I love all of Alex's Little Hands toys . I love doing crafty activities with my kids but it ends up really messy after they work with scissors and every thing else. Alex has put together these projects very effectively because the kids can skip the complicated stuff and go right to being creative. I never run out of these because they are great for when my daughter's friends come over. They stay occupied for at least an hour and end up feeling super proud of themselves.

Another great "kit" set from Alex . So far my favorite Alex kit is the bug set, but this comes in second.
The pros and cons are below.

PROS
-each kit is individually wrapped with the needed items in it, so you just grab one of the six and you're good to go, no sorting out the different pieces (a big deal if you have an impatient toddler)
-no glue is necessary, all parts are either stickers or use the bendy pipe cleaners to secure items
-creatures are very cute
-fine motor skills not necessary, these are easy enough for 3 year olds and up to manage.
-simple instructions (visual not text) that even my four year old can understand
-cardboard backing is very sturdy
-bright colors and interesting textures

CONS:
-the sticker sheet has rather small stickers to pull off, and they tear easy. An adult needs to hand the stickers to the kid.
-the stickers aren't repositional, which would be helpful in some cases
-these sets are a bit simpler than Alex's critter/bug set, so they only take about 10 minutes tops per kit. Possibly great for distracted kids.

All in all, these are a great way to entertain a child without needing scissors or glue-minimal mess! Beats playdough!

Fun craft kit for kids . My 3 1/2 year old son received this craft kit for Christmas. I love that everything we needed to complete this craft was included in the box. The "Loopy friends" are 6 different sea creatures - a fish, seahorse, jellyfish, turtle, crab, and an octopus. Each one is packaged in its own bag with the "loops" that you will need. There is one sheet of stickers and illustrated instructions to show you how to make each sea creature.My son was able to assemble these almost completely on his own once I showed him what to do. He did need help with attaching pieces (for example, the crab has glasses that attach to the top of his body).The pieces themselves are very sturdy. When I read "paper pieces" I was expecting something flimsy. Instead, they are very colorful, sturdy cardboard. The chenille stems (the "loops") are varied in size, texture and color for each sea creature. The projects don't last long, but they are perfect for a quick project and short attention spans. I do wish they had included more stickers. My kids tend to over-sticker their projects and it would have been nice if there wasn't a fear of running out before we completed all 6.Overall though this is a great craft kit that kids will enjoy.

Perfect! . I bought this decal as a way to measure my daughter's height but decided it was a better mural just as is. My daughter loves to look it and points to it and says 'bell'. She is 16 months old I have since moved and it peeled off with no issues. I used the backing it came on to transport it. It is in her new room and still looks great a year later. It can be a bit frustrating to get the two panels lined up but once it's up it is perfect.

easy to use good results! . This is a really cool product. I mixed together a few of the colors to make green, purple, and pink, giving me a total of 6 colors to play with. If you add a little water to them, the color won't be quite so intense, and you get much more dye out of the pack. The paint dries super fast and after a quick trip in the dryer, you're all done. it was a very clean, very simple, and very fun project.

you get what you pay for . My lady is doing a little tie dye project for her fellow bridesmaids and asked me to buy her a tie dye kit. i bought this one. it was really easy to use and made far less of a mess than your conventional tie dye kit, but don't even think about being able to use this kit for 15 shirts like it advertises on the package. it could do that if you wanted to use a few squirts per shirt but trust me, if you want the color of the typical tie dye shirt you'll need to use half to a full bottle of this stuff to achieve it. then again, if you only want to do a shirt or two or a pair of socks or something this stuff worked great! harder to get the spiral and other patterns though... since this is a dry kit and those designs work best cause the dye runs with water.

Easiest & neatest set we've used . We've purchased several SEI tie-dye kits since we tried out the first one and fell in love with them. They are so easy to use. There is no mixing involved. You don't need buckets. You simply tie up your shirts and spray them. The pump is similar to a hair spray pump so it may be a little difficult for younger kids. My 5 yo can do it with a little assistance.
The shirts come out great if you wet them before putting on the rubber bands. LET THEM DRY COMPLETELY before removing the rubber bands. Then you simply throw them in the dryer and they are ready to wear. Even after a few washes the colors are still vibrant.
If you are looking for the quickest, easiest and cleanest method of tie dying I highly recommend this product. I'd suggest using rubber gloves and spraying the shirts on a piece of cardboard and letting them dry there (or in a plastic bag). That way there is little to no clean up. You can make a few shirts (and clean up after them) in just a few minutes.

Disappointed . I bought two packs of primary and two packs of girls colors (total of 12 bottles). We did 6 KID SIZE shirts and 6 pillowcases. While the colors did indeed stay very intense, they did not "bleed through" and saturate the shirts and pillowcases, but left only the surface we sprayed full of die. When we cut the bands off, the rest of the shirts were white. Same with the pillowcases. They dried quickly and sure enough, throw them in the dryer and your done, but the fact that we have "half" dyed shirts and pillowcases leaves a lot to be desired. Especially since we should have been able to do a LOT more based on the claims of the makers.

