Looks cool! Once energized and glowing, they stay bright for about 10-15 minutes. Just wish the planets glowed all ove and in color. It is just stripes here and there.

Nice decorations . The Good: Glowing stars and planets make a dark room more friendly for kids. We used a starmap to arrange them on the ceiling, so there's proper constellations and everything.

Minor Complaints: Planets made of paperboard, glowing parts of planets very strange. As long as they're not getting handled a lot, they should hold up.

Good one . I bought this for my 5-yr old son. He loves it very much. The stars glow very well, but the planets are not really that good.
It comes with the double-sided adhesive stickers, makes it very easy to stick it to the wall or roof.

Quite satisfied . Was very satisfied with this purchase. Stars are plenty durable and enough stickum to put them all up on the ceiling. We put all but one string up in the order of the constellations and got the effect we wanted. True what they say about the planets being cardboard and only the swirls glowing but I bought other sets of those separately.

just great! . if you kid into planets and you don't mind wall decorations, this is must have. My son is 4.5 and loves TMBG: How Many Planets? song and space jigsaw puzzle. So he was thrilled to have the planets' line up over his bed and I never had an easier time to get him to sleeping routine. As soon as he saw it, he just went right to bed without any tantrums, or reinforcements, or pleading from my part. The stars glow very well and for 15+ min even after a short (2-5min) exposure to light. I think that planets glow just enough. No colors are seen in the dark, so planets are more interesting to look at and differentiate in the light anyway.

PeeJay rocks! Granddaughter loves him. . When my granddaughter saw PeeJay the bedtime sock monkey, she went crazy. She is two and loves sock monkeys. She carries him everywhere and takes him to bed. She loves to "talk" to him like he is her best friend. I believe he gives her professional business advice when adults aren't listening. Through his advice, she has become a millionaire running her Melissa & Doug toy grocery store. He also speaks three languages (monkey, baby, and stuffed animal). He is widely traveled, having come from China. Overall, he is a great educational toy with all his experiences he shares with her. I would rate him as the second cutest sock monkey IN THE WORLD.

Not for beginners or kids. BETTER KNOW YOUR STUFF!!! . How hard is it to make a sock monkey? Well, after about 4-5 hours of sewing, mine still needs to have his arms, legs, and tail attached. The directions aren't great. For example it shows you how to make the tail but it isn't mentioned where or how to attach it to the body. The kit is basically 2 socks, some thread (not nearly enough), a needle, fabric, 2 buttons for the eyes, and some basic directions with a few templates for cutting out a couple of the parts. There are some tutorials on youtube, I highly suggest that you search for "sock monkey tutorial" on youtube by the user expertvillage. Here is the link to all of the tutorials:

My big mistake was doing this all by hand, a sewing machine would have saved me hours. I'll add pictures when it is done. Would I do this again... nope. Although, I do feel like I really accomplished something now that it is almost finished.

Good But Misleading . I'm very glad that the kit was shipped and received on time (especially with the holidays), but one of the main things I just discovered as I got the product is that the gift receiver will have to purchase the fiberfill filling themselves.
After going back over product specs, I see my error. But there should have been a more proactive moment to inform potential consumers that filling needs to purchased separately from the kit. Even a simple move such as Caps Lock on the fact that there is no filling would be helpful at the very least.
I'm sure my friend will love the gift, but this creates a greater burden on both them because they'd have to buy it or the purchaser because it's another thing to push into Christmas budgets.

Not recommended for anyone without a sewing machine. . In my opinion this is not a project for someone without experience using a sewing machine. The kit is very basic. Included in the kit: 2 socks, 3 sheets of felt, 2 buttons (so the description says. I only received one), embroidery floss, fabric for the hat and instructions with patterns. Pattern pieces must be cut and sewn together from the socks and felt pieces to make the monkey, bear, hat and slippers. I have many years experience sewing and even though it is a simple project, it took several hours to complete. If you are buying this for your child, it should be a joint project unless your child is skilled at sewing with a machine.I like the product and think it's well worth the price but one should expect to do some work to complete the project. Also, fiberfill to stuff the monkey and bear and the fabric glue for applying small felt pieces are not included.

wonderful and creative way to spend some time with my step-son . I am always trying to find new ways to build connections with my husband's son. When I noticed this online, I knew right away this is something we could build together as a team! He's 8yrs old and he helped put in the stuffing and cut out pieces while I was able to give him a few lessons and tips about using a thread and needle. Needless to say, I feel our relationship from mother to son has grown since then and he loves his new sock monkey =)

Not as good quality as I hoped . Although my son loves his new sock monkey, I found the material to be scratchy and cheap. It was easy to make and the directions were simple, but I'm disappointed that they used a polyester sock as the basis for the kit. Other kits I've used before had all cotton socks and made a much better toy. This one is already coming apart and won't be the childhood treasure I hoped it would be.

sock monkey . i read other reviews it sounded great but there is a bunch of sewing and i can't sew nor have a sewing machine that people say you don't need but your going to unless you feel like spending hours or days doing it so no machine do not even waste your time. overall very cute but no machine really no chance unless your a fast and great sewer.

interesting color variation . I picked these up for travel toys for my 2 & 4 year old at a local toy store. I'll stash the circle and square pieces until we arrive at our destination so there will be no tantrums over dropped pieces no one can reach in the car. The shapes do seem to take a big of effort to wiggle out of their home locations. I don't think the sense of quality is as high as the brand name Magna Doodle.

