FINGER CRAYONS . I use these crayons as whole hand crayons with kids who have trouble with grasp. They have good color, are easy to mark with. I wish they weren't hollow because they break very easily.

Excellent crayons . We gave these to our 22 month old son for Christmas and he did'nt want to stop playing with these crayons. He likes stacking them up 'till they fall down - and they don't break. We enjoy counting the crayons together and naming each of the colors. They're very easy and fun to hold either with your finger inside the crayon or in the palm of your hand. For the lighter colored crayons you have to press down somewhat hard to actually see the color on the paper. I like that they don't roll off the table!

Frustration in 30 ugly colors! . I fell for it: the reviews were good and positive, so I gave it a shot. These crayons will only result in frustration with any kid under 4. They are so hard you can only use them on rough surfaces such as a plaster wall or furniture. Our toddler tries them on all kinds of paper, but all they leave is a faint trace. We are having a MUCH better result with the free crayons they give away at California Pizza Kitchen: they are equally NON-TOXIC, have GREAT COLORS, and -most important- DO leave a trace on the paper!
Unless you kid is 5, frustration-proof, or allowed to draw on the walls, don't waste your money on the Alex crayons, you will regret it.

Not the greatest crayons . Saw these crayons and thought that they would be great for my 18 month old. The main thing that I am not fond of is that you have to put so much pressure on them to actually see color. They are good for my daughter to grasp with the large ball on the end. Not sure I would buy these again.

Great! . These are wonderful for little hands that haven't learned to hold standard crayons yet. My daughter (just turned 2) loves drawing with these. She calls them her "colors." I recommend.

great for little stackers! . Our daughter got these for her second birthday and she absolutely loves them! She loves to stack and count things so these are perfect for her. We're also using them to teach her colors. They're a little tough to color with, but the other features make them worth it. We expected them to break easily but they're actually pretty durable for crayons. We'll definitely purchase these again!

Cons Review

These are great! . My 20 month old twins love these! We bought a smaller set when they were about 1. They could use them then, but tended to bite the ends off. I would wait till the child was past the eating everything stage. Now my girls have a great time with the crayons. They like to stack them up as much as they like to color with them. I would definately recommend them.

Smells and fragile . I bought these crayons for my son to refine his tripod grasp and to provide a fun new crayon. To my horror, these things have a faint chemical smell. That can't be good. They also are easily broken if you have a rough toddler(26mths) boy such as mine. That said, he loves them. He likes stacking them, counting them, coloring with them, and even pretending he is making ice cream cones with them. I would not buy these again, despite him liking them. I can't get over the chemical smell and the lack of durability considering the age group they are marketed to.

My boy just loves them! . he stacks them one on each other, plays little puppet show toping his fingers with them, and of course paints with them..
The only thing is that this colors are not too strong, so the painting always looks as if it fades.

Wonderful learning activity! . This is a wonderful toy for learning many beginning math concepts. At first glance you don't realize how much learning these little gingerbread people can inspire. There are a multitude of ways to sort and pattern with these. I bought them for my 2 1/2 year old, but my 7 year old loves them just as much. There is a short learning guide that comes with them with some great ideas for other activities. I worked with my youngest for about 15 minutes with these and in that amount of time we sorted them about 4 different ways, counted different sets and patterned. As a teacher and a mother, these should be in every child's playroom! I even bought a set for my morning kdg. class!

My son really likes the gingerbread people! . My son is 14 months, and really enjoys playing with these. Although we aren't to the sorting stage yet, he likes collecting them and putting them in different places. I don't have any trouble snapping them together as one other reviewer mentioned. My son can't do it yet, but my 3 1/2 year old daughter can.

I also really like the material of these gingerbread people. The look like a hard plastic, but are actually somewhat bendable, although they won't stay in the position you put them in. We have several other Learning Resources food toys, and they have all been huge hits (the cookies are a definite MUST!). I would definitely recommend this toy!

Good beginning game for 2 year old . My 22 month old daughter really likes these. When she plays with them by herself she treats them like any other doll, using them for imaginative play, having them talk to each other and such. When we play together she has a great time finding the "friends". I'll have her find the two green hats or any two girls. She likes to label each of the parts as well.

She is not able to snap them together herself yet, but she hands me the two that go together and I snap them for her. A couple of the holes were a little snug when we got them, but if you put something like a pen through the hole a couple of times it stretches right out (the pegs from our puzzle set were a good fit).

