Best Crayola Beginnings Washable TaDoodles Ta-Doodler in USA
cute but crayon idea is not good The little green creature is super cute and my daughter (18 mths) loves its music. I thought it would be an attractive way to introduce coloring to her as the belly lights up to get her attention. Unfortunately she also loves to eat the crayons as well. I got the whole thing set up and we sat down with it, I picked up one crayon to show her what to do and she picked hers up and bit off the top! I will put it away and pull it out when she's a bit older to see if there are better results. I know that the package says for 18 months but I think that unless you child doesn't put everything in its mouth you should wait until your child is older.

Great travel toy . I just left a review on the pink color since we own both and haven't had any problems. I wonder if the newer ones have corrected the problem older reviews mention about the lines not showing up, because both colors have worked fine for us. We love the smaller size- no complaints!

Drawings Fade Immediately . Once my child starts drawing, the lines immediately fade away. Quite lame for a drawing toy. After a few seconds there is nothing on the board at all. I guess they could have saved a few bucks in making it if they had removed the erasing mechanism as it is not needed.

ART EASEL DESK Reviews
Super cute! . The Art Easel Desk possesses all the qualities I've come to know and love about the Step 2 company's products. They make products that hold up even with the toughest kids. Believe me I know. Assembly was really easy, but somewhat time consuming. Getting the screws through the hard plastic will take some muscle. I don't consider myself all that savvy when it comes to putting things together or to have much in the muscles department, but I had this up and ready to use in about 45 minutes. The instructions have nicely illustrated pictures and everything is labeled with a letter. I loved how easy they were to follow. This desk is recommended for ages 1 1/2 + I honestly think a child under 2 would be too tiny to really enjoy this. Size wise this is perfect for kids between the ages of 2-5. My 6 year old is even enjoying it, but she is too big to really use the desk side. It is very stable unlike some of the table and chair sets made for toddlers. I don't think this would have any tipping issues. I love the hidden compartment under the small whiteboard. It is a great place to stow crayons and a coloring book. The other organizer keeps markers handy and within reach. If there were bins underneath I'd consider this the perfect starter desk for toddlers and preschoolers.This is all around durable product, and exactly what you'd expect from Step 2.
Desktop could be bigger otherwise okay. . I am totally inept when it comes to building things, so I saved it for my husband. Maybe he made it look easy, but it only took him about 15 minutes with an automatic screwdriver and I didn't hear any swearing so I figured that was a good sign. Like with other Step2 products, it seems very sturdy.My son knew it was for him and went over to it immediately upon completion. However, he had a bit of trouble getting his legs over and inside the desk. He's almost 3 but is above the 100th percentile in both height and weight (40" tall and 41#), so he's a big kid--probably about the size of at least a normal 4 or 5 year old--and he seems to be almost too big for this desk. Yes he can sit at the desk, but it takes a bit of finagling and it looks a bit awkward.I think the desktop itself could be just a bit larger. It won't even fit a regular-sized coloring book--so the book has to sit cockeyed on it or you have to shove it between the sides so the ends curl up. Also, the holes for markers/pencils/crayons is neat, but I feel it's a bit too shallow for markers and the holes are a bit too big for crayons (but not big enough for two) so you really can't fit that many in there. Books do fit behind the marker stand but not in the desk itself (under the lid). We don't have a lot of space so thought this was a good option. We'll see how much my son actually uses it, as it's been together for about five days and he's played at it three times for maybe a total of 15 minutes.
Well Designed Product . We bought this easel for our 3 yr old nephew who loves to draw and paint. My husband assembled it prior to giving it to him as a gift, and setup was easy, only taking about 10 minutes. It seems very sturdy, and although it was smaller than I expected, it is more than adequate for a young child. However, our nephew is of average size, and I think the desk might be outgrown fairly quickly. His 5 year old older sister is already too large for the desk.Our nephew loves using the easel. He has spent countless hours both sitting in the chair, drawing and painting to his hearts delight. All in all, this easel provides good value for the money.
Best for ages 1 to 4 . This is a sturdy little plastic desk and easel combination best suited for ages 1 to 4. We tried it in a small classroom with ages 1 to 7. The desk is sized best for ages 2-4 and the easel for ages 1-3. Older than that would either hunch over at the desk or be too tall for the easel, which is just under 3 feet tall. While slightly larger children could still use it for shorter periods, if you are shopping for someone older than 4 look for something more appropriate.For the younger children, the desk and easel worked well and it was nice and sturdy. It was pretty much what we expected, as we have a similar desk (without easel) made by Today's Kids. We (and the children) really like that this can be used by 2 children at once.Assembly was fairly simple. It is held together by a bunch of screws that you poke through a hole in once piece into a dimple in the other, and push hard enough to start a new hole. Be careful not to over-tighten; there isn't much resistance when fully tight so watch to see when the screw is all the way in. It does require a bit of force to start a new hole, and be sure to push the screw in straight so it starts correctly.Both whiteboards (one on the desk and one for the easel) arrived chipped around the edges, which was disappointing.This is a small and stable desk which doesn't take up much room; however, note that it does NOT "fold for easy storage" as the product description on amazon states.Recommended for small children.
