don't waste your dough! . I bought this candle making kit a few years ago, after seeing the awesome creations shown on the front of this kit's box... BOY WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE!
I opened the box to find a few limp sheets of dried-out wax.
I was excited to try my hand at candle making! But, I soon realized I'd really blown it big time, when the sheet of wax cracked in half! Being a hopeful kid, I decided to give it a second try... BUT BEFORE I COULD SUCCESSFULLY CREATE ANYTHING HALF-WAY DECENT all the supplies in that stupid kit had been wasted; lying in a pathetic pile on our countertop.

How to get the most from this kit . My eight-year old received this kit as a birthday present. We had a great time making the candles, though the quantity of wax inside the kit was not enough to make more than 1 or 2 of the items shown. We used a hair dryer to soften the wax before rolling it (reviewers that tried the oven, or didn't soften the wax had a lot of problems that we didn't have). The best part of this kit are the little templates for making bees and butterflies. We will buy larger wax sheets from other suppliers to make more candles like this in the future.
Cool! . My daughter got this as a present and she has been able to make really cool stuff. She loves it. It's a great product for older girls.
You will NOT create anything like the box but the set can be salvaged... . My daughter was so disappointed in this kit. The wax was very difficult to work with - brittle and hard. I followed instructions to heat it in the oven to soften it, but it quickly became overheated and melted. My daughter became very frustrated trying to work with this kit. Out of the entire box of wax, my daughter did make three heart cut out candles which she enjoyed, but which were functionless as you couldn't actually light the candle.
I think the key to getting any value out of this kit is to use the wax differently. Instead of creating candles, perhaps you could buy a pillar candle and use small cookie cutters to cut out the pieces of wax and press them onto the big candle to decorate it. Another option is to abandon the candle idea altogether and just cut out wax shapes and string them together like a banner, or make Christmas ornaments out of them.