All in all I think this is a great toy, portable, fun for independent and family play and I can already see that it will grow with my daughter.

my nephew and nieces love these! . I bought these for my niece for her 3rd birthday. She, her 5-year-old brother, and her 22-month sister all have fun sorting and combining them. Even the baby can snap them together pretty well now.

Play time . The kids love these little guys! Very durable. They work in the bath tub too.

Fun and Interesting . This toy is very interesting. Everyone who comes over and sees them remarks on how cute the little cookie people are and how fun they look. My daughter likes to group them into boys and girls as well as sorting them by different colors or designs. They aren't hard to snap together either. She can and isn't even 3 yet. This is a toy I highly recommend. It is also good for imaginative play.

Durable fun good imagination builder . "The Gingerbread Man" was my daughter's favorite story about this time last year (she was about 18 months old). He sort of became our theme for Christmas. These "Smart Snacks" now reside in her play kitchen, but also are used just by themselves in various forms of play. They are very sturdy and I can see them lasting and being played with for many years. (Can even stand up to teething, though we make sure to only "pretend" eat them!)

Not as fun as I thought they would be! . I thought these would be great in my daycare but they are only used for pretend cookies. We tried playing memory match and it was hard because none really "match up".they do have different colors and embelishments but my kids really do not actively play with these, they are a little tough for little hands and fingers to snap together.

Misunderstood . I purchased this product for my little girl. She loves to color on anything she can get her hands on, and I love the color wonder as the product is mess free.

I guess I misunderstood that this particular item was the mini version. I paid $6 for something that I could have paid $9 for and received the fullsize version.

Overall the product was a good buy (money-wise). I just do not feel it was worth the price considering all of the options available for the color wonder products.

Color wonder is amazing technology that does exactly what it claims - colors only on the paper (and colors well) so you dont have to worry about your child coloring your whole house. Decent but no Black or Yellow . These are decent "skinny" fine-point washable Crayola markers. The box says "Made in the USA." I experienced one slight issue with one of the markers. As soon as I went to use it, a large drop of the watercolor fluid rolled down the tip of the marker and left a 1/8" dot on the paper. After that, it worked fine, but I've never had a marker do that before!

These are "Bold Colors." The colors included are: azure (blue), plum (dark purple), rasberry (bright reddish purple), emerald (green), teal, golden yellow, primrose (purple), and copper (brown). The golden yellow is more orange than yellow. There isn't a black, or even a true red.

If you want the basic colors, get a different set. I recommend the Dixon Prang Fine Point Art Markers, 8 Color Set, Classic Colors (80719), which include the basic colors (even black), and are water-based, although they are not advertised as washable. They have a slightly finer tip and seem a little better quality at about the same price as this set.

Overhyped with very disappointing result . This product is so difficult to use. We cannot even create the simpler figures that are on the box. Each piece does not really stick together. No matter how many times you press them together, they still come loose. Particularly the end parts.

This toy is expensive and does not work. If adults become frustrated and cannot work with it, what more for the kids. My kids just gave up. One of my sons wanted and wished this for Christmas and what a disappointment for him to become so excited for a toy that he found out not so fun to play with. He saw this on TV. It says for 3-yr-old and up on the box.

They Stink! . These stink! They don't stick together, and they fall apart everywhere. Plus once you bend them, they're ruined.

I wouldn't recomend these to anyone.

Lots of fun pieces but pretty frustrating . I saved this for my daughter's Birthday party. I love that it comes with everything you need and contains multiple crafts. The kids were super excited when we opened it and they saw all the bright, colorful, fun crafting supplies like feathers and paper streamers.
Huge, huge downside...some of it was near impossible to accomplish. Love the jumbo glue stick but there was no way that a five year old could get those thin cardboard pieces to bend and stick around the paper cups, even I couldn't! They popped off EVERY time. Also, the quality of the stickers was an issue. They're so thin that the kids quickly became frustrated at them tearing as they were peeling them off. Quite a bit of modifying was required for most everything.
Out of the three crafts, really the paper plate masks were the biggest hit and turned out cute. But even with that, there were things that fueled frustration like the idea that a big plastic button would stick and stay on with a glue stick.
So, the idea was great but overall this kit caused a bit too much frustration for the amount of fun it provided at the party and required a lot of grown up help.

