Really speeds up weaving! . The Wonder Wand is a great addition to a lap loom. I use it along with Harrisville Designs' Lap Loom "B." What it does is to press down every other warp thread, thus speeding up the process of getting a shed stick through the loom. That being said, it doesn't do the trick for me generally in one fell swoop. I typically have to reposition it a few times. Really, though, that's not difficult. You can keep loading the shed stick, pause when the Wonder Wand gets a bit off track, lift it up, press down again, and continue from where you left off. Even if it doesn't get all the necessary warp threads in one press down, it still really speeds up the weaving process overall.The reason I took a star off the rating for the Wonder Wand is because I decided to stain and varnish my Harrisville Designs loom and accessories. I was shocked to see that the Wonder Wand is laminated wood, rather than a solid piece of wood. While staining it, the layers started delaminating along the "teeth," so I had to do some glue repairs. I would still recommend this product, but I wish it were a solid piece of wood for sturdiness. If I hadn't repaired it back then, it would possibly delaminate over time with use.