Great Desk/Easel for younger children . Step 2 has made another great product. This Art Easel Desk is perfect for the little budding artist. It features a white board with a clip on one side that also has a little shelf to store markers, etc. The desk side of the easel is perfect for coloring. The desk lifts up for more storage and there is also storage above for markers and coloring books. This desk is best suited for younger children. This desk is almost too small for my 4-year old (he is big for his age). Assembly is fairly easy and I would recommend a power screw driver because it is a lot easier. The unit is fairly compact so it is great for smaller homes. Highly recommend!
The perfect desk for my 2yr old! . I've long been a fan of Step2 products, with a 7 1/2yr old and almost 2yr old we've owned many. I prefer natural materials for most of my childrens toys when appropriate but when it comes to art desks, slides, etc nothing beats the quality or construction and the lasting value of Step2... I swear you could drop one from a roof or off a truck and it would bounce down and be perfect. When my older daughter was a toddler we bought her the step2 art desk, I thought it was great but quickly realized that it was really too big (she'd try to climb on it to reach the markers and crayons stored on top, it took up a huge amount of space) and that the chair being separate meant that she was either dragging it around to get into trouble (using it to climb onto things) or falling off it when trying to climb on it to reach the top of the desk. When I saw this option for my 2yr old I knew I found the perfect first art desk. It's much more compact, yes the surface is little... but so is my 2yr old! I love that the seat is built in so she can't topple backwards or drag the chair away. The easel on the other side is a wonderful use of space and the whole thing fits in a small space and is light enough for me to move around as needed. By the time my daughter outgrows this desk she'll be ready to sit at the actual table to do her drawings and coloring. Way to go Step2 on another great product!
A very fun solution for kid's creativity . As a parent of four children, I'm always on the lookout for creative art solutions for them. We have a small space in our townhome, so we can't always go with huge easels and other art solutions. So that's why we love this art easel desk. It's nice in that at least two kids can be occupied at the same time. One can sit and the other can stand. If your kids are younger, you might even get two at the desk. We also like the storage space underneath the desk/drawing area. This allows you to store your markers and other art utensils. Also, this is made of durable, flexible plastic--kid friendly--so they won't get hurt when they bump into it and it won't snap or crack. It's also just the right size. IT won't take up a ton of room, especially if you have a small space. Lastly, the instructions were surprisingly easy. It was a snap to put together. I highly recommend this art station.
Great easel/desk with a small footpring . This is a neat solution for smaller spaces, the desk and easel combo combine two things that take up the space of one. I was disappointed that the eraser board slat for the easel was dinged pretty badly right out of the box. This is a major bummer, but I am going to call Step2's customer service to see if they will send a replacement. Other than that, I am really happy with it.
Suitable for kids shorter than 3 feet . I own several Step2 products. Art Easel Desk offers similar quality product at a reasonable price. While it isn't as future proof as more expensive products such as Alex My Art Desk with Paper Roll, but it is perfectly cute, durable, and functional for younger kids.Step2's Art Easel Desk is easy to put together, minus few "oops, that goes over there" hiccups. My 3 year old son enjoyed building it together in about 30 minutes. The easel desk consists of two parts: (1) activity desk and (2) easel.First, the desk. My son is 38 inches tall and it is all too small for him to sit comfortably. I would say the desk is usable for kids 32 inches or shorter. In addition, it can be a bit difficult for younger kids (18 months to 2 year) to get in and out on their own. Although the desk is more durable than it appears, the paper-based drawing pad may wear out if it gets too wet (e.g., oil painting).Second, the easel. The easel is also too short for taller kids. It's suitable for kids 34 inches or shorter. The easel pad is also paper-based. Step2 missed the opportunity to substitute magnet friendly metal pad.All in all, Step2's art easel desk is good in concept but marred by small size. Integrated chair is very nice and the product occupies very small space. But for those with tall kids, I recommend getting more future proof products instead.

Great! . We purchased this easel for our 3 1/2 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it! We have it to where she can only use the chalkboard side freely, and only under our supervision can she use the dry-erase side. We put it to a lot of use now during college football season... we bring it out to the living room and keep track of the scores. We can watch the game, play with her and she can practice her numbers all at once. It is very sturdy and we highly recommend it!