Would be great... with glue dots! . The three projects are very cute, and I enjoyed working on them with my 4-year-old. The stickers are just fine to make faces, but the pieces that need to be stuck on/put together with the glue stick... are impossible! It was very frustrating for me as an adult to not be able to put together the crafts as intended using the tools provided, and of course my daughter couldn't make anything stay on with the glue stick either.Then I had a smart moment and ran to our craft drawer for Glue Dots... that saved the day. Arms and crowns and hats could be attached with ease. Phew!There's plenty of shredded tissue paper to use on these and future projects, and enough supplies to make all the projects pictured. It made for a good winter night activity for us, and we still have leftovers that should last us for at least another two nights.So I'd just suggest having either glue dots, a hot glue gun, or a stapler at hand for the trickier parts to attach.

A box of fun... . We gave this craft kit, as a gift, to our cousin. Below is her review:
*This craft kit was so much fun! We took it on our trip to the mountains and had a blast. The box had everything we needed to complete the 3 crafts. Our family of 4 each got to make hats, animal masks and funny looking monsters. Included was instructions, popsicle sticks, cups, plates, masks, buttons, pipe cleaners, buttons and stickers. The kids did need a bit of help getting things to stick together but otherwise we had a blast. We even ordered more of these craft boxes from Alex Ready when we returned. We plan on taking them with us again on our next trip.

Loaded Craft Kit . This is an arts and crafts kit meant for children (although it's fun to use as an adult, especially if you're a big kid like me). Included is everything you and your child need to unleash some serious creativity and bring those mental images to life.There are a bunch of items in the box to decorate paper cups and plates and turn them from plain eating and drinking tools into something really cool. The nice thing is, you can use these items on pretty much any paper cup or plate so if you decide to get other ones to make further projects, you can.The major strength of this product is that it includes pretty much everything you need in one box. Could you buy all of this stuff separately? Yup. This set gives you convenience. That means you just buy it, bust it open, and let the kids have at it (and the adults too).

nice craft kit for anyone . I have always liked the Alex craft kits and they are usually affordable. I always recommend them to teachers & parents as a back up activity and I have used this particular kit as a birthday party activity to keep the kids occupied. It has 12 activities in it and is recommended for 3+ but I think it may be better for 5 and up. Getting some of the pieces to stay together takes patience that some three year olds don't have. Great for boys & girls!

Encouraging Creative Craftiness in Kids . This a fun kit that allows for kids to be creative in any way they wish. There are three different crafts which can be made in whatever way you child so wishes up to 4 times equaling 12 total projects. In my opinion, this would be the perfect set for a group of four or less children so there's a equal amount of projects per kid. Included in this set are all sorts of fun craft mediums such as four party hats, four masks, four monster cups, oodles of stickers, precut shapes, pipe cleaners, buttons, feathers, popsicle sticks, tissue paper, glue stick. There are included instructions that are completely visual and very easy for a child to follow even without the help of an adult.I love the bright vibrant colors of craft supplies offered. The amount of things really gives a child free reign in being super creative. This kit would be great for a rainy day or anytime really. I home school my three year old daughter so this set is perfect for our craft time! I love Alex products and would highly recommend this kit for home or school settings!

Cute Creative Crafts . This is a very cute craft set for much younger kids.It would be a great idea to use this at parties but this kit only contain enough crafts for about 6 kids at the most depending on what they are trying to make. Everything is very colorful and bright and the directions will give you plenty ideas if you have trouble deciding on what to create next.it comes with a variety of stickers,buttons,feathers ,etc.Everything was packaged nice and neat and I had fun being creative with the contents.

