Great product! . This is a very well-made easel and the perfect size for my 6 year old. I think it will last many years, even as he grows taller. I was concerned that maybe the deluxe easel would be a better quality, but I don't think it can be any better than this. Great value - no need to buy the expensive version.

Great Educational gift . This is my third easel, I gave two to Grandchildren for Christmas last year. One, soon to be three, uses it to release feelings and emotions. Go...let it all out in colors and drawings. The other was in a situation where the parents moved to a new home in a new town. After the house was set up she went in to see her room and there was her familiar friend, her easel.
I consider this a perfect gift for 3,4,5 or any age.

Artist Easel purchased through Amazon . Great gift for my five year old daughter, however I find my ten and fifteen year old children enjoying it too! Excellent quality and hours of entertainment.

Important info for potential buyers. . I bought this easel for my 3 year old's Christmas gift. It is important to have sturdy items that children can be themselves around. Being a construction foreman for 8 years gave me a clear understanding of how wood joints should be designed in order to withstand damage. Each of the four legs on this easel have a joint in the middle intended to decrease packaging size and costs, which is understandable. Notwithstanding, the way the joints were designed creates the one potentially fatal flaw of the product. A child simply leaning against one of the legs could easily snap the joint, rendering the easel unusable. A bit of handy work could easily solve the problem but this is certainly something the manufacturer could have addressed more thoroughly. If you are not accustomed to fixing your own things then this item will likely be a waste of your time and money as it will end up in a land fill.

Overall a good easel . This easel was purchased for my 2.5yo for Christmas. In the two weeks that we have had it, the easel has seen lots of use. Overall I would say it is a very good easel. Setup was not too bad, with the exception of attaching the legs to the top, which was tricky because the precut holes are tiny. One of the trays came with a small chip, so I called Kidkraft customer service and a new tray was sent out within a week. The kids love the easel and both sides get lots of use. I was worried about the chalkboard side, as people tend to comment that chalkboards on most easels are not very good. But if you prep the chalkboard as described in the directions, it works fine. I also purchased the Crayola whiteboard crayons, which work great on the whiteboard side. (Tip: use a baby wipe to remove them.) I took off one star because the legs are not as strong as I would like for long term use. But this is normal with easels at this price range. I would say $50-60 is a fair price for this easel.Overall a good buy and I would recommend.

Disappointed by the packaging. . I ordered this easel as a Christmas present for my 5 year old son which the mailman left in our front door some days ago. Unfortunately they had shipped it without wrapping, so when we arrived home my son saw it. I was very disappointed not only because of the absence of the packaging but also because the original easel box was very, very ruined, and because I noticed that it may have being used (it has a sticker that says that it comes from Amazon's Return Center). Also, the invoice has printed the name of other person (Mitchell Rhodes) who I think had returned the easel to the store before. I looked online at my order details and when trying to find the link that says "Leave a feedback about the packaging" I never found it so I opted for writing this review and to give only one star to this product. I really don't know if the easel is in a good condition since it hasn't being opened yet. The excuse I gave my son was that Santa sent his present earlier because he is a very good boy and that he should place it next to the Christmas tree while he waits for the rest of his presents. So I expect at least that the easel is in an excellent condition.

Solid durable multi-purpose easel . I researched many easels before purchasing this one. It includes a chalkboard, white board, and a paper roll at the top, which can be pulled down for drawing. I bought this for my twins' 3rd birthday. Now, they are 4-1/2 and they and their friends continue to get a lot of use out of this. The only problem is that I regularly have to tighten the screws to hold parts of the easel together. Also, the cups which hold paint are not really necessary and I would have preferred that there were not holes in the trays for the cups. Otherwise, I am very happy with this purchase.

Outstanding Product . I had not seen this easel "in person" prior to purchase, but it appeared to be of quality. It is a very solid piece of furniture. Delivery was earlier than expected (a good thing) and KidKraft sent the missing plastic washers (not a big deal) promptly. It will be around for many years!!

Seriously? Nobody noticed the chalkboard is plastic and chalk won't draw on it? . It's such a lovely easel otherwise, good quality wood frame and attractive. But come on people, I am SO SO SO disappointed nobody noted in reviews that for a hundred bucks, costing many times more than an Ikea easel, this one does not come with a real chalkboard! It's plastic. Chalk barely makes a mark on it. It is false advertising to sell this product as including a chalkboard when it is not at all a chalkboard, just made to look like one. You can even see in the photo on Amazon for the product a child drawing on the chalkboard -- it's a lie. In reality chalk does not work like that at all on the faux-chalkboard. Perhaps the model changed and Amazon still lists it under the same item. Which is something I have seen Amazon do on other items too, which misrepresents the true feedback for the item in stock. I would return this but I had to tear apart the box to get the huge pieces out of it and I didn't know the chalkboard wasn't real until the whole thing was assembled and I tried to draw on it with chalk. Boo boo boo at KidKraft for making an easel like this!!!

Wooden Easel . We purchased this for our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter last Christmas and it was the #1 hit. Now a year older, she's still enjoying the easel and painting -- asks to use it most every day. One side is for paper and paints; the other for blackboard and chalks. She truly loves it. It sits in their small kitchen and doesn't take up much space. The blackboard is always available, but mom and dad bring out the paints and set in the grooved tray when it's time to paint. A great way to encourage creativity! The construction is sturdy and attractive.

Love Love Love It! . My daughter spends hours standing at the easel drawing and coloring. She just turned two and loves learning her colors and drawing shapes and this easel is perfect. I love that it has adjustable height so it can grow taller with her. It is sturdy and looks great sitting in my kitchen/dining room. When we received the package in the mail and opened the box the white board had a crack. I called the company explained the problem and they sent us a new piece right away. I love working with a company that stands behind their products. This easel was well worth the money!!!!!

