Note: The S&H is almost twice the cost of the book... (Toygarden Seller Feedback) . This was sort of a mess. I ordered the coloring book, but where they say you can review the order before you place it, they negelct to separate the details hence there was no way to see the outrageous S&H on this order.

I purchased the coloring book for $4.78 but didn't realize that the S&H was $7.25!! Then I didn't get it for over a week. I have sent stuff to people that was bigger, for less, and gotten it there sooner. After I got it, I noticed there was a tear in the cover. After seeing this and after everything else, I was very upset, so I left a very bad feedback rating and then left town the next day.

Credit to ToyGarden, they were very persistent at wanting to resolve my discontent. They left several messages for me while I was out of town that I got when I returned, however, since I did not return until the 23rd of Dec and this was supposed to be a gift, I figured it was too late to do anything. Toygarden however persisted and kept trying to contact me regarding the negative posting.

We came to an agreement and I agreed to pull the negative feedback but when I tried to go in an leave a more accurate account of the transaction I couldn't. You only get one chance here.

They are very concerned about ensuring customer satisfaction and go out of their way to rectify any dissatisfaction. They refunded my S&H when they did not have to.

Apparently Amazon sets the S&H for this stuff, so, be aware, if you think you are getting a deal, make sure you consider the S&H.

Have you ever... . If you have ever done a piant by number (whatever kind) you'll find that it really is difficult to get the picture, model, whatever to look good, as is the case here. All of Breyer's craft kits are EXTREMELY difficult, they always try to make it sound/look easy, but I have yet to find a kit that is easy. In all of their painting kits, I have purchased professional model paints in order for the model to look good. It is not worth the money or the time I spent.

Breyer Painting or Creating kits . Don't mind Sour puss here. Breyer's kits are fun and enjoyable they teach you how the model painters feel when they paint their models. Breyer's kits bring out the professional in you to paint a horse. It's dosen't matter how bad you think it it is a childhood tresure to chrish forever.

Cons Review

paint by number . I thought this was REALLY fun to paint. It isnt durable at all, though. It is made out of different material than regular breyers (kind of glass like). So don't buy this if you want to play with it afterwords. I accidently gave mine a REALLY light touch to a chair, and the leg came off. But it is VERY fun to paint!

Breyer Horse Painting Kit . I purchased the Breyer Horse paint kit for my 8-year old grand-daughter. As a horse rider and horse lover, she planned out how she was going to paint her horse, took her time, changed her mind, took her time!! She had fun in doing this kit. Although not artist-perfect, she was very proud to add her "own" Breyer to her Breyer horse collection. Will be purchasing another one for this year as well.

Fun but not for children . This model is made out of a different materials than other breyers, not a big deal to me, but if you want to play with it after painting I would not recommend this. The horse its self is a little fat, so it looks a little weird (thats not meant to be critical but its really noticeable so I thought I would mention it) I understand they were trying to make this easy, but really the craters for the numbers and lines are huge, you can really seen them through the paint which bothers me. It does not come with enough paint in my opinion of course I was trying to cover up the huge number and line craters. I didn't follow the preset design and made my own design. I would not recommend this for people who are impenitent, you have to wait for each section to dry before painting more that is if you want it to look good, which like I said I did my own design, but if you follow the preset design it will take some time. I actually bought this because it was a cheap unpainted quarter horse mare resin in a nice pose, so it fit the bill for me and I would buy it again, but if your buying this for a child then it might not be so good. If your someone whos getting into painting resins (models) it would be a nice beginner model.

way fun! . This toy is educational because with the booklet you can read all about horse markings.I thought it was fun when i painted it. But putting on the mane is a bit hard because there's only glue to hold the mane in place.however There is enouph glue to complete this project. i got this toy for my birthday.it is fun to paint. I think that it's a fun thing to do if you like horses and crafts.if you are a child you probroblly should have an adults help to attach this product's mane. there is also plenty of paint and paint colors. all in all a great product.

Pretty Nice! . I recently bought this after deciding that it might be a fun project to work on.

The horse and kit are both very nice - good quality and pretty easy to understand. The paints were gorgeous, but I wish there had been more provided of each color (I barely had enough base color to cover the horse, and even then it could've used a bit more.) The brushes were also of decent quality - they aren't crappy little plastic kids' brushes, and they came in three sizes which were ideal for covering the horse but also for adding in small details.

The instruction booklet was VERY helpful. It not only teaches you how to paint the horse, but it also gives suggestions for markings and tells about them.

Attaching the mane and tail proved kinda tricky and messy, and I'm sure a child would have a lot of trouble with it on their own (I'm 18 and a huge crafter, and this was a bit tricky even for me.) The results look pretty good, however, so I think it was worth the trouble. However, I would not have minded just a basic, paintable, sculpted mane and tail, as it would've been much easier, especially for children.

Overall, this is a nice product and a fun project for a rainy evening. The results look very nice, and the horse makes a neat display (plus, having a completely customized Breyer horse is pretty cool.)

Fun but not really for younger children . Kit comes with 2 padlock sized models (their not very big only like 3 inches high, which is okay but just thought I would mention it) the Quarter horse is male and the SaddleBred is female (which is nice because most breyers tend to be male) I would not recommend these for really young or impenitent people simply because if you want your model to look nice you need to paint a section of it and then let it dry. Impenitent painters will find their models look very sloppy. I would also recommend that you buy more paint (acrylic) better paint brushes and clear nail polish for better results (all of which can be found at walmart for cheap) My Quarter horses feet were a uneven and looked poorly made, but that was easily fixed with a nail filer (I think mine was just a fluke because I've bought other make your own breyers and they didn't have that problem). If your interested in customizing other models this kit is a nice introduction. The kit comes with a little booklet that gives you details on shading, highlights and general horse colors and markings. Unless you have experiences painting models and working with acrylics and blending paints I really would say do not expect your model to look like a professional breyer, I personally did not have a problem getting my models to look like professional breyers but I've had a lot of experiences in this field, just thought I would mention that because I have a feeling lots of people are probably let down with their results. As far as playing with them, I would say if your child is ruff that its not a good idea, the models legs look like they would break if you were too ruff with them. Over all its a nice little kit, I will probably buy it again in the future.

Very fun to paint and play with . I bought two of these for 9 and 11 year old girls. The quality of the models is typical Breyer - pretty good. They are a little smaller than I was expecting, but that is ok. They seem to be the size of the Stablemates horses. The set comes with some typical horse paint colors. I like that it is an art kit, but retains play value after the painting is done. They are plenty durable enough for the girls to use with the rest of their Breyer collections.

Nice paint set . My daughter really enjoyed this paint set. She said it was "cool". I would buy more paint sets from Breyer.

Great Fun For Granddaughters . My granddaughter had a great time painting this horse. It has become a great play time toy and has some pride in the painting of it. There is another granddaughter that will enjoy one just like it in the not to distant future.

Great for horse loving kids . My daughter loved painting these horses. She had both of them done the day after Christmas!
