Klaus makes the Rainbow Vision Sand Pictures in his studio in Lustenau, Austria. Each piece is handcrafted with love and attention to detail. He uses a complex, yet beautiful blend of sand which is carefully selected for each frame color and / or movie image. The soapy water provides the medium for the sand to fall, but the real secret is the air. It is the air barrier that separates the sand from the water. That's it: air, sand and water!
The sand will search to find the weakest link in the air-bubble barrier. The flow of sand between the bubbles will create dunes, mountains, and valleys. A slower flow of sand will result in a delicate trickle of sand making more dramatic peaks and valleys. A faster flow of sand will make dune shapes. Best of all is you control the amount of air in each sand picture so you can make the sand fall as fast or as slow as you want.
The Sand Pictures are educational for children while soothing and relaxing for adults. There are many sizes and shapes to choose from. There really is something for everyone!

Relaxing stylish and perfect! . This sand picture with stand is more like an ever-changing sand sculpture. The set comes with a sturdy grey plastic frame and matching round base to hold up the frame. The sand is actually in three different colors: white, dark grey, and sparkling blue. Each sand color has a different density, so the grains move at different speeds to create beautiful pictures that look different every time. It is easy to remove the frame from the base to rotate the frame and make a new picture. The frame can stand on any of its four sides, so you can really get neat designs. Really, the sand pictures look like classic art, and would be beautiful at work on a desk, in the living room, or even at the dining room table. I was very impressed that the set comes with a book of instructions on how to alter your sand art by using the included syringe. There are instructions on how to add or remove air to change the rate and direction of sand flow (you can also add water if needed). This allows you to change how fast the sand piles up. I have not yet tried this out, but I like knowing that I have a way to maintain the sand art to keep it flowing for many years. We keep our Sand Art on the dining room table, and everyone loves it - our 3 young children, grandparents, and visitors! A side note: so far, this product has been very durable in the hands of 5 & 7 year-olds! I like this product so much, that I am considering getting another one for my desk at work.
