fun for all-but get a different book! . I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and she's having a ball! The book that comes with the set is fair for someone who already knows how to knit, but difficult to understand for newbies. My mother also bought another basic knitting book that really helped. I like the craft projects in the book and the needles are just the right size for little hands to hold.

A great project for my 6 year old girl and her friends.

VERY NICE KIT! . I bought this kit for my six year old grandaughter, to teach her to knit. I was pleasantly surprised at how much yarn is in it; and in lovely colors. It also has a nice set of short needles for little hands. It all comes in a plastic snap case to keep it all together. Even my daughter, who is a "non-crafter", was impressed. It is a good value and makes a nice gift.

Harder than I thought . I have never knitted and bought this for my very interested 7 year old per reviews I read. I have crocheted in the past and do have the basics. The pictures are great but the instructions were a little hard to understand. Maybe a u-tube or dvd video will help those who are knitting challenged like me. My daughter lost interest while I fumbled along trying to make it through page 7.

don't waste your dough! . I bought this candle making kit a few years ago, after seeing the awesome creations shown on the front of this kit's box... BOY WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE!

I opened the box to find a few limp sheets of dried-out wax.
I was excited to try my hand at candle making! But, I soon realized I'd really blown it big time, when the sheet of wax cracked in half! Being a hopeful kid, I decided to give it a second try... BUT BEFORE I COULD SUCCESSFULLY CREATE ANYTHING HALF-WAY DECENT all the supplies in that stupid kit had been wasted; lying in a pathetic pile on our countertop.

DON'T BE A KNUCKLEHEAD LIKE ME...

How to get the most from this kit . My eight-year old received this kit as a birthday present. We had a great time making the candles, though the quantity of wax inside the kit was not enough to make more than 1 or 2 of the items shown. We used a hair dryer to soften the wax before rolling it (reviewers that tried the oven, or didn't soften the wax had a lot of problems that we didn't have). The best part of this kit are the little templates for making bees and butterflies. We will buy larger wax sheets from other suppliers to make more candles like this in the future.

Cool! . My daughter got this as a present and she has been able to make really cool stuff. She loves it. It's a great product for older girls.

You will NOT create anything like the box but the set can be salvaged... . My daughter was so disappointed in this kit. The wax was very difficult to work with - brittle and hard. I followed instructions to heat it in the oven to soften it, but it quickly became overheated and melted. My daughter became very frustrated trying to work with this kit. Out of the entire box of wax, my daughter did make three heart cut out candles which she enjoyed, but which were functionless as you couldn't actually light the candle.

I think the key to getting any value out of this kit is to use the wax differently. Instead of creating candles, perhaps you could buy a pillar candle and use small cookie cutters to cut out the pieces of wax and press them onto the big candle to decorate it. Another option is to abandon the candle idea altogether and just cut out wax shapes and string them together like a banner, or make Christmas ornaments out of them.

Great! . My wife purchased this book set for my daughter to teach her how lo weave. Since my wife is not a patient person, she thought she needed something besides her skills to teach my daughter. The book did the trick and my wife guided her when she was having some trouble. Thanks to this book she not only learn but also value the art of waving, something young generations have lost complete interest in learn.

Frustrating to set up . This was a Christmas present for my 9 year old daughter. She liked it a lot. The loom is fun to use, and the booklet has detailed instructions. However, the included yarn is a huge mess. Instead of packaging it as easy to use balls of yarn, they put it in twisted skeins. I don't know what the idea is here, but before starting on any weaving project, you have to roll up the yarn into a usable shape. Needless to say, for the inexperienced user this is a mess waiting to happen. I ended up frustrated with an entangled unusable mess of yarn. My advice is skip this step and use store bought "user friendly" yarn. Of course, if you can't use the included yarn which is pretty and colorful, the price does not seem quite justified. Maybe this is easier when you have some experience in textile crafts such as knitting. But because of this needless complication, I am not giving this product a high rating.

A good craft kit . We got this craft kit for our 11 year old granddaughter. I think it is right for her age and she will enjoy working on the projects. Good for a rainy day . I bought this for an 8 year old for a birthday gift, I always love crafts and thought it would be good for a rainy day. It is great for the price and the quality if pretty good. The only downfall is that we went through these crafts pretty quick. There is another set similar to this that looks to be a but harder but looks good none the less. For the price and contents this is a good project to keep an 8 year old occupied for a few hours!