Great Christmas Present for our 4 year old! . I knew I wanted to get our 4 year old an easel for Christmas and had just assumed I would buy her a Melissa & Doug one since I wanted a wooden one, but after seeing one in the store and then reading the reviews I decided that wasn't the way to go so I started reading reviews of other ones online.

That's when I came across the KidKraft Deluxe Wood Easel and since the reviews about it were great, it was closer to the price range we wanted to spend versus some of the other ones and we also have the KidKraft wooden table and chairs and I know those are good quality I decided to go with the KidKraft Easel.

We bought it for Christmas of 2009 and here it is the end of April and I think my daughter has played with it every day, except when we were on vacation. At first she used the chalk side and paper all the time, but now since we bought some dry erase markers she seems to use that side the most.

We have so much fun writing notes to each other, drawing pictures, playing hangman or tic tac toe. I wish I would of bought one when my son was her age so we could of been using it for a lot longer and maybe he would of learned to write his name a lot earlier like my daughter did?!?

Would I recommend this to my family and friends.. hands down yes!

Wonderful for creative little minds . I bought this easel for my 3 1/2 yr old for Christmas. She loves it! The height adjustment is a great feature. It gets used almost every day and is very sturdy. I had to buy some extra items to go with it to make it fully functional as the easel only comes with 1 dry erase marker and an eraser. So I bought the Melissa and Doug accessory pack that has paints, brushes, cups and chalk. It would have been nice if the easel had a way to clip or somehow hold the paper down when she's painting but I'm using a large binder clip and that seems to work. Overall a wonderful product.

Deluxe Wood Easle . This was a Christmas gift for our 2 yr old son and he is extremely happy with the easel as are we. It allows our son as well as us to express our creative side. It is a well crafted and durable easel.

Cons Review

Another dud from KidKraft - ADDENDUM . Well, they have done it again. Last year, we received the KidKraft train table, and I reviewed it negatively.

If I had a choice in the matter, I would definitely have gone with a different company, but, alas, my mother-in-law did not read my review. To clarify, the easel we received was not exactly the one pictured. They have the same product number, but ours is "B" instead of "A".

I did have an open mind to start, but it became closed when I tried to assemble the thing. Two problems: the trays that you attach are supposed to have plastic washers so you can fold them up, but because they drilled holes with wells in them, the washers lie flush with the wood, and therefore do not do the job. Not only that, now there is a space on either side that must be filled with an extra washer (or 2, I don't know). I'm sure the company will send me some, but not in time for Christmas.
The second problem is more frustrating. The easel is supposed to open up to stand better and fit a tray at the base. However, because of the way the hinges are attached at the top, and the supporting pieces are not rounded at the top, it DOES NOT open more than 30 degrees or so.

And let me add that this is an expensive product, one that you would expect to be made with more attention to quality and detail. For that reason, I feel I can be more pointed in my criticisms.

I will add that I don't know if the kids will like it or care about what I will have to do to the thing to make it work. But, in conclusion, I would seriously think twice about ordering from this company.

ADDENDUM: Fast-forward one year. Kidkraft was decent enough to send a replacement easel top that had the requisite change in angle, so it was wider. HOWEVER, and this is unbelievable to me, sorry to sound so persistently negative, the holes were completely different from the rest of the pieces, so it could not be assembled with the original!!!

I tried to "make do," attaching the legs to the outside instead of the inside, using only 1 screw instead of 2, foregoing the possibility of ever adjusting the height, and settling for the bottom rack not fitting squarely on the bottom. Nonetheless, the 2 trays cannot fit because the legs are now on the outside, and the top paper roll holder cannot be switched because those screw-holes are also completely different.

SO, my options: Stick with the original configuration, with no bottom tray, and a precarious easel that can easily topple on my kids; OR, have a more stable easel, with no paper roll holder and no trays to hold supplies.
What would you do?

Looks good a little overpriced. . This is a nice-looking table, and the double-sided activity board adds some variety. The legos that come with it are small and a little on the cheap side. They function fine, but real legos are better. The legos are also pretty small, so beware with younger toddlers. The train set is a nice basic train set- nothing fancy, but a good starter set. The magnets on the train cars are a little weak, so they don't pull well.

The assembly was easy, and the finished product looks great. Not an overwhelming hit, but a nice play surface for all kinds of activities.

Happy customer . I bought this for my toddler and she loves it. It comes with very small Lego pieces, so those are packed away until she is older, but I currently use Duplos and Mega Blocks with it and they work really well. This is a toy that will definitely grow with a child. And, it is attractive so it looks more like a piece of furniture than it does a toy. This is a great toy that is well worth the money.

Great product fast shipping . After doing quite a bit of research on Lego tables, I chose this one for my 5 year old son as a birthday present. He loves it, it was easy to assemble and is sturdy. It has a storage area underneath the table top, which is nice, and his legos snap in with no problem. The bonus train tracks, trains and legos that came with it made it more of a deal. The Legos that come with it are generic, but they work with the real ones and are fine. I was worried that the table was going to be too small, but it is large and he has plenty of room to play. It is the right height where he can either kneel on the floor or sit in a small chair to build.

Great activity table! . It looks really nice and has held up to my 2 year old climbing on it. Right now we're using it for a small train set. It's nice that the table has storage in it but it's a bit annoying to lift the top to get to anything. We ended up keeping all of the train accessories in a bin under the table for easier accessibility. Overall, it was a good purchase.

Not great . I bought this table mainly because my 3 years old have been asking for Thomas train and she loves legos. However she only have duplo legos and I read some other reviewer said the duplo will work with this table. But it barely work. You can get the lego to fit if you try really hard.
