Great for homeschooling . I'm sorry the previous reviewer had problems with customer service, but it's a shame for this product to have a one-star rating based on the frustration of someone who never even laid eyes on it. So here's the opinion of someone who has actually used the Board Brothers Easel Desk.
I came across this little desk at an office supply store back in August/September, and bought it thinking it would come in handy for homeschooling. It has been a great tool for us! I can sit at the table with the kids and show them math or grammar concepts, as opposed to standing at a distance with a wall board. This is especially nice if, like me, you don't have space for a wall board. An added bonus is that the toddler loves to play with it, which keeps him busy while I'm working with someone else. I came here looking to buy another one in a different color so that he and I wouldn't have to fight each other for it. :)
The inside of the desk has enough storage for a big board eraser (or several) and dozens of markers. It even props open so that you can use the board on a slant. Because it's not TOO easy to open, my youngest can only get to the markers when I allow him. In addition, there are two flaps on the underside which fold out to make a stand which fits comfortably over the lap of a child OR adult, making it simple to use even when travelling in the car. Or if you wish, you can use it to prop up your book for reading in bed.
The only problem I have had with this product is that the dry erase top has developed a wrinkle at the middle bottom of the board where the glue was apparently not applied as well. It is mildly annoying but could probably be fixed if I wanted to make the effort. Since I usually don't write to the bottom, it hasn't been an issue.

colors may vary...includes pink . Just a heads up for parents of boys. I ordered this for my 7 yr old son. The description does say colors may vary but in my experience that usually means colors that could go both ways. Well, we got pink. We can pay shipping to exchange it and hope for a different color but we decided to wait and see what he thinks.

LOVE this product! . I bought this item for my 6 year old boy to take on car rides, but he uses it all the time. I purchased it at Wal-Mart so I was able to choose the color. It holds a good amount of his coloring books, paper, markers, crayons, etc. It was not so easy for him to open on his own at first, but once I showed him how he got the hang of it. Great product in my opinion.
Sturdy fun . My niece immediately opened the tray and began drawing. The eraser board wipes off clean. The legs are easy to pull out and very sturdy. High recommendation.
Nice Product... But.... . This dry erase lap desk works great in regards to the tilt-up board, pull-out stands to rest over the lap, and storage space for the markers. The only problem I have with it, is the fact that it is advertised to store 8.5"x11" paper in it... Well I couldn't get that to work. it is long enough for the 11" but the 8.5" doesn't fit... Still a good buy!!To those that may want to use this in your car... I wouldn't advise leaving it in the car (Heat can cause the issues other reviewers are complaining about) and I would suggest buying low-to-no smell dry erase markers.
Cons Review Unsatisfied . I purchased this from Office Max 2 hours ago. My kids seemed to like them. When we got home both of the desks had the wrinkle described in the other review. The wrinkle goes right up the middle. When you first buy it, it looks great but then when you open the desk I think the pressure to open it causes the dry erase sheet to separate. Very poor quality. I would not recommned this product.
Also, the idea of using a dry erase board in the car sounds great until you have to smell the dry erase markers as you are driving.
Cheap! . I got this so my kids could do school work in the car. The paper (white board) peeled off imediatly and left a sticky residue I can't get off! Just buy a clip board with storage, they work so much better!! Wouldn't buy this ever again!
This lap desk is not magnetic . I selected this travel lap desk for my child specifically because it was described as being magnetic. I even received a replacement which was also not magnetic. Both are being returned due to this issue. Otherwise, this lap desk is a nice size for kids and the storage area is big enough to hold many things a kid would like to have on a trip.
Not magnetic . Poor quality and most definitely not magnetic! Would not recommend. Had purchased other products that Amazon said were magnetic by same manufacturer and those were also not magnetic. Purchased to work on magnetic words with children put the magnet do not stay on the dry erase boards.
Promises Promises Promises . This might be an incredible lap desk. Unfortunately, neither I nor my granddaughter will ever know. I placed this order SIX weeks ago. I was repeatedly promised delivery. And now, with less than a week til Christmas, I receive word that it won't arrive.
Be aware when ordering through Amazon that you may in fact be dealing with some small, Mom and Pop group operating out of a garage. And don't expect any help or support from Amazon. It's all in the fine print. They are completely covered and you're left holding the empty gift bag.