seriously flawed . I bought this craft kit for my son who is 4 years old. I was excited as the crafts looked really easy to make but visually exciting. My disappointment came after trying unsuccessfully to make the pieces stick together. We started with the cup monsters which did eventually stick with the glue stick provided and a lot of effort (by me - my son wouldn't have been able to make it stick down). However, the next craft we tried was the fish hat which was impossible to make the way they suggest in the instructions. The two paper plates that are supposed to stay together with stickers will not. Luckily I had a staple gun handy or I might have had a very unhappy little boy on my hands. We pressed on with the hat and the stickers still refused to stay down and the feathers kept coming off. They also omit to tell you how to attach the pipe cleaners to the top of the hat. Staple gun came in handy for that too.
Alex Little Hands usually make exceptionally high quality products, but they need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Three Different Crafts for Four Kids . This is my third Alex craft box. We have the Alex Ready, Set, School Activity Box, Alex Little Hands Seriesas well as one of their other craft boxes. I love how they're very complete--glue sticks and everything you need included. They are overpriced, however--but are great for grandparents or Moms who want an emergency craft kit (or just don't want to assemble their own supplies.)This kit comes with three different crafts (not 12...but 12 in total):
*Paper cup monsters
*Paper plate hats
*Paper plate animalsEach craft has enough for four kids (or for your child to do it four times). Each craft has its supplies in its own plastic bag--which is nice. There are three different direction sheets--and they're designed for non-readers. They'll show, for example, a red cup...and then show what goes on the red cup. Then, the punch outs for the red cup will also be labeled with a red cup. Really well thought out.I think if you're doing preschool at home or just want to add some art enrichment to your day, it's nice to have. If you think of it as one craft per week--it's a little more than $1.00/week/kid. Not too bad. I'll add that my 4, 6, and 8 year olds all enjoyed the crafts--they're not just for preschoolers. You'll also end up with left-over paper shreds which can be used for other crafts.I'm going to send another one of these craft kits to my Mom's house for when we visit at Christmas. It's so complete--that it's worth it.Now, that I'm on my fourth child, I've slowly established craft supplies. For my four year old, I like to assign a certain craft to each day...so Monday is play dough (homemade...just Google a recipe, so easy!), Tuesday is painting, Wednesday is crafts (either the Kumon books or Alex kits), Thursday is drawing, and Friday is free. One great easy craft is to just buy some pipe cleaners and bugle beads...and let a child string them. The pipe cleaner is much easier to string things on. Homemade play dough is great. It's easy (I buy a bag of the cheapest flour for it)...and giving that to kids along with cookie cutters, rolling pins, etc. can keep them busy for hours. (There are cooked/non=-cooked recipes everywhere.) Kids also like to collect things outside and then make collages. Let them paint paper towel and toilet paper tubes before you recycle them. Clear contact-paper is great for having them stick things to. There are tons of craft-y blogs out there for ideas as well. I also love all of Maryann Kohl's books. We still use First Art : Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos and my older kids love the projects! Have fun! Remember, messes are not that tough to clean up...and usually kids love to help.

Great ideas but poor quality . I have purchased other Alex Little Hands crafts over the past year for my children (my son is almost 5 and my daughter is almost 2). We've really enjoyed them, so when I saw this I ordered it.When it came, my son instantly wanted to make a paper cup monster. It's a cute concept, but the glue provided (as mentioned by other reviewers) is pretty much worthless. My little boy got frustrated when things didn't stick, and he'd have to use more glue and hold it for a while to get the pieces to stay. This doesn't work well with impatient, small children, so make sure to have your own glue handy.My daughter wanted to make a fish hat with Daddy, and that worked out okay, but again we had issues with the glue, and the stickers just weren't strong enough to hold it together. The hat turned out really cute and my daughter loved it once my husband got out some other glue to work with.Basically this kit is comprised of colored paper cups and colored paper plates with some round stickers, some light weight poster board pieces for arms and other features, and other pieces for decorating. It also comes with a glue stick, which I would immediately replace. It would be pretty easy to make these items yourself, and probably for less money. This kit seems pretty expensive for what you actually get, although it does have projects that my 2 year old and 5 year old really enjoyed.

Fun to play with. . This is a great birthday present. And these are authentic erasers. Can I tell you a secret? Can you keep it? Good! To tell if erasers are authentic. that means for these are made in japan. You have to see if it is all eraser. but it is hard to do that these days. Because some erasers from them have plastic now. And if it says on the wraper if it is Iwako. It looks like it is. So as I was saying. I think your child will love these. And if you went to some Hallmarks you would see these. But not all hallmarks have this product. Mostly cards. But I do not blame them. Cards are there main thing not erasers.

cute but misleading . these erasers were adorable, they are incredibly detailed and authentic, made in japan, the colours are wonderful :D and i would of given them 5 stars except for one HUGE issue. when i was looking at the pictures of the featured erasers (as seen above) I saw that one was a parody of famous drink calpis or camepis XD i really looked forward to getting this one specific eraser because i love the drink and a mock eraser just looked adorable, however after the speedy delivery :D that one eraser was the only one I didnt get :'( it came with another one not shown above, i really had my heart set on getting it so it was very dissapointing, but that is just my individual problem. if it hadnt been for that this products is a 5
