Fun and long lasting limited shaping . My 3 year old has LOVED playing with this playfoam and I seem to find the ball of the mushed together foam in his room just about every morning him having grabbed it to play with in bed! Since the playfoam doesn't dry out I don't have to worry or stress about it being left out of the package! Plus, it has really good about very little mess! Occasionally a few of the tiny foam balls will be separated "from the pack" and get lost but it hasn't been a big deal so far. While it's been a lot of fun for my boys to play with, I do think it's hard to make many things that really represent a real life object. For example, the most creative I really got was a snowman and a hot dog - very simple shapes. It is hard to create really defined lines with the foam so the designs to stay pretty simple. This is really a non-issue for younger children though as they wouldn't be attempting complex designs.Disclosure: I received 2 4-packs of Playfoam for free to review on my website A Mom's Take. Great alternative to Play-Doh style products . Bought for a 5yr old and he really enjoys it. As stated it doesn't dry out and also creates very little mess. It seems like it would be sticky and attract dirt / hair but so far we have not had any problem with that. I thought our dogs might try to eat it as well but they have zero interest in it unlike our play-doh.As the other reviewer stated it's hard to make complicated shapes but it is great to leave on the coffee table. We've had adults and kids alike unable to put it down while they were visiting!

Adult learning how to "knit" . I used this kit as an adult to learn how to "knit" a scarf. The "wool" that the kit comes with is ok, but I found that a thicker yarn makes an amazing scarf that would actually keep you warm. nice end product . I bought this "knitting" kit for my 10 year old. If you ever did "finger knitting" as a kid (wind yarn around one hand's fingers, pull loops over, make long rope of "knitting" that you have no idea what to do with) and wish you had more fingers to make a bigger project, then this is the item you wanted. You've got a knitting loom of 2 rows of 12 pegs. You wind yarn zig-zag style back and forth. Loop bottom loop over top loop, wind more, loop again, repeat. The instructions are good. The actual winding/looping "knitting" part is easy and fast. The directions for the kit call for making a fringe that both binds the starting and ending edges as well as is decorative. This fringe takes FOREVER to make per the directions. Looks awesome, but so time consuming and a little tricky that my 10 year old would a) not be able to do it alone and b) even if I showed her what to do, would have given up on the project because the fringe making was so time consuming and tedious.

I did the starting/ending fringe as well as a bunch of the "knitting" (fun part!). Like another reviewer we bought some other yarn and are making another scarf. With a bulky yarn, you'll get a winter weight scarf and we found that just using 8 of the 12 sets of pegs made a scarf width that worked well. The yarn that came with the kit is a thin, open ribbon and knits up as a fairly narrow (like 3" wide) scarf even when using all 12 pairs of pegs; perfect as a belt or accesory.

My Daughters Loved It . There are few things that my daughters love more than a craft kit. Everything is included, you just pop it open, and you go. Honestly, I like craft kits too - they REALLY cut down on the amount of time it takes to get a craft going for my little ones.

When we received the Snap Fashion Jewelry Studio kit in the mail to review, my oldest daughter in particular couldn't wait to dig in. She was packing the box around, pouring over the Snap It Up! Idea book that comes with the kit and continually (CONTINUALLY) asking when we could open it.

So, before I get into details about what my children eventually created, here is what you receive in the box:

So, this art kit is recommended for children seven-and-up, but that didn't stop the entire family from getting in on the action! My husband ended up supervising my three oldest girls (8, 5, 2.5 - I know, this kit isn't recommended for 3 and under, naughty us!) while they made me Mother's Day gifts from this kit! (So sweet!)

The darlings went wild! They used all the bases, both of the rings, the connector (which puts two snaps together), the glue (not all of it), pretty near all of the jewels, and most of the fabric circles! They made me two rings, and a necklace that used up most of their supplies (they put a LOT of snaps on it!) and some loose snaps as well from the younger children. Their creations were fairly simple - my children are young. You can purchase additional supplies to make the more complex projects presented in the idea book, but they were happy to keep things simple.

My smaller girls did have a bit of a tricky time getting their fabric just right. Some of the edges were a bit loose, and one came undone at the side. My oldest daughter - who is actually in the recommended age range - did a great job; all of her snaps are tight and sturdy!

With my children going through the supplies so quickly, I automatically wondered if refill kits are available to keep using the snap maker. Unfortunately there aren't any refills available at the moment, you need to call SmartLab Toys to order refills on an individual basis. There MAY be refills available this fall.

You can purchase this kit for $24.99; this is a really fun sleepover, girly night, or sister-bonding project. Definitely add this to your birthday-party-wishlist that you give to your relatives - any young recipient will be absolutely thrilled!

My olest daughter has been haunting the SmartLab website for days now to learn about all of the other neat kits to make accessories for kids that they have available for budding crafters. Fellow homeschoolers, take note - you CAN count this as an educational toy, as it fits in well with the arts and crafts/home economics subject areas!

Beter than expected . I received these book a few days ago, and as soon as I pulled them out of the box my kids were all over them. They are made of heavy duty cardstock 10 pages each and, as the picture doesn't show very well, each book comes with it's own crayon box with 6 crayons in them. The only down side (Why this only gets 4 stars)is that the crayon box is open faced (to see the colors I presume) and my 2 yr. old managed to tear it in just moments of contact. I fixed it with a couple of pieces of tape.

I let my kids color in them to their hearts content, then took a paper towel and easily wiped off the color.

3 of the books are about animals with simple stories written below so you can read them to your kids. (If they'll listen)

The fourth book is "now I know my ABCs" so your pre-k or kindergartner can practice on this one.

Because it's all self contained I take them with us to restaurants, long drives and camping. Definitely worth the price in my opinion.