Easy to use wish it comes in more colors. . This is the first time I dye my own garment. I want a pair of canvas shoes in red, yellow, blue and black. But the store only sells the shoes in tan. I read into dying methods, boiling hot water, rubber gloves...those all sound too complicated to me, and I was afraid that I would dye more than just the shoes. Also wasn't shoes if the rubber sole would get dyed as well. Anyway, I went to a craft store and saw the SEI Tie Dye Tumble-Dye. Although the bottles are spray bottles, I read that I could just use them as paint.

So I got them, got home, and use a paint brush to dip into the dye and paint my shoes away. I did the red pair first and the paint was thick enough to cover the original tan color. The yellow came out to be a bit mustard, but I still like them. I ran out of shoes, so I have to get more pairs to do the blue, and I am thinking about purple and black too. Although I don't know how I can do black as I didn't want to mix the dye and it seems that it doesn't come in black dye alone.

Anyway, after I painted the shoes, I let them air dry for a couple of hours, and then I put them in the dryer on high heat for 20 mins as instructed. I like how they come out. I have not wore them in the rain though, so not sure if the color would run. But then who wore canvas shoes in rain, right?

Overall, I give this product a 5 because of the ease of use and the colors are nice.

Cons Review

Total waste of money . Hard to use, spray bottles don't work oh and by the way when you wash your shirt all the die comes out. I bought the kit for a birthday party for my kids and their friends. The spray bottles don't put out when they are pumped. We followed the instructions exactly! When we washed the shirts all the die was gone, 8 white tshirts with touches of color, I have better coloring of shirts when I accidentally washed a chapstick. Just to let you know I am not a rookie at this I am in my forties and have been to 39 G'Dead shows. Waste waste waste of money,box says it does 18 shirts, sure if you put one pump on each shirt, but remember it washes away anyways.

Lots of fun and requires kids (or adults) to use their logic and math skills. These stamps looked great on the website, unfortunately when my first graders put any type of force on the stamps when pushing into the stamp pad, the red stamp holders are hollow and they crack. My students have used them for 3 weeks, 4 to 6 letters of each set is cracked. Home use is probably ok, but not for classroom use.

The directions also said to be careful that the colors might run! I bought it because of the "Crayola" name, but was not happy. crayola color . got this for my 7 year old daughter. it was easy to set up and once i showed her she was able to play with it on her own. the way it works is that the paper sheets have color blotches underneath a black coating. the pens erase the coating and the color shows through. I gave it 2 stars becuase even though it was fun at first making the different designs it was short lived. after about 7 or 8 sheets the ink in both pens started run dry. by the 10th sheet it really wasn't working so well. by the time she was done the ink pens (came with two) had pretty much run dry and she was left with extra paper. i would not recommend this product.

Crayola Color Explosion Designer . I bought this toy for my 9 yr. old Grandaughter, and she loves it. She is always playing with. And it allows her to use her imagination and be creative.

Okay markers run out very fast . So, this product was fun at first, until the markers ran out during my first design. Despite using the cleaner thing, niether of the markers work very well. However, it would be fine with regular paper and regular pencils/markers/etc.

My Kids Love It! Mess-Free Fun!! . My kid loves this product. He'd been asking for it for awhile and we finally got it. It's very easy to use, especially for kids who need to work on motor skills. Each "color" vile that you attach to the sprayer is a clear liquid. However, when you spray it on the special Color Wonder paper, the color appears. So, it's really not messy if the kids miss the paper. No smell problems either. Don't confuse this product with a REAL airbrush, since the treated color wonder paper and the toy sprayer limit the amount of art you can really do. But, it works GREAT on the special coloring books designed for Color Wonder. The stencils are fun too and add significantly to the creative part of the kit. You also may not need to use as much "ink" as you think you do. The colors seem to darken as they liquid dries. Also the refills are a bit pricey, but not too bad and the ink seems to last for awhile. Overall, I give this high marks. Just remember this is a kid's toy and not a serious artistic toolkit.

Wash-out . This gizmo is fun for about 6 minutes and 20 seconds, not including set-up time. It's okay to a point once you're using the coloring pages or stencils supplied, but doesn't encourage self-expression or creativity.

Pros:
1. No mess, other than the occasional splatter of white stuff, which is easy to clean up.
2. Sprayer makes a professional sounding noise
3. Includes three stencils, with interesting patterns
4. Easy to set up
5. Includes everything you need except batteries


Cons:
1. It uses FOUR "C" batteries (not included)
2. The colors only work on Crayola special paper.
3. The colors are pale, washed out looking tints of the colors they claim to be
4. The colors don't show up immediately, and as a result, kids tend to spray the same area over and over again, causing a wet spot
5. The coloring pages are specially created so that the paint only sticks to specific areas, thereby guaranteeing a good finish. Similarly, the stencils only let through the paint in the right places. Kids can draw their own images using the markers and crayon, but it's impossible to keep the spray within the lines, resulting in major frustration for kids who want to express themselves beyond the coloring pages and stencils.

