Imagination comes alive... . I'd like to first comment on the price of this. I got it last year and got this so cheap I thought there had to be some problem with it. Well, it works as advertised and was fin while it lasted.

4 and 6 Year Olds Loved It. . I bought two of these, one for my daughter and one for my granddaughter. We ended up with pixos all over the kitchen floor and all over the table, but they enjoyed making the designs, and they've held together well. . The main problem we had with the pen was that it jams up frequently, but with a few little shakes, it usually works again. We found the sticky dot on the other end of the pen extremely useful for picking up stray dots. After we made the design, we sprayed them well (but not soaked) and then let them dry for a full day before taking the design off the tray. We attached magnets to the back and use them on the fridge.

another happy 8 yr old girl playing with her pixos . bought this for my daughter for christmas. she has experienced pixos prior to this, as well as chixos. she has been playing with them consistently since she opened the gift. and enjoying it by the way... i actually bought 2 of these for her for two reasons.
1. because amazon had SUCH a low price, I got two for what target asked for a single one.
2. so when she has a friend over, they're able to partake in the fun simultaneously ....
overall, i was very pleased with all aspects. amazon makes shopping VERY easy. the shipping was super speedy. everything i ordered was safe and intact. happy customer- again!

Weird toy . My niece asked for this for Christmads and the Amazon price was great so she got this and the Pixo Studio. She started playing with it that evening and it seemed odd to use. You can only put one color dot in the pen at a time and you pretty much have to put them in one dot at a time, so it's kind of useless as you could just pick the dot up and set it on the tray. It made a cute artsy thing, but is overall pretty useless. The dots also seem to take a long time to dry. Kind of annoying, but she had fun.

Better than Expected . Thanks to TV advertising, my 4-year-old son started asking for Pixos six months before his birthday. I figured in the interim he would latch onto something else, so I didn't worry about looking around. Much to my surprise, he stayed true to his wish, and I found myself scrambling at the last minute looking for the best deal. I definitely found it buying through wtreed. This kit has everything you need to get started. I was skeptical about the pen after reading other reviews, but I have been pleasantly surprised. My son can help me load it, and I hold the pen while he pushes the button to make the pictures. He can also spray the water. The packaging says the beads dry in 20 minutes; we have found the only way that works is with the help of a blow dryer. There are 10 designs to choose from, and while we haven't done all of them yet, there appear to be enough beads to do so. The finished designs are holding up (so far) to the beatings of my 2-year-old. My only complaint is that 9/10 design templates need to use the same tray. That is a problem when both of my kids want to make pictures at the same time. Other than that, we love this product and are having a lot of fun.

Pixos . I bought this for my 9 year old daughter who was very pleased. It had more colors than she thought they had for Pixos.

Waste of money . My daughter never really played much with this, but I had to clean alll the little pellets up from the floor.

Cons Review

fun . I bought this for my 41/2 year old daughter and she loves them! They tend to not stay together unless you spray them more than once. You also have to flip them over after they dry from the first spray and repeat with the other side.

Fun but keep all the little pieces together . This is a wonderful package. It has everything you need in one box. But pixos are kinda messy, so make sure you have a container to keep everything in when you are done. Also, I would not recommend them for under 6. They do require some patience and take a little bit to get the hang of.

Best Pixos Disney Fairies

Fun play activity to share with a 4-5 year old girl! . Many folks have a love-hate relationship with Pixos. Nut my craftsy/"artist-want-to be" princess of a 5-year old niece loves them, and it's an activity that you are almost mandated to share to with them at this age. This pixo kit is the one, so far, she's enjoyed the most. Here's the ups and downs of it:

Upsides:
- Helping TINKERBELL fly is a winner: Tinkerbell is alway a winner with my niece, but making Tinkerbell's pixos wings for her to be able to fly again was a highlight for her with this set. Comes with a cut-out cardboard Tink and the "stickies" needed to attach her wings when you complete them. The wings are the "beginner" level of making - so perfect for this age.

- Tinkerbell in the Lost Island with Fairies and trees you make are even more of a winner: The box is cleverly designed to become a Lost Island forest - for on-going imaginative playability after you've made them.

Downsides:
The downsides are pretty much what people that don't like Pixo's typically will tell you - though my nieces enjoyment of them supercedes these downsides.

- Patience and a plan are required to fully enjoy Pixo's made for this age set:
Bumps that upset Pixos you've already placed happen (this tends to bother adults more than the kids). There's a lot of small pieces (TIP: We make sure we've already poured each color pixos into a little snack ziploc bag to reduce errant pixos floating around), and it does take a lot of spraying with water and a couple of hours for each of your "creations" to dry.

- Pixos aren't a "substitute baby-sitter" type-toy: With younger kids, you really do have to sit down and do the project with them with. To me, it makes it a fun shared activity.

- Placing Pixo's is easier for little fingers than 'adult-sized' fingers": We had no problem doing this one with our hands (the kit doesn't come with a Pixo pen. But, if you are doing them on a regular basis - I highly recommend getting a Pixos Pen Pack Starter Pack Plus Bonus Refill Kit, which includes a PIXO placement pen that adults with bigger hands often find easier to use.

Nice craft to do together . I had originally ordered 2 of these to give as birthday gifts however while waiting for them to arrive, my own 6 year old daughter started begging for Pixos so I gave them to my own girls ages 4 and 6. I was hesitant at first, but it was actually pretty good. I save the little condiment cups from takeout food and they were perfect to pour the pixos in to keep them organized and contained. I sat with my 4 year old and helped her while my 6 year old did it herself. We had experienced pixos at a friend's house previously and there was much frustration with the creations falling apart. I made sure to spray them very well and dry for several hours. The wings are holding up well on Tinkerbell and it is actually getting played with. I'm sure the interest will wane but this craft is at a good price. I'm here to order more for gifts!

