters play kitchen. it is not the easiest toaster to use. You need to wet the sponge with water everytime you use it and you need to help push the food into the toaster, you can not simply put the food in the slot and push down the handle. Also the stickers that change color seem to be peeling off already
Great toy if you buy it on sale! . I, too, got this toy during a major sale. Since I paid so little for it, I think it was worth it. My 4 year old loves to see the jelly/butter appear on the food. She has a little bit of a hard time pushing the lever up to get the food back out because it tends to get stuck. You do have to wet the sponge every time you play with it, but my daughter can do it herself without making a huge mess. I gave it 3 stars because my daughter likes it and it was worth the price I paid. It is NOT worth it to pay full price!
