This chalk is fine! . I have to say that I had no idea how hard it would be to FIND colored chalk at a store so I turned to Amazon of course. Then I was astounded at the array of choices and many reviews of different chalk products. Finally i went with Melissa and Doug. I have to say that I was a little nervous since some reviewers seem to think this chalk is so crappy. BUT, I'm happy to say, it's fine! the colors are beautiful and yes some of the chalk has broken but I'm not sure what kinds of chalk people are using that never snaps in half. I'm happy with my Melissa and Doug chalk.

Fun . My daughter loves this and likes to draw pictures in her room on a chalk board I also bought from amazon. I would recommend this product.

Who knew quality of chalk matters?? . Bought this to replace old, brittle chalk for my son's chalkboard. It's sturdy (remember - any stick of chalk is going to be prone to breaking...it's chalk) and the colors are vibrant and fun. The eraser is fantastic.
works great! . Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas to go with her new chalkboard. Chalk and eraser work nicely. Excellent price for the combo pack too!!!
Good Quality and Good Price . Most of the stuff put out by Melissa and Doug is good. This does not miss that mark. For the price you get everything you need for your chalkboard and it is very good in quality. The chalk feels sturdy enough to last through some abuse and the eraser definitely is built well. All in all a great value for your money.
Chalk Bundle . You can always count on Melissa and Doug products as being the best. The are always of good quality and work very well. We purchased this bundle for our 3 year old to go with the new chalk board/easel that Santa brought. The chalk in this bundle is porous and writes very well on the chalk board. The eraser is made very well and does a great job cleaning the board. It is a much better eraser than can be purchased in the local stores. I purchased this bundle because of other reviews I read about the chalk boards needing porous chalk to work well in little hands. Sidewalk chalk also works very well. I highly recommend this bundle for those budding artists!
A hundred little pieces of white chalk in the box... . Unfortunately, when we opened the box of white chalk, every single piece of chalk was broken into tiny, unusable pieces. We could salvage a few, but the majority was tossed right away. That was a big disappointment. The colored chalk fared better, there were 3 or 4 intact pieces and the others weren't as badly broken as the white chalk, so the kids should still be able to draw with those. Overall, I would not recommend this product again, or maybe this happened during shipping. I have to say the shipment was well packaged though. The eraser is great. I will never order chalk online again due to fear it breaks during the shipping and handling process.
Cons Review
Decent set for the price . My daughter received a Melissa & Doug Deluxe Standing Easelfor Christmas. I quickly started adding supplies. I purchased some store-brand white chalk, and then I found this chalk set online. I cannot say that I can tell a difference between the brands, personally. It is all chalk, and it all breaks. That's just what chalk does. Kid fingers are just as happy with broken pieces as whole pieces in my experience. As far as my daughter is concerned, that just gives her "more" chalk. Not a big deal.The eraser with this set is nice and, in my opinion, that is what sets this set apart. You can use an old sock as an eraser, but it does not get the board as clean as this eraser. It seems durable as well. Even after several falls to the floor, it has not broken.