Learn and Create . I think this is a great toy if you want your child to learn and develop their creativity skills. The product was not exactly easy to use right out of the box; it took some practise before my daughter had it mastered. We recommend that you spray plenty of water on the finished piece and let dry for an extended period of time before removing. This will save you the frustration of spending an hour designing your creation only to see the piece fall apart!!

nice trays but 3D ones are not easy to make . This was a neat idea, but unfortunately because pixos have such a hard time drying it makes making these 3D structures difficult because there are so many layers that need to dry. We have not managed to make a single 3D figure becuase we would take them out prematurely then try to repair it etc. That being said, the trays that come with this we use all the time to store pixos for our 2D designs. The regular pixo designs are tonnes of fun, but the 3D doesn't work very well

Chixos and Pixos . I bought almost every set of Chixos and Pixos for one of my grandchildren in a family of four, from 3 yrs. old to 12. They all loved it and played with it. No issues of the little balls sticking together, as some other reviewers experienced... it needs to get wet! The price of the pixo refills is daunting, though. Once my daughter-in-law shopped for refills and saw what they cost, she told me she no longer would just vacuum the stray balls up, but got on her hands and knees for retrieval. When Amazon had them on sale (before Christmas) I stocked up on them so the fun could continue. I don't think the Pixos or Chixos have any educational value, but what is wrong with plain old fun?!

Not impressed . These won't stay together to save my life! I spray and spray again, have to wait until they dry and all just to have them fall apart - again! I'm done with Pixos - ALL of them!

Don't waste your money... . I bought these for my 3 1/2 and 5-years olds. They love arts and crafts, including the Perler Beads that you design then iron. So I thought these would be great and no ironing for me. Well, I'd rather iron than work with these things. Sometimes they don't all stick together, then their design breaks apart. And you don't get many of the pellets in this set. We used them in about a week, while we have had the same huge bucket of Perler Beads for a couple years....all for less money and more fun. My children and I were disappointed.

Great gift of creativity for kids . y daughter loves picsos and spends hours creating nice toys and creatures using this toy. This is very educational, however it is very expensive.

Not so great for 10 year olds . My twin 10 year old loved the original pixos and thought the 3D version would add more fun. They were disappointed in the limited amount of activities they could do with this kit. They played with them the first day and was done from then on.

Too much trouble! . Does not come with enough pieces to really make it worth it.

The finished pieces take WAAAY TOO LOOONG to dry! (Even though we used a fan to dry them faster!)

The 3D was nearly impossible, with how slowyly they dried. My 7 year old tried to make gifts for us all with it, and was too frustrated to finish them.

It was used once and tossed aside.

Cheap. . This review is from my 11 year old daughter: "I like it, but it sucks!"

The pixos do not fill the forms well, and even after drying overnight they fell apart when she tried to get them out. It looked like a neat idea, but was not achievable following the directions.

We'll probably try again, but I think she's too frustrated with it now.

Multiple Fun For The Money . I thought the toy was fun, as did my husband, my 10 year old and my 5 year old. (boys). The only complaint I have is the tray doesnt have a cover to store the beads in. I mean come on people, who didnt think of this!? and they don't give you any extra beads, so if you loose one, you are out of luck. But overall for the low cost it is fun entertainment. They just need to tweek a few things, add more extra beads and a storage container cover!

better than expected . Given all the reviews on the pixos products, I bought this with some trepidation. However, I was pleased both with the ease of use of the unit as well as the entertainment value it provided. Some tips on this...I would not suggest this for a child younger than 6, possibly 5 if they are quite dextrous. There is a lot of fine motor control required to place the individual pixos according to pattern. Secondly, we had much better results when the pixos were sprayed heavily with water and left overnight to dry. Third, you will end up buying additional pixos packs as your kids will go through the designs quite quickly, so there will be added expense. Fourth, we found the pixos pen much easier to use than the suction device to place the pixos. We also found that using a fingertip to slide the pixos in place was also effective. Lastly, the drying device on the unit was pretty useless.

The one major disappointment that I have with this product is that is really is design driven, allowing for little creativity on the part of the kiddo. You can of couse, scrap the expansion packs, and just use the pixos to design something, but then there aren't enough pixos to do a design if you then chooose to. Not a big deal, but just more of an investment to stimulate creativity.

Overall, the item was much better than expected. My daughter likes playing with it, likes doing designs and made her own scooter freeform with it as well. she is able to use the pen well, the suction device OK, and does not get frustrated with the unit.

Did not meat expectations . This toy says its for kids 3 and up but with the attention span of most children I would not recommended this products to any child under the age of at least 8. My niece is 5 years old and mentioned that she wanted to try out PixOs. I bought these for her birthday and we spent about 20 min setting it up. After about 1 hour of playing with it there were more PixOs stuck in the carpet than there were in the molding tray. They are sticky and after she found out they were more fun to throw at people rather than slowly put them into molds it went downhill fast. This is really meant for children that are either older or can give something full attention for more than an hour and complete a protect other wise you are going to be vacuuming up PixOs for years to come or cutting them out of your carpet! Enjoy at your own risk =)

It only comes with enough to make one or two characters, then you have to buy more for $10 a pack. Kids enjoyed it and still do. Its just priced rediculously and your forced to buy the 10 refills.