Awesome stampers for little ones . I got these for my 18 month and 3 1/2 year old boys. They love them, and so do I. They are very easy to use, they are not messy at all, the ink pad is hidden and not accessible by little fingers. My only disappointment is the actual size of the stamp is very small (like 1/4"), compared to the overall size of the stamper. And they are a little hard to tell what it is you're stamping (bird?, cow?). But they love them, so who cares. We haven't had any malfunctions yet!

Fun but beware of the stamping monster . My toddler loves these stamps, he's 17 mons now and he can't get enough of them, I can though! I have my walls stamped, my floors stamped, furniture, crib, etc. It's so easy for him to stamp that he keeps stamping all over the house. So I had to hide them and he has to play with them when I'm sitting with him in the room only. Otherwise they are really fun and I agree with the other review that the stamped animal is really small, but I don't think they care!

Good toy for 12+ months . Hi,
My daughter loves this. She got it as a present on her 12 month birthday. She likes the animals and when she figured out that she can stamp it when its turned upside down she had a lot of fun. However, she also figured out that she can stamp the couch and her body. Luckily, it cleans up well.

My kids love those . Those are fun for kids. My girl does not like to take a bath, but after using this. Now she loves the bathing time. Sometimes she doesn't want to get out of the tub. The only advise is you have to wash your bath tub right away, otherwise, I think the mark is not easy to get off. But if you wash it right away, it's not hard to clean up.

I didn't pay that much attention to the previous reviews, but they are the size of your fingertip. Since they are meant for little ones, it's not that big of a deal, but next time I will definitely buy larger stamps.5 stars for the fun of it and the seeming durability, 2 stars for the size.

Too small . I had been looking for a stamper set. These looked so cute, the only problem is the actual stamp size is smaller than a penny! Hard to see what the animal is when stamped.
okay.... . These are just okay. First they are cheaper in stores than on Amazon.com. Second, they smear. My 17month old has some problems getting them positioned "just right" to make the stamp mark. I wish they didnt have to be positioned perfectly to work. She seems to enjoy them, so they were worth the money.
cute . these are very cute stamps. you do have to press down pretty hard and even on the paper to get a good image of the stamp. it was kinda hard for my 20 month old to work these but she still had fun no matter if the image turned out complete or not.

Awful . I purchased the Crayola TaDoodles paints for my 20 month old son so he could paint with his big sister. What a mistake! All these paints do is dribble a HUGE messy paint puddle around on the paper and your child pushes it around. There is no control over the paint what so ever. So much paint comes out that when my son (and almost 4 year old daughter) tries to move the brush it just rips a hole in the soaked paper. I am serious when I say your toddler would be better off with traditional watercolors and a brush.
I also bought the water TaDoodle, thinking it would be better because it just writes on a special board that changes color when the water touches it. It lasted 2 hours! The water just poured out of the TaDoodle and ripped the board all up. I will not be buying anymore TaDoodles!

Best Paint Product for 3 and under! . I had these in storage for nearly 2 years and I expected that the paint would be dried out. It isn't! They work wonderfully. My 2 year old and my 4 year old still love them. Children can make a mess with anything so don't get them out unless you prepare for clean up. I have a children's table and simple wipe it off when they are done. I put a dollar store shower curtain on the floor in case of dropsies. It's so easy to clean up and makes the least amount of mess when it comes to painting!
Best Paint Product for 3 and under! . I had these in storage for nearly 2 years and I expected that the paint would be dried out. It isn't! They work wonderfully. My 2 year old and my 4 year old still love them. Children can make a mess with anything so don't get them out unless you prepare for clean up. I have a children's table and simple wipe it off when they are done. I put a dollar store shower curtain on the floor in case of dropsies. It's so easy to clean up and makes the least amount of mess when it comes to painting!
Fabulous for your little artist . I bought these paints for my 15m old daughter. She spent about 45 min painting with these. She painted the table, her hands, face and arms, pretty much everything she could reach but her paper. The best part about these was how easy they were to clean up. I used a diaper wipe and cleaned her and the table with it, then rinsed the paints under the faucet and left them on the counter to dry.
We have used these about 7 times since we bought them and they always work great. I highly recomend these to those who don't mind their kids having a little fun and getting a little dirty.

Lots of Fun . I bought this for my 19 month of son. We love it. I read the other negative reviews about it being messy. It is not the kind of toy you let your toddler use unsupervised. It is definitely something for mommy and baby to do together. I sit him in his high chair and tape a piece of paper to the tray and we haven't had a problem with it becoming too much of a mess. I do sit there and participate in the painting with him and it does get on his hands and the tray, but it wipes up very easily. If you are looking for something to keep you toddler busy without interaction from an adult don't buy these, but if you want something super fun and educational to do with your toddler, I think you will like these. Besides, sometimes a little mess is fun! They are toddlers after all.