Recommended only for short term entertainment, when you don't feel like cleaning up afterwards. Not for creative kids.

New Crayola® Color Wonder™ Sprayer Opinions
Not Quite As Cool as the Box Shows . The Color Wonder Sprayer is easy to set up and use. However, the colors are very dull and take a long time to develop on the paper. Also, the sprayer sprays very broad strokes of color so it is impossible to create any specific detail on a picture. It works best for painting one page half one color and half another color. A little boring for long term use and not very creative.

Children lost interest immediately! . We just opened this gift -- it looks like fun -- but wow -- how lame! The sprayer takes forever to show up on the paper. The kids sprayed and sprayed and then you have to sit and wait for the color to appear. The markers work much better and are almost instant. This is very boring. They tried it and then switched to tracing the stencils with the regular markers. What a lot of equipment/batteries/expense for what was ultimately markers and paper.

Junk . My daughter got this for Christmas and she loved it. She is very artsy, and I really thought this would be cool. But first of all, it does take forever to show up on the paper. The markers are much better. But what makes the toy junk is that it stopped working in less than a month. It still makes the spraying sounds, but nothing comes out. We were very good to clean out the nozzle between each use but it still crapped out. What a waste of money!!!

Some limiting factors can affect enjoyment of this toy . We are huge fans of Color Wonder. One thing I love about Color Wonder is that the items are mix and match. Luckily, we have several other colors of color wonder markers, several pads and coloring books, finger paints, and additional stencils which made this a better toy than what's included.

First, although this is "mess-free" it's really not 100% mess free. When using this toy you'll want to have a towel ready to wipe the stencils off because it will spray on the stencil as well as the paper.

My biggest complaint with this toy is that the 3 stencil sheets included don't work too well with an airbrush. You'll unfortunately end up stenciling nearby designs creating quite a mess on the paper. A set of individual stencils with wide borders might have pushed this up a star and made all the difference.

The only two markers included are yellow and black. I think Crayola, the company of many colors, should have included at least 4 markers. Luckily I had several more Color Wonder markers on hand so our creative juices were not stinted.

Considering the price of this toy, I would have expected more than one pad of 30 sheets. Two pads would have been great.

The batteries installed easily, it takes 4 size "C" batteries, which are not included. Luckily I had a pack of 6 on hand I had picked up at the dollar store to have on hand for occasions like this.

Overall, I think the toy is well-designed. It's fun to use but the accessories were a disappointment, most notably the stencils.

Creative children might just enjoy the regular color wonder pads and markers by themselves.

Cons Review

So if its Bright Colors youre lookin' for.... . I have been reading several reviews for the spray-type coloring toys. And it seems most are just disappointed in the bright colors, and the refills and buying refills. Well, I would give a suggestion that I read from another reviewer(would give credit if I could remember her name). Though here it is:
These couple of items should be in your kitchen cupboard, or buy them for less than five bucks:
1) Food Coloring.
2) Corn Starch.
3) Water.

First> Mix 50% Water to 50 % Cornstarch.
Then > Drop several drops of a food coloring into the mixing bottle(Would probably use a lot of coloring to get a bright color)
Shake> The bottle to mix thoroughly.
Pour > The colored mix into the sprayer, and there you go.

Clean : remember to clean well and to mix the ingredients or else it will get clogged up very easily.

young kids can create pretty art work . The kids played with it for hours, and the resulting pictures are really nice. The kids loved it.

Really Fun . I bought this for my 7 year old son, and he really enjoys it. I do however wish that it came with more color for the sprayers and more paper. He ran out of both very quickly.

Doesn't hold their attention . We've had this toy for awhile. Neat concept, but it's only good as a rainy day toy. Keep it hidden until the kids are deathly bored and bring it out. They get a kick out of it for an hour and then it's back in the box. Leave it out, and the kids never want to play with it. Bring it out once in a while and it's a hit.

It's easy to set up. My 5 and 7 year olds can do it without help. The kids like the special paper it comes with. They spray blank pages all over and pictures pop out like magic. Once that runs out, I just let them play with the standard Color Wonder refill paper. They use the stencils to create scenes and color them up with the Color Wonder markers.

The spray lasts a long time. We haven't had to replace it yet after quite a few uses.

I think the kids would like this sprayer better if the colors would come out more quickly when they spray, but this is a problem with all Color Wonder products. It's the lag time that kills the fun. It's sometimes hard to know if the sprayer is working or where we've sprayed. We have to wait to see if we see any colors. Despite that, this toy still has a life at this house.