The colors are nice, not as vivid as the ones on the outside of the box depicts. There are four colors in blocked regions (not four primary colors as the listing says as red, blue, and yellow are the primary colors and green is a secondary color). I noticed in having two of them that each one has the colors in different quadrants so they are not identical, not that that should matter; it's just an observation.

The "pen" glides smoothly over the surface. I have two and both had a solvent smell to them coming out of the box. Not sure what that's about. Haven't found a way to contact Toysmith yet about that. I'll be sure to have my kids wash their hands after playing with them when we arrive somewhere. Not sure about durability yet as they haven't been road tested. If it wasn't for the solvent issue I'd give it 4 stars. Can't give it 5 without seeing it's durability.

This is also a fun tool for writing and spelling practice at home, the color aspect again adding interest, especially for visual learners.

SO FUN you don't realize it's educational! . This is so fun and easy to do. I did a program with 6 to 11 year olds and they loved it, it is so amazing to see what they can do, and all you need is sunshine and a pan of water. It takes just a couple minutes to have your picture develop, depending on how sunny a day you have, so the kids (and adults) get instant gratification. Very cool.

Interesting . I bought this as a christmas gift for my godchild. She and her sister love doing art projects, and I thought this would be something that was both education and fun. It allowed me to bring a little bit of science to her fun time. Sneaky learning is the best kind.

Solar Print Kit . I guess that I did not understand this kit was not the kit the refill kit would match. Since I can not use this kit with the refill kit I am alittle disappointed. I still have to go out and purchase the plexiglass so that I could us the paper in the refill kit.

great for my toddler . This was a great project for my two-and-a-half-year-old who has become very interested in the birds in our backyard and our already existing bird house, which gets a nest every year. I put it together in less than a minute (no tools required!) and the paints were high quality and easy for her to use. The only reason why I wouldn't give it 5 stars is the plastic plugs that you push into the holes are a bit soft and I did break one and if you really want to use it as a bird house, which we do, we decided to nail it together so it wouldn't fall open. Of course, you have to leave one half of the roof un-nailed so you can clean it out every spring.

I'd buy this again, I actually bought two and am saving the second for a rainy day.

Great project for young kids . This birdhouse is a great project for my wife and I along with our almost 3 & 5 year olds. Ar first, I thought the precut birdhouse with snap together pegs would be too simple but we added a few extra steps to expand the experience. We decided to prime, paint, & seal the birdhouse (I'm told not to paint the inside). We will also pre-drill a couple holes to put in screws to add strength, and we will make the bottom removable so the birdhouse can be cleaned out seasonally.
I love that this birdhouse was simple enough for a quick simple construction, but still allowed opportunities to expand the knowledge by researching and adding more steps. it gives a good beginning structure since evenly cutting and drilling all the pieces to a homemade birdhouse from scratch is more time consuming than one might expect.

I BOUGHT 3 OF THESE . This is so fun for sleepovers, because even though I've bought 3 of these, they all come with different fabrics. The sketches look so different after colors and designs even if it is 2 of the same sketch. My friends and I made some beautiful and some hideous, but we are easily distracted by other games and stuff. GUESS WHAT! we were doing this all night and my mom brought out her old buttons and fabric. Now I have them framed in my room. Even my mom does them with me

fashion designer . we were impressed with the contents of this product, perhaps a bit overwhelming for my 8 yr old grandaughter, she didn't know where to begin.it's a good toy ,but requires a little bit of guidance at first for some younger children.

A disappointment . Basically this kit is an unnecessarily big box containing a lot less than you'd think. It consists of a dozen heavy-weight coloring pages with not very attractive fashion drawings along with packs of sequins, ribbons, and fabric pieces that your child can glue or tape on. In other words, stuff that all of us with girls have in our houses. I'm sorry I spent my money.

Just cut and paste craft no design poor drawing templets. . My daughter loves to design clothes not just glue sequins on some drawing of a native, or space queen. Not appropriate for girls who have a flair for being creative.

Iron-on doesn't work . We bought this toy for our son for the holidays. He enjoyed designing his monster and it allowed him to use his creativity. However, when my wife carefully followed the iron-on directions it did not work. The iron-on body parts (eyes, mouth, etc.) either did not stick at all or only stayed on for a day or two. In the end she had to sew all the body parts onto the monster and it took at least two hours to do so.

Couldnt get it to work . My son was very excited about this arts and crafts project, but we simply couldnt get it to work. Having never done any iron-on felt activities before, we needed additional guidance that the instructions did NOT provide. Do you peel the paper backing off the felt or leave it on? If you peel it off, there is a slightly sticky part - does the sticky part face down or up? What kind of cloth do you put over the pieces during ironing? We tried a paper towel, a wash cloth, and finally a pillowcase When we first tried we couldnt get the pieces to stick AT ALL to the felt monster. I mean, not even a little bit. They stuck to the cloth, they stuck to the iron, but not to the monster. After a long struggle, we got some of the pieces to stick to the monster but most just refused to stick, probably because we compromised the glue already. In any case, my kid was quite sad that this didnt work, and I was frustrated. I am actually thinking of buying another and trying again because we both liked the idea so much. Oh yeah, and we ruined an iron which I know need to replace. Oh well.

We had no trouble ironing the felt pieces on and they have stayed on so far. My son even brought his finished monster into school to show his friends (so I'm sure it was handled a lot.) You do have to peel the paper backing off of the felt before you iron it on (this was a little confusing because the directions don't tell you either way and it doesn't clearly look like a paper backing.) You may have to leave the iron on a little more than the time listed, but for the most part, it was really easy. The finished product is so much more special than a stuffed animal you buy in the store!