Terrible product . I bought the paints for my 18 month old son. He absolutely loved them, but he likes anything that makes a mess. The paint goes all over the place, hands, face, clothes and when he dropped one on the floor it splatterd all over the floor and walls, which was such a mess to clean up. Unless you want to cover the entire area where he's coloring with a drop cloth, it's not worth it. He has just as much fun coloring with crayons so I'm sticking with those. The markers are going in the garbage.
Lots of fun! . These are great! My 18 month old son has so much fun with them. We lay a giant towel down on the floor, sit him down (in just his diaper, as they are messy!) with the paints and a piece of white paper on a cheap plastic placemat, and he goes to town! Paints wash right off in the bathtub. :-)
Whoever invented these is insane. . My MIL bought these for my daughter's first birthday, and I didn't want to try them until now, when she's 22 months and has pretty good crayon control. (We pulled them out when we got them, and my MIL said, "Uh oh." They went back in the box.) So we tried them today when a friend was over to play. They were a disaster. Messy, drippy, hard to hold, hard to control--they're going in the trash. If I wanted that much mess, I'd get out finger paints. The shape doesn't add anything to them--it really hinders their use because they are too big. Only way I'd use these is in the bathtub. DUMB MOVE, Crayola.
cute but messy . ok, i loved the idea of the paints.non-toxic and washable. they were easy for him to hold and he understood to turn them over to paint because they are bottom heavy which means when they put them down and pick them back up they will be grabbing the brush part. i bought them for my nephew who is 14mths (i know they are for 18mths+) he did good at first with the painting and kept wanting to paint when i put them up. the reason why i put them up?? i turned my back to get him juice and hes drooling blue colored spit. they are extremely messy. they are washable so be prepared to bathe them when they are done. congratulations to the one that had success. maybe with future use i will have to do the same. strip them down lay out some towels and paper and let him paint his little heart out!! good luck

How does this stuff get on the market! . Who makes this stuff and says "Yes, this is a great product that we should sell". Don't these people test stuff before they put it on the shelves? What a waste of money. You can hardly tell what your have drawn because the lines are so broken up and chunky, the sound effect are obnoxious and useless and the screen does not clear well no matter how many times you swipe the lever. My daughter tried it once and never picked it up again. I replaced it with a board that drew better, cleared the screen perfectly and didn't make any dumb noises and she uses it daily. This went right in the garbage - I didn't feel it was even worth donating to Good Will.
We love it! . I'm not sure if the other reviewer got a bad product or what, but we love this doodler. We have two, one for each child, and both work fine. The lines are as good as they are on her full size Kid Tough Doodler from Fisher Price. We like these cozy coupe versions because they are smaller and better for the car, or to take into a restaurant. Also, my youngest recognizes that the cozy coupe matches her beloved car and she gets a kick out of that!

Hard to remove and replace the drawing implements . I chose this product because my daughter was 19 months old, and it was marketed as age-appropriate. Comparable products were labeled for ages 3 and over due to the choking hazard of small parts.
The doodle board works fine, although that piece itself is probably the flimsiest-feeling part of the product. The 3 magnets provided to draw with are made large enough to be grabbed by toddlers who haven't mastered fine motor skills yet. That part of the design seems reasonable.
Where I was disappointed was that the 3 wells which seat the drawing implements require significant pushing or pulling force in order to securely put them in or remove them for drawing. The difficulty of this is a deterrent for my daughter in interacting with the toy, unless I am pulling or pushing them for her. Even if she had more strength, the tightness with which the drawing implements fit means that you must have the judgment and motor skills to firmly grasp the frame of the drawing pad in an optimal position to apply enough counter-force to pry them out of their seated positions. She's not there and I'm not sure how soon she would be.
I can see where this might be considered an advantage in that once the drawing implements are snapped in, they're not coming out easily and so are less likely to be lost. But it makes it hard for the child to just pick up the toy and successfully play with it, so I think it's more of a design flaw than a feature.

great creative toy for hands and mind 18 momths or older . My granddaughter 18 months loves to play with the stamps that make pictures. Her little hands and mind plays with this toy for 1/2 hour to one hour at a time.

So much fun . As a caveat, I will first say we've only had this toy for an hour. But in the last hour, my (3 yr old) daughter's been more captivated with this toy than she was with any of her other Christmas gifts.
It's a higher-grade than the typical write-n-wipe boards. There's an automated component to the the wipe-off part. And the different writing utensils (one being a dinosaur footprint) really caters to the imagination. I'm even enticed to play with my daughter!
I'll come back and edit this once we get some hours in it to comment on wear/tear, but as a creative toy that captures the imagination and holds it for a nice long play time - I'm really loving this so far.
